From what I've seen the talent is there. The big post hasn't done anything this yr I guess the D1 committ is laying back and the other forward is the rains girl who is carrying the team . Think they are tired of the same old plays .

Daddy post! Rains is having a good year so far, but we don't need parents talking bad about other players. Every comment out of your mouth is talking bad about our D1 commit post player. She is a kid. She's 6'3" she got an offer for her size and potential. That is just the way it is. We can't hate on her because of that. Typical Warren Co parent.

  2. Hey wrongway - well, dude, I misspoke in my last notes.  I appreciate you bringing that to my attention - after all we all make mistakes when we write things and do not re-read them.

The Warren County pitcher is a beast and completely held White County down on her own!!!

Warren County is by far the BEST TEAM in the District and should BLOW OUT everybody in the District.

Warren County has the whole package, from hitting to defense - just by far the best team.

Now, White County, (and yes, I was at the game between Warren and White), does not have the players to compete.  They have maybe four athletes on the team - short, center, pitcher and first. Other than that they have nothing.  I think Warren proved, any ball straight to a defender will be an error.

Warren just beat the pulp out of Cumberland 16-0, so they have proved they are the top team.

I think, at this point, the District goes like this:

    Warren Co

    Cookeville

    Cumberland

    Rhea

    White

    Stone

Now, some things will change over the next week, but I think it is clear to see, Warren County is by far the best team.

Warren Co fans get a little excited. Please forgive us. Don't put us all in the same category. White Co's pitcher is one of if not the best pitcher in the district. She struck out 10 against Warren. Her defense has not been great but you can only do so much as the pitcher. She (White Co)  will beat someone they are not suppose to beat. A lot of the teams are equal in the district. I think it will be a toss up come tourney time. No dominant pitchers yet so offense and defense will be the key.

Wrongway- Don't stir the pot! Its 3 games. All of our kids can't be great every time out!!!

  3.

Well, believe me, after watching Warren County play yesterday against Rhea County and White County, you just as well, should know Warren County WILL NOT be going to the Regional Tournament!  They looked like the bad news bears.  Don't know where their athletes were, but they weren't at the District Tournament!  Warren County GOT DRILLED by Rhea County 15-0 and had to turn around and play White County in the losers bracket.  Are you kidding me - White County almost beat them, but the game ended 3-1 in favor of Warren County.  If it hadn't been for two stupid plays at home - sending runners home when the ball was five feet from the infield, and getting them thrown out, White County could have beaten Warren.  Warren WAS ONE OF THE BEST TEAMS in this District along with Cookeville, but they just as well go home if that is all they have left.  Just unreal.

Wow harsh words for Warren Co. You were the one that had us believing Warren was going to the region. You sure jumped off the bandwagon fast. After 1 bad lost. A loss 15-0 and 1-0 is still a loss. White Co beat Rhea this season, Cookeville beat Cumberland in extra innings this season. Every team is going to have a bad game. It's high school kids playing sports. Warren Co has come along way in 2 years. They have a big challenge ahead today. Rhea Co and Cookeville are the best 2 teams in the district this year. Warren Co. should be excited to have this opportunity tonight. Next year Warren should make some real noise in the district. They have played Freshman in key positions this season (pitcher & SS). Some days are good and some are not so good. So they still have a chance. That's all they can ask for.  Can't make it tonight but I will be rooting for Warren Co.

  4. I'm born and raised in Warren County. The sign was just a sign, the football players didn't even know about it to the parents complained.  Our parents say its "disrespecful", "not good sportsmanship" etc.. But its ok for our parents to get on social media and talk about how bad THEY THINK our coaches and administration are. Calling them out by name. I'm embarrassed more by our parents mouth and disrespect toward our staff and administration than our record the last few years. They don't understand little Timmy is not as good as mom and dad thinks he is. Its always the coach's fault EVERY YEAR. They say our coach is just here for the paycheck, they have no idea how much his supplement is. Trust me not worth any coach's time. They coach because they care about out kids, not a freaking $5,000+ supplement. Coach's and staff don't let the negative parents stop you from doing what you do, coach and teach our young men. RANT OVER!!!!!

  5. First of all I'd like to say thank you Chris Madewell for the job you and your staff has done. You are truly a good man and good coach. I agree with some of the other post about not having enough players to compete in 6A football. There is no way this is Chris and the staff fault. Do you guys not think that he wants big numbers for his team? And this crap about not playing a kid because he is too small. EVERY coach will play his best players no matter size or who his parents are. My son played for Chris and rode the bench. Did I complain? NO! Because "i knew" he wasnt good enough to play. You as a parent should not live your life through your kids. So many people here in Warren Co. say "i coached my son and he was really good". Yeah all of our kids are good in jaycee and youth programs. So what, this kid has heart, that doesnt mean he should automatically have to play. You play your best players period. I will support who ever we hire because my family and i are pioneers. But some of you parents will be in for a real treat if they hire from outside. This crap not coming to workouts, not dressing during the week, and not showing up for summer workouts will not work for a new coach. I'm sure Chris tolerated those things cause he had no choice or had to field a team with 20 players. This next hire, if it does come from outside will be a eye opening experience for some of you parents. Hey parents all ofyour kids are not Division 1 talent. The sooner you realize this the more you can relax and enjoy their high school years.

  6. It's not horses that is killing us, its special teams and defense!!!! We give up too much yardage on KO & PUNT RETURNS!!!! It is nice if you only have 35-40 yards to paydirt! The defense HAS to adjust and be more "Amoebic" to whoever they're playing. Need more depth, instead of relying on the same 20 kids to play both ways!! They need to hire a recruiting coordinator to get some of these "obese" kids walking the halls interested in playing sports, and Trust Me I know its easier said, than done. I know I am a fan, but I do see what the others see from the booth upstairs, and it ain't pretty. As far as the student-athletes go, you guys are playing hard and I am proud of that, so this post is not aimed at the players, they do as they're coached. Now, Heads-up and kick the crap out of the next opponent!!!!!!!!!!! Go Pioneers!

I agree to a sense that our special teams and defense has not been up to par but we don't have the horses to have great depth. Our special teams have never been outstanding except when we had Tony G. Reality is 20 good "football" players ( and thats really stretching that with 20) is all we really have. No depth on the O and D lines. I think this is the least "talented" team we have had in the last 6 years. This team plays hard every play and i love seeing it but it takes talent to win in football. So parents and coaches its going to be a long year in the win column. They will play hard till the end. Thats all you can really ask for from a group of kids. Good luck! Keep your heads up high.

  7. I really hate to hear that..Coach Holt is a good coach and a real nice person. WC is down on talent this season (not to mention they had many injuries). Every team goes thru the cycle every now and then, and trust me, Warren Co. will be back with the frontrunners before you know it..I certainly do wish JW the very best in the future. I know that WC will find a top notch replacement...Maybe they can get Jimmy Walker back in the drivers seat??? Who Knows??

Good post. I wish JW and his family well. JW did the best with what he had to work with. The program will roll on and I expect big things again in WC. Walker would be a great hire and a great fit for the program.

  8. Unlike "Weeklystatus" , "Basaeball99" is truly aware of the state of affairs in PIONEER athletics !!!!!!

You state that MORRIS was the reason WC won in the 90's. But we were winning in the late 80's early 90's without Morris. The McCarters was a huge (if not the biggest) influence on the program,I agree with that totally. Brown, Walker , and Cox need their respect too is all Im saying."1992 state champs" without Morris. You were saying Holt time is up and Walker can't coach without Morris. I just dont agree with that statement. You were a Level A player but you are not the only one from WC to be a level A player.

  9. Don't you think , He's been there long enough to build a team ?? Maybe he was competitive early because, he had parents that traveled at a early age ?? Can, He stand on his own two feet ? I know Walker could not, when Ricky Morris left the program, But what do i know ?????

LOL. 14 Pioneer you are a joke. Every sport you get on here and talk bad about our coaches. Jealous maybe? You or your kid must have rode the pine during your time. Holt, Walker and staff do a good job. You have to have players to win. Plain and simple. Good try though but i guarantee you will not ruffle those coaches feathers by talking stupid on this board.

  10. yell i picked you guys winning 4 games in your district but right now i am wondering if you will win any in the district

I think it will be tough to win in the district this year. A very very inexperienced team with only 2 returning players that played on the varsity last year. One is suppose to be the #1 pitcher and he hasnt made any starts as of yet. So it may be a long season for the pioneers. With just 3 seniors maybe the future is bright. Go Pioneers!

  11. What is the future looking like? With all of Parker's kids gone.

The same it was with his "Parker's" kids here. Mediocore at best. Parker had one player with any talent. Killian and he had a great high school career with even getting drafted. Like we say every year in WC all the teams win at the Middle School Level. High School is a different level. All sports!!!!!

  12. You obviously have not read the "letter"! There is a reason all is calm at the ole Charlie Dalton gym. Trust me, they are in big trouble this time and they know it. You need to sign the letter and let's end this now. I've heard there are over 800 signatures asking for resignation. You can sign it at area businesses in McTown or contact the school board member in your district.

Sign the letter? Isnt that what got her the job this last time? Our great supporters signing a letter to "give" her the job. Its so easy to see, you cant make anybody in Warren County sports happy. Politics is the name of the game. I lived here my whole life too. Im a fan, supporter, and a parent of a child in the sports program. If she does lose her job I hope its not cause of a freaking letter some mad parents and players are passing around. Every sport and every program "we"(meaning wc supporters) have somebody screams "fire the coach". This is a joke. Pat Head Summitt couldnt make some of you people happy. You'd still have something to complain about. Am I a big Eades fan? Not really but she is our coach and we have to live with it.

  13. Trust me, Nitro. Hargis knows everything, just ask him. Why hasn't he/she solved the war yet or created a cure for the world's diseases? If you post on here, you are qualified to diagnose the problems here in the WC. If you haven't followed these teams for years and watched or in the know, keep the philosophy in your county, Hargis!! Like I said before, I respect her personally, but not professionally in coaching. You may think I am attacking you, BUT you try to sound smarter than you really are.

Come on guys relax. Hargis is entitled to his own opinion just like you guys and gals are too. Lets get off the coach and encourage our young ladies. Every year it ends this way. Our girls read this, if we all say this coach cant do this and this coach needs to do that, I think our girls get down and start doubting the whole system. Play hard girls thats all we ask. You are not measured on wins and losses. You are measured by your heart and your effort. Go Lady Pioneers!!!!!!!!

  14. gonna be a longggggggggggggg season

Typical Warren County post. Just relax. This team only has 3 starters returning from last year's squad. We are going to take our lumps early. One positive from the game is none of the players quit or gave up. Dekalb Co. played well offensively. The QB is a really good player. It was a test for our whole new secondary and linebackers and our lack of experience showed. Dont give up on these kids. I was close to the field and heard alot of positive coaching and feedback to the players. That was nice to hear and see. Tip your hat to DC they played a heck of a game. Pioneers keep working hard and good things will happen.

  15. I didn't go to the game, but I work with one of the players father. He said we finally hit the ball pretty good!

Josh Mullins (lefty) threw for Warren and a lefty #42 started for Siegel. Siegel used 3 or 4 pitchers. Warren jumped out early with 4 runs in the 1st. Timely hits and a few mishaps on the siegel defense led to the early lead. Warren was on top 7-1 during the early innings. Siegel came back and tied it 7-7 in the 6th. Siegel scored runs in the 4th,5th,&6th innings to tie it up. Warren then scored 3 in the bottom of the 6th to hold on for the victory. Costly errors hurt both teams but a very competive game.

  16. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. But I have to tell you I saw almost every football game and was not impressed with the mullican kid as a QB at all!

Ok i agree not a good QB but a decent athlete. But we do need to see improvement in the program that is 100% true.

  17. Let me say first of all you are WAY WAY off about sitting the bench and the jaycee star! I agree with you that there is real talent in boro schools, but WC is one of the largest high schools in the state yet they can't compete? I can't believe that in the entire school system there is no talent maybe its just no one likes to play on a losing team I don't know. I also think like Nitro said some of these coaches need to take a look in the mirror. Don't you think that if WC had the kind of coaches the boro had things would be different? The only problem with that is WC couldn't actually get a decent coach with the records WC carries? There may not be the talent in WC like in boro but I think the talent is better than what the records shows. So are you saying that none of the sports programs have any talent that is why they can't compete?

I dont agree with the boro coaches coming here things would be different. I think if Smith or whichever WC coach had those players here in WC, i honestly think our records would be better. Im really not sure if we have a lot of talent in our basketball program anyways. I see alot of slow spot shooters. You cant win in AAA with just that.Thats so easy to defend. All you have to do is make them put the ball on the floor and disrupt them. Thats what teams do against us. You are the one that said we cant compete in any sport. I beg to differ. Football has come along way and seems to be on the rise. Baseball is consistent and competitive almost every year. You need great athletes to win consistently in basketball. The most talented athletes in the world are basketball players. Football we had a few skill players thats why we are on our way up. There are not many guys that are better athletes than Rich, Officer, Dunn, Harris and Mullican to name a few.Baseball you dont need great athletes to win day in day out. We compete. I just dont think we have the great talent pool thats playing to win consistenty in basketball or footall

  18. You have made me laugh so hard I fell out of my seat. YOU apparently don't know the Daniels kids or these coaches. You also couldn't have watched a boys basketball game. If you think WC has some fine coaches then you need to get out more! They are a joke in EVERY sport out there. Nothing will change regardless of your so called "Whiners and quitters" until WC cleans house in EVERY sport. There is talent in all the sports programs at WC yet year after year they underachieve why do you think that is?? Becuase they are whiners or quitters come on....really you need to get a clue. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

You have just made me laugh. Ive seen a few basketbll games this year and i have seen the kid play football. He is tough, aggressive, and plays hard all the time. But that doesnt make him talented. Im not knocking the kid at all. Talent? Exactly what do you mean by talent? Good high school athletes dont underachieve they play to the best of their ability. Thats what we have at WC. Real Talent is in the boro schools. Thats talent. Guys going D1 or any college levl all the time. Not every once in a blue moon. If warren county is so full of talent where are they at? Example if you are talented some college coach is going to find you. Paz is at Tech. He won 4 games in his high school football career with coach that we have now. I dont care how bad a coach is if a player is talented he will find a place to play in college. I guess the talent im lookin for is the different from the talent you see. You or your son must be the one on the end of the bench or a jaycee all star. There is only 2 kids off that whole team that can sniff any college court. One happens to be 6"7 and the other is a good athlete the Weir kid. So tell me where are the talented kids in any sport.

  19. I respect your opinion as well. I don't think I am vebally killing these coaches. On #1, I have to agree with you on that. Do you think it would be conducted the same way if there were nobody watching or if several parents were there? Just asking. #2 we all agree Ryan is a fine kid and coaches sometimes need to get there attention. If he has tried different approaches, has he sat the team down and try to get their opinions and ideas on what they can do to turn this thing around? Not to sound corny or anything, but when I am having problems in different aspects at work I talk with my employees and you'd be suprised how many times their input has helped us work through the tough times. This "My way or the Highway" crap doesn't work all the time.

I agree why are we tryin to kill the coach. Brothers quit at different ages of their career? That just is not right. Parents have to step up and say start what you finish. WC has fine coaches in all sports its time for these students athletes to take pride in wearing a high school jersey. Run them all off, if they quit they dont want to be there anyways. Coaches run the programs not the players and parents. Eades, Madewell, and Smith keep your head up people here always want to complain about something. Weed out the quitters and whiners and the programs will be headed in the right direction.

  20. For those of you who where at the game, a few questions. Who looked to have the most talent? Why did WC run out the clock in the first half with all their time outs and the ball at mid-field with over a minute to go and their kicker had all ready nailed a 45 yarder? What about the pass interference call in the first half against WC when the reciever couldn't have caught the ball if he was on a motercycle because it was so far overthrown? Did Coach Thompson put on a coaches clinic or what? How can LC be in a prevent defense at the end of the game and three D Lineman still get to the QB?

Lincoln County was the most talented team between the two. Why did WC run out the clock? We have no passing game at all. We throw a pick they get the ball back and maybe score. You have to take the lead in at halftime against a good team on the road. i dont know what we can do the rest of the way but we need a new offensive scheme. Pounding the ball is not working against bigger and stronger teams and thats what we face the rest of the way. If the QB does not throw it then we cant pass the ball either. Offensively we are getting beat bad.

  21. QUOTE(hardball23 @ Apr 6 2007 - 10:09 AM) 826431263I think good teams are made in the summer. Look what Riverdale does ever summer.

The last I heard all of Warren County's players play for the great Parker in the summer. Is he not developing those guys? He had 6-7 off last years team and only one is playing college ball (Killian).

  22. QUOTE(14pioneers @ Apr 5 2007 - 07:52 PM) 826430962In Warren County it is the coaches knowledge, or lack thereof, in all sports that makes the difference. We haven't had a coach who was a true difference maker in any sport since Ricky Morris was in town. Not enough credit was ever given to Morris when he was here, coach walker made his livimg off of Morris's ability to get the pioneer's ready in the summer and fall. Don't ever estimate the power of a TRUE difference maker as coach, if we still had Ricky we would reload every year and coach Walker knows this and any other parent or player who was lucky enough to have been associated with Morris. There is enough talent on this year/s team to contend.

Thats hilarious. I guess Ricky was on the staff when we were contenders every year in the late 80's and early 90's.Not to mention state champs in 1992. I guess he is the reason we had a bunch of guys drafted in the 90's. Walker and Brown are the reason we have developed a good program.
