ummm i havent heard any coachs here in rutherford county in favor for what we have now, they just say the schdule is what it is which everybody here consistantly plays teams out of district in the top 10 because other teams coachs wanna schdule wins so we play the teams from other districts nobody else wants to play or the private schools along with williamson county teams "thanks coach crawford who consistantly schdules 2 or 3 from rutherford cty each year" and less travel now jet did you read my post about schools in this district and travel? if we arent traveling to the memphis area chatt or knoxville we are traveling out of state

 

does anybody know when the new stewarts creek high school will open?

My Daughter goes to the Stewarts creek elem. School right now and everyday i see them working hard on this high school. It doesn't open till 2013 school year

and dont forget about the $1 parking at oakland and riverdale, lucky for me i live across the street from riverdale now and walk to the game and save a buck lol

You know why that player said that? He's prolly mad that he doesn't play because he isn't any good and wants to blow something out of proportion. I understand that you might be concerned for the safety of yourself and your players, but the city of Memphis does everything they can to keep players and spectators safe during games. If you think that the city will not take extra measures after this incident, you are mistaken.

I don't know if he is good or not or of he doesn't play. Maybe someone on here can tell me since I don't keep up with memphis football...

Regardless, I'm sure they have been taking extra precautions since the 1st one but it isn't working. I wish nothing but the best of luck to Memphis and was simply stating my opinion.

Sad thing is,not a lot of money would be lost.There are a lot of games played in Memphis where 100-150 paying "fans" would cover the entire attendance.Very inconvienant for the teams/fans,but maybe a secure,neutral field should be chosen and play 4 games there on Saturday in a few locations citywide.Daylight seems to dissuade some of the "thugs" brashness,and security would be easier for officials.Just a thought,maybe not plausable,but something has to be done.

The utter AUDACITY of you Folks from the Middle and East Tenn amazes me. In the city of good abode we have some fools. It is what It is. There is crime and people who own guns throughout this State. If you have to come to Memphis for a game and ACTUALLY believe you're going to get shot, just stay home... As a person who was born and bred in Memphis I'll be darned if you folks talk about my city like its a war zone. Its not! Its just a sad incident that happens when you got a city full of want to be thugs. Of all the HS Football games that have happened this year this has only been reported twice. I mean come on now. It's bad but not as bad as you people would like it to be.

I'm sorry I want to avoid your city and that I'd rather NOT go to there for a game. I'd be worried someone would think I looked at them wrong.. I'm sorry I dont want to be shot... I know it could happen anywhere but obviously it's more prevalent there.

And for the record this is the 3rd time this season.

I'd also like to add that i know for a fact of a certain player on a football team down there who has posted on twitter. I go to such and such school and I don't even want to go to the home games in which I play and I'm On the team.

So obviously it's just not middle and east tenneseeans who don't want to come.

Siegel charges $7. I have been told that Lavergne upped theirs to $7 also. I will find out Friday night. Blackman and Smyrna kept theirs at $6 this year to help out families such as yours and mine. I don't know if Oakland went to $7 or not.

 

Also...playoff games are $8. $4 goes to TSSAA, $2 goes to home school, and $2 goes to visiting school.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about that. I went to Lavergne but I forgot.. I think they charged us 6$ each but I really don't remember.

Even tho yes my 6yr old actually does watch the game I think $7 is alot to pay for her lol.

I believe when we went to Hendersonville they only charged me $1 for my daughter and I liked that idea because they are still getting money. I'd even be ok with $3 for a kid but whatever. I'm not going to stop going lol

The funniest comment of Friday night was the Brentwood announcer saying "the player was down by contact". I'm not sure that applies to high school. I think in high school if you're down, you're down.

 

And the best thing about Brentwood football is the price of the game ticket (only $5). No wonder people in Williamson County have more money.

Lol $5 must be nice. Paying 7$ for me and 7$ for my 6yr old daughter at Riverdale gets old! I wonder if any place charges more then 7$ besides state championship games...

After watching the Smyrna game against Oakland last week they looked great. If you play that well again you for sure can beat Siegel. And wow how awesome that would be from three weeks ago wondering if y'all even had a chance to get in playoffs to that small chance y'all have at getting second.

When I say small chance I'm only referring to the Blackman vs Lavergne game, I don't see the blaze losing to Lavergne. However, Riverdale beating Oakland and y'all winning is very possible. Good luck and I hope y'all have a great game with no injuries!!!

I'm glad Riverdale is in the east bracket. I don't want to go to Memphis and play... This is sad for both teams involved. Football games down there should be closed and for parents brothers and sisters of the athletes only. Yes alot of money will be lost but that's dangerous.

I think in the 1st half our defense played great. There was the long pass that cookeville scored on that I was unhappy with the coverage. Also there was 2 other times I can recall we left there players wide open they just couldn't come up with the catch. So we lucked up on those.

Our offense played excellent in the 1st half I believe. I don't think we had to punt 1 time during that time and put up several great drives with scores.

The 3rd quarter our defense didn't play as well yes they had stopped them on those 2 long drives which was nice. I was just upset we had plenty of chances but kept giving up the 1st down.

I'll also say there was a few times I was upset about the officiating. Some placements on both sides of the ball was not accurate. I'm not talking about placements on the 10s and 20s.. I'm talking about around the 50s and 40s where I could clearly see straight on that it was off.. Then again it may be just me.

Lastly I will say at the end of the game we were right there and for him to take a knee on all 4 downs instead of trying to run the ball for the easy TD.. speaks volumes for our coach. I loved coach rankin and I think he may have even went ahead and took the TD or the FG. 51 to 7 sounds more impressive then 44-7.. Lol I'm greedy. Anyways I think we played way better then we did against Blackman. I'm happy to be going into the Oakland game like this.

It's Oakland, Riverdale wouldn't want the biggest embarrassment of the year to be a loss to Oakland. A win is a win, So if we didn't play our starters and lost because of it no one would say oh that's the only reason they loss- ppl would just be talking crap about o Oakland beat Riverdale whatever whatever. Id be happy with 3 scores up but I'm sure Oakland boys are pumped and would love nothing more then to knock us off our high horse!!! Lol

Lol even tho it couldn't happen exactly like this, I wouldn't like it. I wouldnt want to play Oakland at Riverdale for week 10 then turn around the very next week and put Oakland at Riverdale again. Not that I don't think we could win it would just be weird lol.

Lol it's very small. Your 35 member band may take up 1/4 of it though. If y'all can get 200 people between students, parents, and fans it would probably be more like y'all having home field advantage. They don't attract many more fans then probably the parents of the football and band students. I will say there band is pretty good. Plus the people who work the concession stand were nice.

Also I know most of the stadiums around here open up 2 hrs early. They didn't when Riverdale went there so maybe y'all shouldn't go quite as early if u do. There is parking in front of the school but then you have to walk all the way around in gravel to get to the visitor side. Or you can park on the visitor side because there is a gate over there.

I'm sure the warriors don't go out there thinking this is an easy win. It is homecoming so they will probably have a good turnout even tho it's not a Rutherford county team were playing. I know the warriors can pull it off but I honestly don't know alot about cookeville as I don't regularly follow them. Hopefully some cookeville posters will give us some insight....

So I'm at this game now, I have to admit I feel so awkward sitting up here! But me and my daughter both got on our purple so We blend in!

I'm sure u will be right, I want Blackman 2nd because y'all are hands down the best team we played. And contrary to many posters on this board believe y'all are not just a 1 trick pony. Yes I -train is a beast but y'all definitely have some offensive weapons besides him. Plus your defense isn't no slouch eitheir! Y'all pushed us to create those fumbles and the interception and really kept your selves in the whole game till the final seconds!

Blackman district championship hopes are gone but we can still finish 2nd. Here is what needs to happen. (2 Scenarios - maybe more)

Oakland beats Smyrna - knocks Smyrna out of contention for 2nd place - Go Patriots

 

Week 10

Blackman beats Wolverines - Would give Blackman 3-2 district record - Go Blaze

Smyrna beats Siegel - knocks Siegel out of contention for 2nd place - Go Bulldogs

Riverdale beats Oakland - Riverdale wins district championship and gives Oakland 2nd district loss.

Go Warriors - boy it was hard to type that.

 

Riverdale wins district at 5-0

Blackman and Oakland are tied at 3-2 and Blackman wins tiebreaker since Blackman beat Oakland

Siegel and Smyrna tie 2-3 so they would be 4th and 5th.

 

Or

Smyrna beats Oakland - Smyrna and Oakland each have 2 losses

 

Week 10

Blackman beats Wolverines

Riverdale wins district at 5-0

Wouldnt expect any thing else from a division game. Good win for the Warriors!! I hope the train is ok and we may see them again soon down the road....Cudo's to Strickland and Coach Shad for the game planning. its odvious they saw someting on film withthe short passing game. They took advantage of both starting corners being out. Blackman's improving and wouldnt expect any else from a Coach Shad team...No time for let downs, Cookevilles no patsy....Go Warriors....

I wasn't going to go to this game but since I dont think I have anything to do, Riverdale doesn't play, and I'm practically walking distance from Smyrna I will probably go.

It should be a great game, I want to see Oakland in action before we play them. As much as I usually want Oakland to win I want to see Smyrna in the playoffs.

Plus since my daughters cheer team is purple and gold I think I would have that color clothing to blend in with the Smyrna people! Hmm this sounds like a great possibility., I wish nothing but the best to each team and no more injuries!

In the paper, Coach Shad said that Mathers was cleared to continue playing but that he held him out. Probably a good call on his part. I saw Mathers running on the sideline at halftime and expected to see him back in.

 

Riverdale made a lot of mistakes and Blackman had some guys really step up. It was a great game with a lot of big plays.

 

Best player on the night was probably the QB for Blackman.

 

Am I correct that Riverdale started the game without either of their starting corners? I don't think Marcellous played very much last night. Is he still slowed by the knee injury against Lavergne? Will L. Brown be back this year?

 

A win is win...so we'll take it.

 

A lot of injuries last night for both teams, with more tough games ahead. Riverdale really needs to get healthy for the stretch run and the playoffs.

Lamar really wants to come back in and play. it was that he was hoping he could this week but I don't guess he was quite ready as his knee still bothers him. He did say before that when we play Oakland he thinks he can. It really depends I'm sure because it's not 100%, he lost alot of that muscle when he could barely walk or whatever. I'm sure the muscle will come back. I'm happy to see him walking around and moving it quite a bit, but I'm positive he will make a comeback. I just hope it's as soon as possible!

I also would like to say good game to Blackman, y'all out played us 1st half and got the fumble and the interception which was amazing and you kept us from doing just about anything. Then our on fault we missed the FG.

The second half y'all was still in it till they very end. I was scared!

I want to say Jalen Smith is awesome. He is a great receiver and I have known he was a beast receiver all along but seeing him make those touchdowns was great.

I hate what happened to I-train and hope he gets better, His brother does a good job running too so I'm happy he got a chance to play more!

Y'all are a great team and I wish y'all the best! Y'all definitely had me worried!

Let me make one thing perfectly clear: our only thought is avenging the loss in 2010 to Smyrna tommorrow night. We will get our chance to burn down the fighting teepee's in a few weeks.............
