  1. Tut, good to hear from you. How are things going in rutherford county. I'm not letting anyone under my skin, just wonderin' why he even cares. Leave us good ole Antioch boys alone. By the way, I'm semi retired anyway. I just show up to laugh at these kids and get a check.

  2. Why are you not a Head Coach now.

My wagon got stuck in the mud, and I can't get out. You can't be too smart to be reading this and responding with your intelligent responses. Best stay out of L.A. The title of this thread applies to you.

  3. I would play the kid that was the team player. Good attitude beats talent anyday. The kid is a winner, period. I think players should be rewarded for all the things they do, or don't ask kids to do them. I would not even let him play if he doesn't make the workouts and has not shown alot of committment. Bigchief, No furniture for you.

  4. Jason Bush and Tony Curry are very good coaches. Brad Peden is also good. A little play action pass are good plays. Hard to beat bootlegs and off- tackle play action . Also throw on downs other than 3rd and long. Also knowing Coach Brown he would either let them go or they would be better behaved' and they would be better players.

  5. Buddy is not a great coach, just a guy who tried to do things right, stay simple, and play the kids that had heart, practiced daily, knew what to do , and had a team attitude. Was a conservative coach that wanted players to execute and not beat themselves with mistakes. Any of those 3 finalist would have been a good choice.

  6. I did not know anyone else applied. If so, how did he get it. Also, name some good Antioch QB's that could throw. I think the single game of pass yardage was set in 2000 by Antwan McGlory. Just about 300 yards.

  7. Thanks for the English\Spelling lesson. I told you I went to Antioch. I do think you need to runtheball, but you have to be able to pass. I'm a better coach now because of being able to see another side of coaching from working with three other coaches. Also playing against teams that throw alot and studying them. Also I have spent alot of time in Alabama with a very successful high school that runs a no huddle run\pass offense from a 4-5 wide sets. I think this is also great sets to run from, 3-4 wide sets. But I still think option football is very hard to defend. Always a Bear. Thank God for allowing me to do this and having known Warren Dunn.

  8. It was a matter of principals. No , that is not a missed spelled word. Coaching is hard enough without having to worry about administrative support. So I told them to take this job and shove it. I don't have to be a head coach to have fun coaching. Also, next year I plan on being a head coach again.

  9. Great post. It is amazing how many people think yelling and cussing is coaching. A good coach will never sell out to win. This game is about doing things right and maybe one of the last things left that teach young men about being a man.

  10. Why do some coaches let kids still come out? I bet if he didn't look like a player he would not be allowed. I think this is spitting in the face of every kid who has been there all this time.

  11. When is it too late to let kids come out for football? Only new students to a school should be allowed to come out after practice begins. That's what I think. I here of some schools that let kids still come out. I feel this is so unfair to those kids who have been there all the time.

  12. Isn't it amazing that most people, this includes principals and fans, see only wins and on the field success as being a good coach. I know a coach who could not look in the mirror at himself because he had gone against what he knew was right. All the success in the world can not get that taste out of his mouth. Coaches please don't fall in this trap. Play the kids that earn it and are team players and you will sleep alot better.

  13. Please don't mention any team or player, but any of you players that do everything have any comments. I know there are a few of you that are living proof. Sadly if you ask some players they want to win so bad they don't care, but I really feel for the kid that busts his butt and never gets the chance until the star gets hurt or QUITS then the coach expects this kid to step up and play. Most time this kid has such a big heart that he does great proving that all along that you can win with him.

  14. It appears that winning is the only gauge used to determine if a coach is successful. What is more important, winning and selling out, or holding players accountable and playing with a player a little less talented , but does everything asked of him to be a team player only to be a back-up to a more talented ,less committed player. Championships don't mean alot if not done the right way. What do you think?
