  1. Good hard fought game tonight. Both teams played hard and I didn't see one dirty play from either team. I take my hat off to the Mustangs. They outplayed the Lions tonight but could have really cost themselves with all the fumbles. I believe I would spend all week working on ball security. You can't fumble that many times and make it deep in the playoffs. The officiating was horrible as usual. Lots of false starts that were never called. Huntingdon kicker did it so bad on an XP try that he almost fell down and still was not called. Two pass interference calls against the Mustangs where the ball was clearly uncatchable, and the fumble down inside the 20 in the second quarter was probably the worst call I have ever seen in my 25 years of watching football (other than the play last year where Calvin Johnson caught a TD pass, got tackled, got up and put ball on the ground and was called incomplete against the Bears for not maintaing possesion through the catch) 3rd down and 9 and Warbritton was tackled for a one yard gain and in the process, fumbled. He was laying on the ground, recovered the fumble, had a Camden tackler knock the ball out of his hands after he had clearly regained possession of the ball on the ground(with ref looking right at it), and another Huntingdon player picks up the ball (While Camden players are standing around looking at the tackled player thinking the play was over) and run for 9 yards for the first down. Total BS. Should have been 4th and 8 on the Camden 18. Huntingdon then runs three plays and scores to go up 14-7. If Camden holds on 4th or Huntingdon has a missed FG instead of giving up the TD, this could be a totally different game. Camden had plenty of chances to get a better foothold of the game but couldn't get the 3rd down stop on third and long. Huntingdon has a blue coller playbook and is effective at this level. Probably need to open the offense up a little to have a chance to beat Milan this year. Milan won't stay in a 7 man front if Huntingdon is having success running 9-man left and 9-man right. They will put 9 in the box and make you beat them in the air. Don't think the Huntingdon team is a "come from behind" built offense. The onside kick return was a dagger. I thought kicking it deep and giving my defense one more chance to try to stop them with 4 minutes and three timeouts was the better call in that situation. Never the less, it was a good game. I wasn't suprised by the outcome at all. I thought the players showed class in their actions all game. I like Huntingdon's chances in 1-A and hope they bring a gold ball to West Tennessee like Union City did two years ago. Good luck to the Mustangs and Lions the rest of the year.

Great game. Hats off to Camden for making it tough when everyone else was counting them out. I thought one of the unsung hero's for Camden was Jackson Burns as he ran hard and picked up 3rd and short for 1st downs for Camden, blocked well on the sweeps and set the corner well from defensive end. All that said, Huntingdon just out muscled them for the most part. There was a couple of situations where the refs made some bad calls especially the one when Huntingdon man was down and the other mustang picked it up and made the 1st down. Terrible call. Happened right in front on me, the ball was dead as the man was down. The pass interference in the west end zone I felt was a good call because the guy jumped up to catch it and was clipped so you can't really say it was uncatchable. His hands were on the ball when he got his legs clipped out from under him. I do believe Camden got a bit of home cooking on that spot on 4th and 1. It was a good game and Warbritten is everything I have heard he was and they have a great lot of other hosses too. Those backs had better watch the hurdles or they will be watching the rest of the season from the side lines though.

I am so sick of this 4 year, we the greatest dynasty of all times, from Perry county and I hope you will shut them up. They have been decent for 4 years and you would think they are Alcoa, Maryville, or Milan.

  2. Bruceton has improved quite a bit but not enough. The Lions by 3 tds!

I think Bruceton will hang in for a half but end up loosing. They are much improved but it will be a couple of more years before they can hang with Camden for an entire game. By then they will be a powerhouse in single A again. Coach Williams has them going in the right direction! Prove me wrong tigers.

  3. 1. Dresden

    2. McKenzie

    3. Gleason

    4. Huntingdon

    5. Bruceton

    6. West Carroll

I might see some diffrences of opionions from 3-6, but I gotta still see McKenzie 1 and Huntingdon 2. Dresden may slip in there at 2 but those three just have bigger schools and more athletes and it is hard for those other three to compete week in and week out. Other three are really 1A and those top ones 2A schools in the traditional way we used to do it.

  4. Don't know if I want the kids that don't want to work. Seem like those would be the cancers on the team???

A lot of em will do that though. I have seen that happen in the past at Bruceton who you will be hosting week 0. I can't believe it is going to be on August 19th. It gets earlier every year. They gonna have scrimmages first week in August now. What's next July football?

  5. I see it as:

    1. McKenzie

    2. Huntingdon

    3. Bruceton

    4. Dresden

    5. West Carroll

    6. Gleason

McKenzie still top team in the region but Huntingdon will probably be much improved. Bruceton found their feet toward the end of the season and has a lot of experience returning after eliminating Union City in round 1 last fall. I do not know what to make of the rest of the region. Should be interesting.

  6. Quitters

Lake County is always fast. Take it from someone who knows. We played them every year I was in high school and lost to them every year. 1 bowl game, 3 time in playoffs. They won 1 or 2 state championships and were put out the other times by ECS who won it and bare in mind that it was just 3 classes then and all the privates were hungry for and playing for the title.

I don't think that PC will be able to defend the perimeter against them and doubt Lake Co. can stop them. It looks to be a total shootout. I will not be surprised to see 50 to 60 pts by each team. Perry can score but so can LC. Should be a barn burner. LC put up 60 on UC and 50 on Huntingdon.

  7. Spoken like a true champ! :thumb::roflol:

Wooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh hoss. Milan ain't there yet. Alcoa may be a lock but Milan sure ain't. Camden Goodpasture and Pearl Cohn standing in way. What about CAK? Are they an automatic win?

  8. No. From all my sources within the school system they will never be back to AA numbers. According to a couple of our admin. our numbers are at an all time low and dropping.

I don't doubt it as most of the industry in Carroll county has taken a hit, many have chose to move to Jackson or somewhere to find work. Bruceton's numbers have been on the decline the last few years also.

  9. you do have a point there but another thing you have to think about is that those teams we did play that scored alot on us our offense stayed together and managed to pull out the win PC can keep its composure and still get the win under pressure thats one thing u gotta consider

Yeah that is the mark of a good team. I heard the PC WC game was a barn burner. Bruceton typically does not score a huge amount of points this year. They don't need to get into a shoot out with PC if they hope to win.

  10. Well yall barely squeeked by us. What does that say for UC......"oh but wait, we are just young, wait till next year, takes ur shots now." Ahh blow it out ur arse.

I think Huntingdon is much improved.

I know what their records are but, I just don't see LC beating Huntingdon.

    Huntingdon 35 Lake Co. 21

Heck, I know when it gets right down to it, I'll probably be pulling for Lake Co. but I don't think it will happen.

  11. I've read this thread and listen to all BS I can stand on how the almighty PC is going to take the Tigers to the woodshed this week. The Tigers may get 100 put on them but they will claw and fight to the final whistle. This group of young men have gone from a 0-20 record the last two years and finally get some momentum to go 5-5 and make the playoffs. No one gave them any credit but they went and won against the defending state champions last week. They might not win then again they just might fool some folks. One thing for sure, they are winners in this neck of the woods just for making the accomplishments of a winning season.

You want to pick on their schedule, well I'm pretty sure the Rebels have a couple open dates next year. Give Comer a call and jump on in. If you want to play with the big dogs, then come on in the pen :thumb: .

    Good Post McDad!

I am sure PC has a good football team and will probably win, you don't go 9-1 and not have a good team, but I thought the same thing last week at UC. We did lose to 5 tough opponents, 3 of them 2A district teams that are still in the playoffs, one of them a 1A team that has been a 2A powerhouse for years, and Camden a good 3A team that very well make it to the semifinals again this year. That is all I was saying in my post. You have to look at Quality wins, but Quality losses as well. I guess that boils down to strength of schedule.

Bruceton is not what they once were, but they are on the right track.

  12. Not being cocky, but your missing the point, just get the fact that it does not matter what has happened in the past or who all we have played if PC played that same schedule I can guarantee you they would not be 5-5 or whatever they may not be 9-1 but they wouldn be 5-5, and the fact of the whole matter is PC will win by at least 3tds friday night so i dont know what we are arguing for! If Bruceton had of played in Region 6a they still would not be any better than 5-5 because CWood, PC, WC, Columbia Academy and Mt. Pleasant would have beat them so stop whining until friday when you have a reason to whine!!

Apples and Oranges.... same debate going on in college football but at least we got a playoff so it's not just voted on. We'll see Friday night.

Fellow I know saw WC and PC this year and he said they both had good football teams so maybe we can hang in there on Friday night.

  13. Ok monster ok yall played 5 tuff teams and we played 5 tuff teams were all good and even, except we went 4-1 against those really good teams and yall got physically and emotionally abused in all 5 of those games.

No, your still missing the point. If you had played those 5 teams you would have the same record we have. You played 5 good teams out of your region, not out of ours. We have been beating that region almost everytime we play them for years and you still think your the SEC. Someone on here said that this region was the SEC of 1A.... news flash .... you ain't the SEC.

If we got so abused we must be mighty tough cause we bounced back and still in it. See you Friday night.

  14. brucetons out matched and out played...PC is on the verge of doin somethin this school hasnt done before...(besides in basketball where were tired for the most in state titles in the state...jus sayin)...they never had a winning record until last yr the yr before that they were 7-3 and 3 yrs ago well we were 0-10!!! but now look at us...9-1...lone loss to a road game down the road to Parsons Riverside...but Bruceton didnt play any great teams like PC did(MT.PLEASANT, RIVERSIDE, COLLINWOOD, CA, & WAYNE CO.) i mean yes the playoffs are diffrent than the season but im jus pointin out the fact that PC has a better team (descently coached) and plays hard everytime theres a big game...besides as long as (the guy that wont be named) comes and peps up the crowd and the team well look for a long day for bruceton.. :hungry:

    PC-56

    Bruceton-12

Are you kidding? We played Camden, McKenzie, TCA, Dresden and Huntingdon! I stack them up against that bunch you just rattled off any day. You may beat Bruceton Friday night...but you have not played a tougher schedule.

All are still playing mostly in 2A and 3A ball.

  15. monster man, nothing wrong with being excited with 5-5 and playoffs after the tough couple of years at Bruceton. Things look to be heading in the right direction. Lake Co. went through similar times in early 2000s. Keep playing hard and who knows what can happen in the playoffs!!

Huge win for the Tigers. It may not have been pretty... but they made the plays when they had to. Good enough to make a 2nd round for the first time since 07.I am excited for them. PC next Friday night.

  16. Everybody in this bracket should feel like they have a great chance to advance or as good a chance as any of the teams..Most seem to think Perry Co is the favorite. And they may be..But all the teams can take solace in a lot of games that these teams have played indirectly..For instance..Perry Co lost to Decatur Co 21-6..Decatur Co was beaten by Dresden 20-14..Lake Co can lok at that because they didn't just play 1 team that Dresden played but 4 teams that Dresden played.Dresden beat Grenfield 34-7..Lake Co had Greenfield 40-0 at the half..Dresden beat Trenton 13-7..Lake Co beat Trenton 35-31...Dresden beat Halls 40-13..Lake Co won beat Halls 42-7..Dresden beat Gibson co 26-6 while Lake Co beat Gibson Co 20-14..Dresden also beat Bruceton 40-6 but lost to Huntingdon 28-22..So that should make some Lake Co and Huntingdon fans happy ....South Fulton beat Lake Co so those Red Devil fans should be happy...,Huntington lost to Union City which should make the Union City fans happy. Union City lost to Lake co 60-40 which again..should make the Lake Co fans happy..Bruceton fans are saying that they only lost to 1 Single A team which is making them happy..But they havent played any of the same teams and were beaten pretty bad by all those teams.I really couldn't find much that would make them very happy..Anyway..Doesnt mean a lot..brand new season..Just that by looking at all the break downs of the games..we all seem have a good chance.!So..what does my post really mean? Nothing at all..just that I like to ramble and twist and ramblesome more and hopefully getting people or myself to believe that we have a chance.!Or either I shold be an author as much as I write ,or a quacko.!

If you had been watching Bruceton the last couple of years, you would understand why we are very happy to make the playoffs again. At one point this season they were riding a 23 game losing streak. A very few years ago if we did not win 7 games and go to the quarter finals the fans were disappointed.

Most teams in quad 4 would have taken a whipping from Camden (1 seed 3a), McKenzie(1 seed 2a), TCA(2 seed 2a) and Dresden (3 seed 2A). They are all playoff teams. Huntingdon at 4-6 is not a bad team either and that was close game at half. They romped us pretty good late in the game but it was not a blowout from start to finish. I think we even may have been leading at half. Huntingdon is not what they have been in the last few years, but not a cupcake. They were the last team to beat Alcoa for a 2A championship, I beleive and that was only a very few years ago.

I am not delusional concerning where we are as a football program. HBR has a long way to go to be the team they were in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's but they made some strides this year. That is what we are happy about. Not that we lost to those teams, but that we did compete with those we should compete with and I think we will be competitive with those others in time.

All that said, it will be hard for us to compete with Union City tonight. I think this bunch will come out an give a good account of themselves and if they get a few breaks who knows.

We have some injuries that have really hurt us all year, but they have stuck it out and won some games when their back was too the wall and that is why we have a lot of optimism for the coaches, players and program.

  17. If you guys have never seen a game at Union City here is a link that has some pics of the facilities...Some of the best in the state...

    http://www.ucturf.com/war.html

As far as eating places go you have Applebees, Joe's Steakhouse, Sassafraz, Ryan's, Legacy, Lepanto, Olympia, Catfish Galley, Buckets, Los Portales....Then you have all the fast food places..McDonald's, Arby's, Burger King, Hardees, Sonic, KFC, Long John Silvers, Captain Ds, Wendy's

Back in the 80's when I was playing ball, we were in awe of their facilities, especially the locker rooms and filed house. They had an array of whirlpools and training apparatus we had never seen and I have heard that it has just got better with time.

Henry county also has a major filed house and stadium with a jumbotron. Guys from one of the Jackson schools came back raving over their facilities just this year.

  18. Just looking at the brackets I think McKenzie has a very good shot at another silver ball and the opportunity for a gold. They will likely face Humbolt or TCA in semis if they get through M.P., Riverside and most likely it will be Trousdale in the championship. They should be very familiar with everyone on this side outside M.P. and they have played them before as well. Really got lucky that only way to hit T.C. is in championship game. They are the cream of the crop again from what I hear. They have beaten a lot of good teams this year including Mayfield, Ky who is always very good. I am really pulling for McKenzie to get the gold ball. If they can get one, 3 out of 4 football playing schools in Carroll County will have a state championship. Pretty good accomplishment.

  19. Hey Bruceton fans i would like to hear a lil bout your team. What type offense do yall run? Who are your work horses? How many points do yall average per game? Come On brag on your boys a lil bit. We run the Midline Veer offense. We have a very capable QB who lead us to a State Championship last year and does an excellent job of distributing the rock. Our Fullback,Hyde is a 1000 yrd rusher and has break away speed but loves to grind it out. At slot we have 2 jack rabbit quick kids who dont do much grinding but can fly around the coners. defense is a problem though. Our strong point is the middle.Run It in there and you wont make much money. We are a lil weak on the edges. DB's showed improvement last week with a couple of picks I think. Either way it really depends on which team shows up. We are great when we are on our game but...when we are not focused i would say anyone could beat us. Tell me bout your guys.

Same power team as we have always been for the most part. We know about the veer, we were in your region up until they changed it and I know that it came in with the new coaches. I had a chance to watch them practice a couple of years ago after the new guys came in and saw they were going to be tough running that veer They have always been tough. We used to always scrimmage UC to see where we were in 1A. If we could hang with them, a good 2A team then, we knew we would be ok in 1A.

We have a pretty good team when we are healthy and they have made some great gains this year under coach Jamie Williams who was on our Championship Team and Runner Up team several years ago. I honestly believe that we will get back to our old winning ways under these guys direction in the next few years as I have seen a much more positive attitude from the team, fans, cheerleaders, and the community than I have seen in several years. We see graffiti around town supporting the team to an extent that has not been seen in a few years. If they come out and bring their A game, which I hope they do. I think they may make it interesting. We do not have a super star running back as we have had in the past but a good solid little team that when they really play to their capabilities can hang in there with anyone. Our loses have all been to 2A and 3A teams outside Huntindgon who is still a 2A team for all practical purposes IMO even if they are a bit down this year. As for bragging, I don't think at 5-5 either team is at a place to be bragging about anything, it usually leads to eating crow, so no thanks.
