  1. I went to the Mount Juliet game and one thing became apparently clear. This offensive system sucks. The only reason they gained yards was due to the quarterback running for his life and making plays. The players on the team are not the problem and the parents are not either. The offensive playcalling was awful to say the least. Running the ball on 3rd and 10? Are you not trying to win the game? Wilson Central clearly had a lot of talent, but the coaching once again was subpar and left them hanging. The only reason they even got three points was due to a Mount Juliet Special Teams error. So with wilson central only scoring a fourth of the points that they have given up, it is clear that there are problems on both sides of the ball. And don't reply saying that the parents were complaining, because to be quite honest. Parents will complain when the team is doing good or bad, stop making excuses.

I have sit back and read all this stuff and now I have some questions for you:

How many games have you seen in the last 3 years? When they were 8-2 with the same coaches except Wes Elrod, nobody was in the stands trashing the team. Before you start, everybody agrees that coach Elrod was a genius.

What would you have done on 3rd and 10? Pass is just what MJ thought too. I'm not in any way defending the play calling, but its alot easier to make these calls from your seat and mine.

And what kind of special teams mistake caused a 51 yard field goal. Give Jackson his due and not try to take a school record to the gutter along with everything else.

Are you ready to fire ALL the coaches or have you just targeted Aric?

If the job becomes available maybe YOU could apply and WC could get back on top.

  2. Sounds like the defense took another step forward. So they scrimmage Friday and Saturday and then it's game week.

times and locations of Fri and Sat scrimmages? Thanks!

Riverdale is scheduled to play Mt. Juliet in the Wilson Central Jamboree on Sat. night. I think its supposed to be around 6pm.

  3. How about in '86 when MJ played at Gallatin. With only a few seconds left Gallatin gave up the safety, then MJ kicked a 52 yard FG to win the game.

Seems like I remember a 2-0 final in the early 80s. MJ tried to run an option out of their endzone and fumbled and Gallatin got the safety. 81 maybe?

  4. Gallatin vs. Mt Juliet. Glad to have the game mean something to both teams again. Mt. J will carry a student body with almost 400 more students and they were a 4-A team last year. Both teams return tons of talent this year shouldn't be anything but a great game and a packed house. In the 80's this game would pack 9000 on a Friday night. The parks dept would have to bring bleachers over from the baseball fields and put in the endzones.

You are correct. The MJ - Gallatin games of the late 70s and early 80s were the biggest. I played for MJ and we couldn't seem to beat you back then. In 79 we had ya'll 21 - 0 at the half and gallatin came back and beat us 24 - 21 in overtime.

Back then only the top team went to the playoffs and Gallatin knocked us out every year. Those were the days !

  5. Not only are they asking the student athletes to stay until 6 or 7 pm, but the coaches will be there everyday until 8 or 9. Then had the nerve to ask them to give up a great part of their pay this year. Its no wonder that every time there is a job opening, all coaches in good ole Wilson county tries to bail out. The surrounding counties have the better facilities, better support of their programs, and better pay. Why would they want to stay ?

  6. Did I ever say we blew out WC? Not at all, and never predicted a blowout either. Yeah if, if, if. There is no way of telling how the game could have gone had those calls been made, Oakland could have very well gone on to win those games regardless, you dont know that, and neither do I. I have never bragged about anything other than the heart and determination our kids show every friday night. I dare you to find multiple posts that have me bragging all over the place about how great Oakland is, the only instance in which I let my excitement get the best of me is in the Smyrna-WC game in which I was being hypothetical. Its never been a slam dunk against any opponent for Oakland all season and for that reason, is why I compare them alot to the 2002 Ohio St team, just in the way they win games thru defense and just absolute grit.

I'm done with this, Oakland has a great program and a VERY classy supporter in 2P.

Good luck this week, Go region 4 !!!!!!!

  7. I would like to know where those are, outside of games that have direct relevance to Oakland. I have never showed ill will to an opponent and have been pretty respectful in all instances, I am sure it just burns you up to a see a lowly program like Oakland rise back to power in just 1 short season. There is no luck about it when you line in jumbo package the whole quarter and run it right down WC's throat! We have made our own luck by working hard and being physical.

We've had shady calls go against us as well, but guess what? The boys refused to make that an issue and played through it and have been victorious for the most part.

You might have ran the ball in the 4th quarter ( yea for you, you dress 100 kids ) but you didn't blow us out and IF you take the "illegal man down field " out the score is 17 to 16.

And don't even try to talk about a lowly Oakland rise back, WE were the 0-24 program and so we are not rising BACK from anything.

All I'm saying is that a couple of calls and you are a 3 loss team too and could come back into reality with the rest of us.

And I NEVER said you showed ill will towards opponents, I said you always find a way to bring up just how GREAT Oakland is.

  8. Oakland[/url]Patriots' date='Nov 7 2008 - 12:07 AM' post='826939052']

I would like to know how in hades Oakland won by luck when they lined up in the jumbo set the whole 4th quarter and ran the ball right down your throats and made ya love it! Smyrna pretty much did the same thing

I would like to know how in hades you get called for illegal man down field from the 4 Yard line that cost WC a touchdown? Not to mention a "chop block" while on defense that came after we stuffed you! and then Oakland gets a 1st down.

Oh by the way you can go to the WC football web site and see the high light film and see the "illegal man down field"

And I did see the picture on the Blackman web site on the phantom touchdown........

I'm not trying to take anything away from Oakland, but give it a rest, ya'll have been lucky and you know it.

Every thread you post on, no matter which one, always turns into a how great Oakland is thread.

  9. Note........no Siegel fans on here congratulating OHS?? Big surprise. This is why they don't get respect themselves.

If the two names that I heard prior to the game last night were correct.......the Siegel players who caused the ruckus against Blackman fans last week didn't sit out. But of course that sure didn't surprise me in the least. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but my source of who did it came straight from Blackman country ringside.

Siegel fans might not 2P but congratulations from the Glade and WC Wildcats to the new and deserving region Champs !!!!!

  10. Keep fighting Warriors and congrats to WC. They have a sound team and a phenomenal coaching staff.

Go ROTTTTTTERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I don't like about WC is that annoying Growl ....I hate hate hate that yowwwwwwwwwwwwwwl.

For the most part, we don't like the growl either. But it does mean we did something right.

    Great game Cats !!!!!!

  11. Neither Wing-T will win!

I got to break it to you LOD............neither Riverdale nor Wilson Central run the Wing-T. I finally got to see WC play and they spend more time in the Gun than they do under center. What I saw them run.............. ain't the Wing-T; do not know what you would call it, but it is not the Wing-T. I would have to call Riverdale an option team. Should be a good game.

    Who has the best defense? /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

go to www.jetsweep.com and you might get a better understanding of what WC runs. oh, that would be Wes Elrods JetSweep.com

  12. I know Siegel is 3-1 and all, but look at their opponents in the past weeks. Sure they beat Riverdale, but this obviously wasn't hte riverdale of the past. Give me your comments, I wanna know what you think, because I can be kind of biased toward Oakland.

We have lost to both these teams, but in my opinion Oakland is better. This is not to take anything away from siegel because they are having a wonderful season and deserve to. They have struggled for a while now, but things are changing. ( I was with WC during our 0 - 24 run so I know about struggles) I just think Oakland has a better line and more depth. WC had problems stopping Oakland in the 4TH quarter last week because Oakland s line were fresh.

siegel has some playmakers but as a whole Oakland has the complete package.

Staley Haynes and Marc Gooch are the real deal so don't count them out.

  13. I don't think a lot of the younger generation realizes that this game was a HUGE game for both sides. When the rivalry was dropped a few years back, a lot of the hype between these schools ended. I think that the win last year by the Bears plus Perry being a former Sumner County coach has brought some meaning to the game again. Hendersonville has long been Gallatin's chief rival but Mt Juliet was only a smidgen behind them. Like you said there were some classic games. All hard fought and most had some wierd twist to them. I think my favorite was the game in Gallatin in the mid-80's when the fog rolled in. It was one of those really crazy scenes from the movies with just a wall engulfing the stadium. You couldn't see the players or what was going on. The last second field goal back in 86' was also a good/bad one. With only seconds left Mt Juliet hit a field goal that was setup by Gallatin taking a safety. I remember people just sitting in the stands in disbelief. No one thought the Bear player would hit a 45 yarder...but he did winning the game 8-7. Lots of great games by these two teams. I can't wait for it to be a region game again.

I was a part of the overtime game in "77". It was after we had a 21-0 lead at the half. That particular year that we went deep into the season and didn't score in the 2nd half. On most teams we scored enough in the 1st half to win, but not against Gallatin. Back in those days only the top team of each region, or district as is was called back then, went to the playoffs. Gallatin knocked us out every single year. My senior year,"80",we went 10-1 and the lone loss was to Gallatin and so we went to the Mid-State Bowl and beat McCallie. Those were the days!!!

  14. Week 3 Games

    BLK @ Brentwood

    SMY @ Brentwood Academy

    LEB @ Cookeville

    Antioch @ LAV

    RIV @ Lincoln County

    Franklin County @ OAK

    Centenial @ SIE

Open @ WC (you can pick WC if you have not used them already)

Keeping this thing alive in case MOJO11 is taking a siesta.

I pick Brentwood Academy for week 3

  15. In reality, the new director of schools is a large part of the problem. The new Mt. Juliet High is built off of a side country road. Wilson Central was (and is) built in the sticks. But when it came time to build at new Lebanon High, he didn't want to choose a cost effective piece of property - he literally said "we need to make a statement" with the new Lebanon High. So they purchased a piece of prime location real estate that was millions more than the other options. And now, he wants to spend a million more for a new school design when WC and MJ plans are fully available. Idiot!

All the while, not only are kids going without sports potentially. Kids are going without books and workbooks. I know as I bought my child's entire class their workbooks.

I have heard that the new MJ high school was over a million dollars over budget. That is not saying anything negitive about MJ, they have a "show place" over on Curd Rd. I can imagine what the new Lebanon will look like, with the million dollar plans and all.

I'll vote for a property tax hike, but everybody knows the money won't go into the school system.

  16. Were you at the same game. MJ should have beatin WC. You got lucky. I must admit, WC started strong, but only because of MJ mistakes. You guyz do have talent and size to go with a good team, but yall play dirty and no one respects that. The cheap shots are uncalled for. Siegel and the rest of Region 4, take note, they are cheap shot artist. I have no respect for yall and wish you guyz loose every game.

We can't lose every game, we already beat you ! Get over it.

  17. I honestly cannot call this one this year.

WC is young and rebuilding but they have more depth. WC has beaten a VERY good MJ team.

Siegel is just surprising me more and more every week. Especially the Smyrna game!

    Y'all just beat up each other real good before R'dale has to play either of you! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

LOD, MJ beat a VERY good MJ team. I'm a Wildcat fan till the end, but we were VERY VERY lucky to have come out on top Fri. night. IF the Cats can play as a team, they could be hard to handle. This week will be very exciting.
