That sounds about right. That'll make the Ravenwood v. McCallie, and the MBA v. McCallie games even more competitive. I'm not sure if there are just semifinal matchups with 4 teams or if there are 6 teams and quarterfinal matchups the week before the finals.
We were looking at a previous bracket from about 2 years ago, the quarter final games pit the #2 team from the east against #3 team from the west. The winner would play the #1 team from the west. Then vice versa for the other side of the bracket. Unless they changed the format, this year should follow suit as well.

How about James Banker from MBA for top defenseman? While Jackson has 6 take aways and 16 loose balls, Banker has 24 take aways and 26 loose balls. Those stats seem pretty lopsided so I wouldn't be saying Jackson is the hands down best defender in the state.
McCallie's info on statsdepot has only been updated through their gilman game so Jackson has those stats for 4 games, while banker's numbers are for 10 games.
On a stats per game basis, Jackson has 1.5 take aways per game, and 4 ground balls per game. Banker has 2.4 TA and 2.6 GB. Putting the two at a sort of stalemate by that point of reference. Though I have no doubt that Banker is a very good pole the numbers arent clear enough to establish him as better than the 1st team all state stud that the swab is.

Per Laxpower,
McCallie 10, Memphis Univ School 9
Closer than I would have thought.
6-10 with 2 minutes left, MUS fights hard to come back with 13 players on the field (3 refs)

Id like to see them do good against gilman. Anyone know who replaced gregor as theyre primary face off guy? Any good?
We've got some pretty solid sophmores and juniors who will face.

Also, MBA has a new head coach, John Harvey. Harvey has been the defensive coordinator the last two years. He replaces Dan Cooper, who will now coach the 8th grade team. Harvey is also the head ice hockey coach and has led the Big Red to a 15-2-1 regular season record and a birth in the playoffs. Harvey played college lacrosse at Virginia. Good luck to John and the Big Red this year!
what else does the big red have going for them this year

How is everyone looking this year? Who is going to be the team to beat? What guys are going to really step it up and play some ball this year?

Is there a brunch in the making before the match?
Bobby Huffaker will be feasting on the Baylor 215 wrestler in a fashion most comparable to David Acomba's Night of the Living Dead circa 1989. Where the main zombie rips the pizza guy's head off with his teeth and manages to nick the jugular. With Bobby being the zombie, and the Baylor guy being the headless blood fountain. Seriously, the trainer went ahead and brought a three dozen or so extra towels.
Mayhem will ensue

I heard Robinson was wrestling 145. I don't know if its true but I'm pretty sure i'm right
glascock might have hurt his back, so derek osbourne might wrestle 103 if his hamstring gets better

Bell-Young, Young-Manson, Young-Hussein, Goss-Doster, Sing-Whitaker, Still-Green, no matter what coach moves who their are going to be some fantastic matchups. Go Red!
Robby Robinson will be a must see match no matter who he wrestles

didn't manson pretty much control young at the McCallie invit? I seem to remember that but could be wrong.
Looking forward to some great indiv matchups including young and manson.
From what I saw it was a very very close match, manson pulled one out in the last couple of seconds, making me believe anything can happen on saturday. That is to say if the two get matched up together.

It won't be a good game because it's close. The only reason to go would be to see the rivalry. Baylor will blow them out behind the deep shots of Plavich and Darden.
McCallie 61
Baylor 48

my guess is that baylor has a few tricks up their sleeves. i heard that they were gonna bump dan up to wrestle robinson.

Yeah...that brings up a good point.
I think it is ridiculous how people feel the need to nag and complain about the teams who won, or the all-american players. Like kaplan said, that is terrible sportsmanship, and plus, those who won, deserved to win.
For example, somebody (im not mentionaing any names) posted all of the people who deserve all american honors more than sam sawyer(#19 from MUS) and why. That is sooooo pathetic because I know personally, because i am a mccallie boarder from memphis and used to go to MUS, that sam sawyer works his BUTT of everyday, and he deserved every ounce of that title. I know people are upset because they got "screwed" out of getting All-state or All- American honors, but if you didnt get it that means your coach doesn't think you deserve it, and you should get out there and make it happen.
I'm going to do you all a favor and stop preaching now.

In the all-state choosing, a coach does not vote for his own players. Then all the other coaches' votes are added up to make the choices. So each all state player is elected by the other team's coaches

Tomorrow starts the big dance. Some teams might even be leaving tonight. Scores, predictions or any general trash talk should be done here. Best of luck to everyone tomorrow.

It was a very close game (7-7) all the way up until the 2nd half, but Lovett broke away and Lassiter got to anxious to stay in the game that their hurried play kept them out of it.

Every team has played some D-2 teams and a lot of the top point leaders in D-1 have put up big numbers against those teams. Those same players (top point leaders) have put up big numbers against tough D-1 teams. Basically the top point leaders are all quality players.
Some schools that have lack of quality depth will have players on thier team with lopsided numbers. Teams like Webb, USN, Farragut, Father Ryan dont have as much depth as teams like MUS, MBA, McCallie, CBHS. That what makes the things those players (on the temas of Webb, USN, Ryan, Farragut)do so special.
The top few players of these schools can compete with the top players of the "Big 4". The Big 4 just have more goood players.
McCallie has not played a single D2 team all season

Numbers alone should not be a very big part of the decision without consideration of the kind of games the numbers came from. Putting up 6 or so points against a division 2 or a lesser team is not as impressive as 3 or 4 against a much better team. Scoring alot in a 15-0 game does not indicate that a player is as good if he had put up points in a good close game. While some of the aforementioned players in the post may be leading the state in points, hopefully the coaches at the conference will consider the quality of the wins and the games.

Quite honestly, he has stepped up and had a huge senior season with some huge games with 15 plus saves against highly ranked teams like Gilman, Milton and Lassiter
