Given the option of building up their goalkeeper or attempting to tear down an opponent, they chose the latter. Enough said.

A parent's job is to CHEER for their daughter.  Period.

    Not yell at a ref.

Not berate a teen age young lady.

    Not argue with fans.

BLESS YOUR DAUGHTER WITH WORDS OF AFFIRMATION.

Sounds cheesy.... but it works.  Trust me.

  2. Me "Why did the center back them up 15 yards?!?"

4th official "the rule states AT LEAST 10 yards, coach.  That is how it is written"

NFHS rule 8-1-2 "Players opposing the kicker shall be at least 10 yards from the ball until it is kicked."

Me: "So, by that logic, he could back them up 50 yards and be within the rule?"

    4th official "......."

Mckenzie lost the game fair and square. The conflict was that the player made up the story about the official calling her the N word because she had two yellow cards and was about to get a third one. she made up the story to get out of the not playing on Saturday against Memphis Business Academy. Westview has a horrible fan base, they were calling McKenzie players the B word and other things. Also a westview coach pushed an official during the game. Westview is by far the roughest and dirtiest team I have seen in quite a while. Get ready for them in the state tournament.

How can a player have 2 yellow cards without being thrown out?

  4. The Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association Senior All Star Game is set for

    Saturday, November 3.

    2:00 PM

    Hendersonville Drake's Creek Field

Nominations need to be send to Coach Harper by Friday October 26
Coaches must be a THSSCA member in order for players to participate.
Players must be a senior and able to attend (please check availability before nominating).

Nomination link  NOTE:  The site has not been updated so the dates are from the boys season.  The link will still work, however.

Any questions, please email Greg Harper at greg.harper@sumnerschools.org

  5. Moondog and Elmer probably are sharing the same glue.

The game started off with DCA having the run of play.  They have a couple of girls who, when working together, really gave some good looks at goal.

Faith is always a threat from most any distance.

I think when they get everyone healthy, they will do some damage.  Coach Smith knows his stuff.

In D2 A, just having a couple of injuries can really make a huge impact.

    Moon,

Of course he is.  I'm just having a little fun gigging Elmer over his incorrect assumption.  I don't know of a single poster (except maybe booger) who would ever talk smack about Big G.  The man has been there and done that a good many times.

Ha ha.... you haven't been here long enough to go back to the EastTNref days....

And booger PICKS on everyone so...

Elmer, you haven't been sniffing your glue again, have you?

    He probably has been...

Not sure if Mountain is referring to the club coach using this "tactic" or me.

Either way, "going to the corners" has served me well over the past 25 years.  It might not be a popular tactic, but it definitely wins games.

I do NOT condone players intentionally kicking a ball away, or walking slowly to a ball, but I do stress to be smart about restarts.  No need to sprint to get the ball back in.

My thoughts have always been, if we have the ball, they don't.  So if we possess to the corner, they can't score.

If we cross and score another goal, GREAT!  But if we miss or the keeper saves it, then that gives the opponent the chance to counter and score (of which Oak Ridge was doing quite well near the end).

I think Oak Ridge will do quite well.  Their last goal was a CRACKER from about 30 yards out!  Good luck to Gorman and the Lady Wildcats!

CPA defeated the Oak Ridge Lady SoccerCats 4 - 3. I followed the game by Tweets and it must have been a fun match to attend. Proud of the OR players and wish CPA all the best.

    It was a fun match.

    1-0 CPA

    1-1 OR

    1-2 OR

    2-2

    3-2 CPA

    4-2 CPA

    4-3 CPA

A few more minutes and OR might have tied it up!

Great to see Gorman back in the saddle.  He will get those teams ready for the post season!

I don't know about that. Those schools are very good. The game last year vs WHH was pure luck to get a 3-3 tie. They outplayed DCA from start to finish. DCA will be an underdog in most of the early season games this year. Heck, CPA with its maestro as a coach will likely run over DCA again. That coach is just too good. :)

Its my last season as a soccer parent on coachT so I'm excited, sad, and nervous. Lol Thank you for the well wishes.

    Aw shucks....  I'm blushing!

It sure aint the coach that get's the CPA team going.... he just rolls out a bad of balls and then takes a nap in the soccer shed.

I thought it was 9, but tonight i had to remind a ref of mercy rule at goal number 8 and at 10-0 he finally ended the game. I also heard giles beat marshal 11-1. So did it get changed to 10 because the rule book says 9 goal difference

    Cobra is right.

    At 5-0 it's a "running clock".

At HALF, if there is a 9 goal differential (at any time after the start of the second half), the game is over.

  12. Props to BGA.  They finished 4th in the region and then came on like gangbusters having to travel to CAK, then St. Georges, then play us for the third time.  They executed their game plan very well.  My hats off to them.

I’ve completely given up on this. I just scroll right through his posts.

In all seriousness, Booger, is it really worth the time it takes you to type this way?

Oh, it is definitely worth my time (don't know if it is worth his, though)!  Ha ha.

    Booger just sayin :thumb:

You realize it takes me about 10 minutes to translate your posts into something I can read, right?

I imagine it takes you about as long to put it in Booger-ese...

Well Boog I'm not familiar with any of those wins/losses except this past game. I've never had a child play boys high school soccer so my opportunity to see Zeig in action was this single game. All I know is what I saw and it was ridiculously childish and did not paint him, or his school, in the best light. Hope that ends this odd deflection angle for you?

It was in fact surreal. I've seen plenty of sideine antics across just about every team sport out there for 40 years and this was a two time enraged tantrum that I haven't witnessed before. Now, as usual, you try and dismiss any comment I make by using wins/losses, scores, or some other odd stance with regularity so I generally, like most, ignore you. However this one, since you've kept this thread rolling along, deserved to be mentioned. I know Zeig apologized to DCAs coach for his actions but honestly it was so bizarre the T needed a laugh over it. I will add though that maybe Big G , if that's who you spoke with, should ask Matt Smith how rediculous Zeigs actions were? Right? I mean, G knows Matt well and Matt is well respected in the area by coaches in both the boys and girls programs. As an even keeled, former missionary, and college soccer coach, Matt is a pretty good judge of what a coach should and shouldn't do don't you think? Also, G can speak to me directly like we did the night of his semifinal win against BGA , and my good friend coach Rob Mitchell. Chatting with a D2 coach Thursday night at D1 he laughed and wasn't surprised at Zeigs actions. Maybe G should probably leave the assumptions and theories for you to quip about here on the T so you can further your "T cred." Lol

Boog have you ever thought that sometimes you should just let things be? I mean, the attempt to minimize the idiocy portrayed by a leader of young men would cause most adults to pause, then move along. You don't help yourself by bumping this thread and continually putting it at the top of this page. No doubt Zeig acted poorly and should his AD have an ounce of school pride I'm sure your friend Zeig received a talking to. You can keep commitmenting and I'll keep shooting down your "theories" if you'd like but maybe you'll mature, stop defending the indefensible, and just move on? It's not in your nature to close your pie hole but we can always hope. Fingers crossed. Just sayin.

Don't bring me into this.... I didn't talk to Boogs.

never ever......ole Zieg is the first and only ever soccer coach to perform with such emotion on a sideline.....and whats the big deal...its was just a warning flag....seen bout 10 coaches get one this year...

......Booger willin to lay down double or nuthin on a Andrew Jackson and a bologna sammich that the author of this hear new threads school was on the losin end of the contest afformentioned......and that Ziegs hissy fit ant near as SURREAL if Haslams School of Knoxville had lost...

...and Zieg can kick a ball further than 120 feet

    Booger just sayin S8uiEk.gif

    1.  Hilarious GIF

    2.  I'm not taking that bet

    3.  I am sure he can kick it further than 120 feet

    4.  Such wisdom from Booger.  Never thought I would say that.

Is it true?  Did the Spartans upset Whitehouse?  I checked and WH was up 2-1 in the  second half then a 3-2 Stratford final was posted.

Nope, Lost one of our starting center backs with about 15 mins left in the first half with a ruptured bursa on a slide tackle at end line...

I guess I was mistaken with my previous statement, Station Camp put two on us in the fist game back for our other CB after torn ACL early in the football season.

Rare is the team that is full strength at this point of the year.

Hope your center back is better now.  I think you all will make a deep run, even without him.

The scouting report says they are fast on top with a solid, patient midfield. Haven’t seen them myself, but I will take our mids over any group I have seen in the last four years. Our backs are tough solid and disciplined. We have yet to give up a goal when at full strength this year. If we are focused and aggressive right from the rip... I like our chances.

Were you not at full strength against us?
