Greenback in a walk. The rest of the teams are very, very even. Look for Sunbright, Oakdale, Oneida, Coalfield, Midway, and even CAK to be in dog-fights Friday after Friday. It has the makings of a great fall season for Region 2. However it really looks like in the near future CAK will be the one to beat in Region 2 1A. With the hiring of former Bearden coach Bill Young and a couple of his assistants it appears CAK is serious about joining the exclusive club of private schools who are willing to pay any price necessary to buy a winning football team. You read it here first. I support the public schools plight, but I can see the writing on the wall after various conversations with CAK supporters about the amount of money being spent on everything from their facilities to hiring UT Strength coaches this past off-season. I also remember in fall of '94 when Boyd Buchanan was 0-10, then went 10-0 the following season. And how long ago was it again that this years defending state champion Ezell-Harding had a losing football program? Oh yeah, just a couple of years ago, what was I thinking. It sure would be the dream of all the Region 2 1A coaches to be able to spend money like it was no object and simply go out and get the players you need to build a championship program. Money? No problem, remember work study. (Shhhh)
