  1. KL, I talked with him today and he is not interested in it. He said that he will stay on as an assitant if the new coach wants him to. He never applied and never considered applying for it. So I guess the Hardee's breakfast table was off on this one. However I do know that the new head coach will be revealed sometime Friday. Whitwell starts their Spring Football camp on Monday and they are scrimmaging Bledsoe Co. the next Tuesday May 12. Good luck to the new coach and his staff. Get behind them and support your Tigers!!

coachtigerball...aka (thacker) they were not interested in you as the head coach...so dont pretend you werent interested...

  2. yea like burning coaches cars to get rid of them. thats support Whitwell style. we dont need that kind of support and dont want that kind of support. we play hard and work hard and do the best we can. coach taylor told some of us the reason he is leaving and we cant blame him. as for coach thacker he is a far cry better than coach powell ever was. at least he wants to win ball games and not look good for the ladies. the problem with Whitwell for the four years i've been here is the medling parents that have no clue but want to try and run all the programs. most of em aint ever played before but they think they no better. find us a football coach. leave us alone. leave coach alone. and let us play with Tiger Pride. ya'll ruin every sport we got by sticking your noses in where they dont belong.

this idiotic post is why we are glad you aint coaching us anymore. go on and leave WHS alone. you're the reason the football program is so down anyway.

sounds like you may grow up to be one of thosemeddling parents since you know so much....whitwell would be wise to hire coby holtcamp or let condra take back over

  3. Bill,

All I know is that in the third quarter that SP was up by 24. That is when KL hit the doors. Phillips and Company had the Thack Attack well in hand, so KL got out of Tiger gym before the traffic got bad. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

ended up close to 50...................guess there wasnt much attack from thack

  4. PC has fell off because these current players have had little to no playing experience before this year, I think we are all just gonna have to be patient. I think this is a major turning point in the season for PC. This team needs to start playing up to its potential, to start making plays instead expecting everyone to hand it to them because they were Pickett Co across their chest. The ways of the world are that life isn't fair and that only the strong survive. I say Bibb needs to stick with his starting five, cause they have earned the right to start. But I think where we need to start looking is not only to this year, but also to next year, and the year after. I think Joe Dowdy, Sam Cummings are gonna be solid for this year and next, Both have a chance to be thousand point guys. Jacob Brown plays scared, his defense is sub-par and when he isn't shooting or shooting well, he has no right to even be on the court. John Sells, he plays hard, tough on defense, and a guy you want to be on the court with ya, but his offense is non existent and he can't give them points in the paint that this team needs. Ben Aaron needs to take some pointers from his uncle Nathan and start learning how to be ready to catch and shoot, because teams are giving him that shot and he is passing on it 75% of the time. Heath Elder has the chance as a sophomore to be a really good center in this district for the next three years, he can score when they get him the ball, he's physical, tough as nails, and I don't understand why Bibb doesn't give him more mins. I know he's only a sophomore, but he is the only shot at a scoring threat in the paint other than Cummings and Dowdy slashing inside. Another thing that is wrong with this program is in the jr. high ranks. The coaching down there just isn't what it used to be, so players aren't getting as developed as they once where. Once players could come in as freshman and play major rolls. We've got to do something about our jr. high system.

I don't know, that's my two cents worth, I guess things aren't as bad as they seem and their is a sun over the horizon somewhere, and I'm just a frustrated bobcat fan.

Id sure hate to be this kids parents and reading this........this may have a ring of truth to it but calling him out like that good grief.....remember they are just kids

  5. This one could be one for the ages. If memory serves correctly, Coach Thacker is a former player of Coach Phillips at Marion. I think the Pirates are too athletic for the Tigers. This game could be close for a little while, but I can see SP pulling away and winning by 30+ points.

One for the ages? Whitwell needs to worry about getting their first win! Did he actually play? All that stuff is irrelevant SP will name the score

  6. No offense to Heath, but are you nuts? i don't see how you can lose as many minutes as you did and get a new coach with no in game experience (not taking a shot at Coach Thacker, but in game experience is a very important thing, ask any coach) and expect to go into their new gym (as their first home game as i understand it) and against a good coach and great athletes and sweep? You are outside your mind, be realistic here. I understand you should have the confidence to win and that's why they play the game, but on paper do you honestly believe this?

what's up alum? hope all is well and hope the new job is going well... i will have to disagree with you though i see the marion/SP games as a split

I gotta agree...they lost their starting five and a coach that had been coaching a few years and replaced that with 5 new starters and a coach who has no experience other than junior pro...again im like you not taking a shot just being realistic....and all ive heard is the kids have to buy in to the system or have to get on board with the program....people are talking like jason smith or david phillips took over...a first year coach probably doesnt have much of a "system" or a "program" yet...takes time to develop

all that being said i could see marion and south pitt splitting and sequatchie and marion splitting....not a ton of difference between the three...the top end of the valley looks pretty good...the bottom looks really weak just my opinion though.....that and a few million can get you 30 mins on tv with obama

  7. Why yall not giving no love to Whitwell? We gonna be good this year. Coach Thack and Coach Shanks are bringing discipline to the team and we are gonna suprise sum people this year.

from what i saw watching whitwell play twice a year (against sequatchie) discipline effort and coaching hasnt been the problem....its udually looked like a lack of size and talent...........losing five starters is tough and breaking in two new coaches who have never coached before is not gonna be easy

  8. I think that the list goes this way:

    1. South Pitt - With loads of talent and some good coachinng this team might give some of the Chattanooga teams a run for their money.

    2. Sequatchie Co. - They are always ready to play and have some of the best coaching in the valley.

    3. Marion Co. - I think their spot depends on whether or not Guyear plays or not. Coach Keef always has his team prepared and has great support from the community.

    4. Whitwell - New coach and graduating five starters form last years team makes a difficult year for the Tigers. They will be one of the best working teams around if they buy into the new system.

    5. Bledsoe - Same boat as Whitwell with a new coach and new system.

    Good luck to all teams

Id be interested to hear about the "new system" im sure its filled with goodies

  9. no prowler....borther love is the legend who used to walk the sidelines when we were competitive(aka 6-5 baby!!!!!!)......too bad he's not calling plays or doing anything anymore.......i dont think its just players holding on to the ball....our line lays down faster than a call girl....those boys are so big but they need to be taught how to block.....and big red indian you better watch your step homes or you might get erased!

i dont even know what to say to that!! what about the game guys...does LV have to much speed or does whitwell over power them with size?

  10. Well out here on the mountain we know all about that Taylor guy. Ya'll can have em. Don't know nuttin bout no Hacker guy. Is he the one they done got from Jasper? If he is cant be much to him. Dont recollect ever hearing his name. Some of them good Jasper players you know their name but cant place him. Like Gramps use to say you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear. That means it dont matter who be coaching them tigers they still Whutwull and they still are in the Great Valley and they still aint no good. My yeller jackets win this one by a bunch.

now delmar ...........thacker was a legend just ask him!

  11. Heath has been placed in a tough spot. He was hired just three weeks before school started so he hasn't had any time with the boys this summer. He is following a coach who was very popular among the students, faculty and community. He is coming in on the heels of an unfortunate event that has shaken the school and community. All of this with little or no experience coaching at this level of organized ball. That is a very tall order for a young man to fill. The only way that he will be able to survive is for the community to rally behind him and give him and the team their full support. They have to give him a chance to prove himself. Again, I wish him the best of luck.

i agree purplegrad heath is in a very difficult situation for any coach to step in to let alone some one with zero coaching experience. i wouldnt hang my hat on being a youth league coach when youre having to make tough decisions in close games. i agree to that he is in a tough spot coming in after a coach as you said was popular among the students faculty and community. it wouldve been alot smarter if the new principal and asst. principal had advertised interviewed and hired someone with coaching experience. this would have made the transition much easier for the team to believe in someone they knew had a knowledge of the game. now heath is going to coach everyday being comapred with someone who had coaching experience. thats not neccesarily fair for him.

  12. QUOTE(Fitzi40 @ Mar 19 2007 - 07:35 PM) 826417898[/snapback]Condra69 does know alot about sports, so I wouldn't question him. Your first comment, Condra69, made complete sence to me.

ok one last question and ill let it rest....how in the world does not having confidence in the pitcher cause you to drop a routine flyball in leftfield, over throw the first basemen, and have trouble fielding a grounder? Seems to me those are routine plays you should make regardless of who is pitching.......i may be completely off track here
