  1. I'm not sure who bout---messi is, but he does not represent our program at White House. I do appreciate his support of our program. I took over in '94. There had been soccer for 3 years before I got here. It may have been co-ed at some point, but I've never coached that team. I was a football guy that was asked to coach soccer in order to keep the sport off of the football field. We won 2 games that year; the first two wins in program history. Those boys worked freaking hard!! I decided that if they were willing to give that kind of effort, I should as well. I did. We have been blessed all of these years with a feeder program in White House Youth Soccer at div 2 or 3 and those that choose to be a part of youth travel soccer at a div 1 level at TN United. We have feeder programs and I'm proud to say that Zach Trobaugh (one of our best alum) has trained some of our best current players at some point or another. But our current run is a mirror run of the runs we made in the '90s. We've been in the T$$AA round of eight 9 times. I'm very proud of the status of our program. This year I've not voted us higher than 8-9. I do think we can give anyone a run for their money on a given day. But that's the onus of dealing with high school boys; some days we look stellar and some days we look like I coach them. I've been a big proponent of the split of public/private. That is a complicated issue. I've talked personally with men I respect as Coach Gilman, Brett Armstrong and coach G and they know how I feel. This is the last year that we will all be together. But , I've misquoted by the the media in the last year. The Tennessean picks portions of quotes that I've given them and it makes me look like a whining tissue holding scouser. Last year I was beaten down by the media by 'crying about' being put out by privates. They put my quote 'on line' that was not put in print that "at some point we have to be mean enough and tough enough to beat them". I mean that. I do believe in my beliefs that's it an unfair playing field when you don't have a limited zone. We have White House, Millersville, and a portion of the Cottontown mailing address. That's it. But, until the split happens, we've got to get tough enough to beat one of them boys. We are 3-3 in post season vs. CPA. Beat others along the way over the years. Back to the subject- I'm proud we are mentioned in your Coach T topic. I've nothing but respect for coach G from the time in the 90's he was at CAK and we we played at Lenoir City til 2 years ago when we lost on PK in the sectionals. He and his wife were both class acts/bar none after that game! Messi's belief that the polls are biased are correct. There are about 10-12 of us that vote. Contact him if you want to get involved. It's a guess. I do appreciate Coach G for contacting many of us to get our input. On a final note: I'm not a liscened A-Z coach, but our boys are training very hard to get mean enough and tough enough.... CPA: agreed; no sectionals.
  2. Premier teams should keep their prerogative. Quads and dual tourneys are the only way we menials get mat time for our newbs. We start over every year. We put in a feeder program last year, but it'll be 5 years or more until we become competitive with those that MAY want to host a single dual. Don't get me wrong. We will travel anywhere and take a whooping from anyone to get better. It doesn't improve the program that we wrestle though when they win ??-00 and the match is over in :45 minutes. At this point, the only way WE can get better is to use other teams to get 5 matches in a day for our scrubs instead of them getting pinned in less than a minute in an individual tourney. Mat time =.....??? This is Coach Mark Lamberth from White House. I've no shame for where I'm from. We are building a program the right way. At some point we may be a program that can look down on teams that want to build through dual tourneys. Until then, we will be a team that uses dual tourneys to improve our program to make our menials better. Mat time =...,,...

  3. WHHS has made the football quarter finals. We will only have 6-7 wrestlers representing us at the MTSU Duals since the rest of our guys are on the football team. We would never damage the integrity of our program by pulling out and messing up a tournament. However, if any other team would like to replace us we would be grateful. Please contact Bryan Knepper at coach.knepper@gmail.com if you are interested. We are a smaller school and our kids enjoy supporting each other. They would like to support their football team in the quarters if possible. Thank you and we hope someone/team can help us with this. If not, see you Friday

  4. My name is Mark Lamberth and I am the new coach at White House High School. This is new to me and could use your help. I understand that I missed the scheduling meeting in the spring and need to schedule for the upcoming season. If you are looking for a 3rd team for a home match or can at least contact me to schedule, it would be greatly appreciated. You can reach me at:

    mark.lamberth@sumnerschools.org.

  5. Your info on this district has been very valuable. You have the tie breakers a little off. At the fall meeting the tie breakers were set as this:

    2 team

    1 head to head

2 Goal Differential max of 3 (scoring 10 or more per game does you no good)

3 Fewest Goals allowed in district matches

4 most shut outs in district matches

    3 team

1 record against other district opponents

    2 fewest goals allowed

3 revert back to head to head

    4 Most shut-outs

All head coaches have this updated set of Guidelines and Procedures

The tournament, unless changed at the meeting on the 27th, will be as follows:

    1's get a bye

Sat. May 5th 2v7, 3v6, 4v5 from opposite sides at higher seeds

Mon. May 7th Quarters at higher seeds

Tue. May 8th Semis at Harpeth

Thur May 10th Finals at Harpeth

Once again, your tracking of the teams in this district is to be commended. It really helps.

  6. The fact is Portland is now drawing from 2 middle schools just like Gallatin, Hendersonville,Beech, and Station Camp. Since the spilt, the combined records of the two Portland Middle schools is 24 and 18. That is a winning percentage of 57%. The only teams they play are the ones that feed GHS, BHS, HHS, SCHS, and WHHS. Not saying they are world beaters, but saying they are weak is a false statement.

  7. White House High School and Hume Fogg would like to play in Middle Tenn. on a Thursday night and then travel to Knoxville or Chattanooga to finish up a round robin on Friday and Saturday. We are looking for a couple of teams that would be interested in playing each other on the Thursday, then hosting us on Fri. and Sat (preferably at one location). If you are interested, please contact Coach Allen at 615-604-0636 or Coach Lamberth at 615-598-6006 or mlamberth@bellsouth.net. We could all get in 3 games with them counting as only two on the schedule. I know the weekend of April 13th is out; Hume Fogg will know their prom date soon. Just trying to start the initial contacts

  8. District 10 A/AA:

    5/7 First Round

    W7 Creek Wood @ W6 Sycamore 1:00

    E6 Westmoreland @ E7 East Robertson 11:00

    5/9 Second Round

    E5 Macon Co. @ W4 Montgomery Cent. 6:00

    W7/W6 @ E3 WH-Heritage 5:00

    W5 Waverly @ E4 Merrol Hyde 7:30

    E6/E7 @ W3 Harpeth 6:00

    5/10 Quarterfinals

    E5/W4 @ E1 White House 7:00

    W7/W6/E3 @ W2 Cheatham Co. 6:30

    W5/E4 @ W1 Clarksville Aca. 7:00

    E6/E7/W3 @ E2 Greenbrier 7:00

    5/12 Semifinals @ White House

    TBA 5:00

    TBA 7:00

    5/13 Finals @ White House

    TBA 7:00

  9. White House wins 4-1. They will have the #1 seed in the East. Greenbrier will be #2. They gave up some valuable points with those two recent ties. Anybody know anything about WH-Heritage??? They have 4 ties...haven't lost a Division game yet!!!

Well there is actually another scenario that could play out...although its very, very, very unlikely. If Cheatham County beats Harpeth and then beats Montgomery Central on Saturday, they also will have 5 wins and 15 points. This will effectively knock Harpeth out of the top 2 seeds.

If Harpeth and CA don't play for some reason...according to the District By-Laws both teams would be deducted one point. This would knock CA down to 14 points meaning Cheatham would actually win the Division!! Can we just pray this doesn't happen because I can't imagine the reactions.

The coaches agreed to have all District games completed this weekend, so they could have all of next week to get the tournament ready. But the regular season doesn't officially end until next weekend. There's plenty of time to get games in if Mother Nature decides she isn't a big soccer fan.

  10. Well, the boards are BORING so far, so I thought I might try to start a topic to see if we could generate any interest, since the season starts in less than 2 weeks!

How do your teams do try outs? Do you have time trials? Fitness tests? Juggling? How many days are your try outs?

    Just curious.

This is most likely our last year for doing distance for time trials. Looking at research and talking to the conditioning coaches, intervals or sprints are a much better running test for soccer.

16 110yd sprints at 16 seconds each with a 45 second rest between will weed out those who train and those who don't. Most will make 10; some 12; those who train 16

  11. At this point at White House we don't have try outs. Any one who can make it thru these 5 weeks of conditioning deserves to be on a high school team. If the numbers are too great, the running gets tougher. We may never make a state tournament again, but a certain standard of play (not skill) is what should always be represented at our school. One day we may have the skill to match with the attitude, but for now we train to make boys into men. I have seen so many average players become great young men because they trained to be the best they culd be; even if they weren't very good players, they were winners. Because of the fine job many in White House have done to build a division III travel club, we may see the need for try outs/cuts one day. For now, we take what we have and mold them into what the program expects. Those who stay will be Champions. Good luck to all this Spring.
