  1. With 24 teams in it that would take a real long time. Email me at wburke1230@yahoo.com and I'll attach the excel file for you.
  2. http://www.khsaa.org/volleyball/cpoll.pdf This is a preseason poll before teams had started playing yet. It will be updated as the season goes on. Lafayette has already beaten #11 Apollo and #16 Henry Clay.
  3. Only one state champion in KY. No seperate classifications here. Assumption ALWAYS wins with the exception of the one blip in 2003 to Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart was just VERY good that year. KY post season playoffs are single elimination. The real shame of the KY playoff system is the fact that a team like Assumption did NOT even make the 16 team state tournament that year. SH and Assumption are in the same 5 team district(top two advance to regions) and region and only the regional champ advances to the state tournament. Basically that means the state champion is decided in that Regional championship game every year. SH could be the second best team in KY and even the second best team in the entire country but can only make it to state if they beat Assumption. That complete stinks when we will have at least 8 teams from the EXTREMELY weak Eastern Ky and Western Ky regions in the field. Right now all 4 teams in Lafayettes district are ranked in the state top 25 out of 240 teams. Only two will even be able to advance to regionals while...again the sucky districts and regions move on. If there is a worse playoff system in the country I'd be surprised.
  4. Yes. Lafayette went 5-0 and did win the tournament over a very talented Boone county team. Boone is always a very solid NKY team. It was a great way to start the season! Had we been able to get that Ryle win last night it would have easily been the biggest win in school history. Losing stinks, but at least our girls no they have the talent to compete at that high level. Ryle didn't play any subs or do anything different in Lafayette's game two win. They just got beat. Unfortunately they stepped it up in game three to win the match.
  5. Should be an interesting match. We have nobody to match that kind of size, but our speed and ball control "hopefully" can compensate for it. The Lafayette girls had a tough match tonight against the top ranked public school in KY, Ryle High School. Ryle is ranked #7 just behind the big 6 catholic schools but our girls gave them a tough match losing in three 12-25, 25-21, 19-25. Ryle is probably at or very near the level of Brentwood. Not many teams take games from Ryle so winning one was a nice accomplishment. Winning the match would have been much better though.
  6. I think Dupont Manual did fairly well last year in this tournament, but I dont look for them to do all that well this year. I believe they even beat your Brentwood team, but that wont happen this year. They lost three senior Div 1 players to graduation and should not be near as strong this year. Sacred Heart is down a little too, but they are still probably good enough to do fairly well there. Even a down Sacred Heart team is still a very good team.
  7. It was at the KBA in Lexington. Boyle county was there. Unfortunately they did not have a very good showing. I'm fairly certain they finished somewhere around the bottom 2-3 teams in the tournament.
  8. Cant believe nobody will pick their choice for top 4. I'm not getting any scouting information out of this thread! Lafayette started the official season this weekend in the Bluegrass Invt. We're off to a 5-0 start and won the championship. We knocked the #11(Apollo) and #16(Henry Clay) ranked teams in KY along the way. The preseason coaches poll has Lafayette ranked #23 so both of those wins were very good ones for us. Actually the unranked team from Northern KY(Boone Co) we beat in the championship game was better than both of those ranked teams though and were coming off a big tournament championship the previous weekend. Today was a VERY good day! Hopefully our girls will make a good showing in the Classic next weekend.
  9. I regret to inform you that Anderson County is in direct violation of Article 7, subsection 2, paragraph 24 of the TSSAA rulebook that states that: "any and all teams involved in a multiple team format shall play the same designated number of games, whether it be 2 of 3 or 3 of 5 format. Any teams found to be in violation of said rule shall forfiet all matches in that event. This shall be done, as we here at the TSSAA like making silly rules. Silly rules are fun. "
  10. So it's safe to say Lafayette is in a tough initial pool that includes Independence and Lebanon? Our girls beat Lebanon last year in two, but I do recall them having two large MB's. Hopefully those girls didn't work too hard in the off season or they could be tough. So where are the predictions?
  11. Spring Hill Briarcrest Smyrna Page Ravenwood David Lipscomb Independence Lafayette, KY BGA Karns Lebanon Columbia Central Culleoka Nashville Christian Hillsboro Centennial Assuming these are still the teams in this tournament, I'm curious as to who people here would pick as their top 4 and why. Have a little fun and see who gets closest. I'll start, but I'm leaving off Lafayette simply because I know so little about TN teams. Plus I dont want to jinx their chances. 1. Independence 2. Centennial 3. BGA 4. Page Am I even close to how people here would rate these teams?
  12. "Hopefully" the girls will be playing at a higher level than last year. In theory they "should" be much better considering only one key player was lost to graduation and the rest are all coming off very LONG solid club seasons in Lexington and Louisville. We will see next Friday I guess.
  13. Hopefully that's NOT the case! Last year's tournament was GREAT because it was a big round robin and Lafayette got in 7 matches without even making it to the finals. Four team pools and then a tournament would yeild a max of 6 matches assuming a team even makes the finals. Most would probably only get 5 matches. I'd definately recomend not coming back next year under that format. Just way to big a drive for only a 5 match guarantee. The way it was set up last year is why Lafayette was so excited to return. We cant find a tournament like the Page Classic in KY as most are 5 match minimum guarantees. Could somebody find out how it will be done this year and post it. Hopefully it will be done the say way as last year.
  14. The tournament field doesn't "appear" to be as strong this year. Last year's had Franklin and East Ridge. I'm sure BGA and Briarcrest are very good teams, but I dont recall them being talked about as powerhouses like Franklin and ER.
  15. Last year Mercy and Presentation were in the Brentwood Invt. Presentation beat Mercy there and won the tournament I believe. Those top 7 catholic teams are ALWAYS the top 7 teams in KY. Everybody else is hoping for that 8th spot as top public school. Assumption, Sacred Heart, Mercy, Presentation and Holy Cross are out of Louisville. Notre Dame and St Henry are in Northern Ky accross the river from Cincy. The reason they are so tough is because the girls in the catholic school system start volleyball early in grade school. Almost EVERY player on these teams plays club ball starting at 12's or 13's. The Louisville girls at KIVA and MAVA and the NKY girls at NKYVC and NKJV. KIVA is the best of the clubs. This is the club run by Assumptions coach. Could very well be THE best club in the nation as they won more medals than any other club at JO nationals this year. They even have a girl from the 17 Red team currently playing for the 18's USA junior national team in China right now. KIVA's 17 Red team won nationals this year and almost all play for Assumption. Assumption will most likely be ranked as the top team in the nation this year. They are absolutely unbelievable! My daughter played setter for the KIVA 17 black team so I got to watch these amazing players all club season. Check out the website below to see updates on the USA junior national team and some great articles on the KIVA girls. Check out the number of tournaments they play in too and it will be clear as to why they are so good. My daughter played in 16 tournaments and 102 matches over they past 6 months. That's a lot of volleyball!! http://www.k-i-v-a.com/
  16. Completely off topic, but I'm pumped with how our girls played today in the Bluegrass State Games varsity division. This tournament isn't an official tournament or part of the varsity season. It's basically a free tournament! They went 5-1 and won the silver medal and finished second place out of 20 teams. They ended up losing to Ryle High School which finished last season ranked as the top public school at #8 in the state. Nobody else challenged us all day, but in the end Ryle was just too strong. Lafayette played them a good match though. Just a great day of volleyball! Last seasons final poll in case you TN folks are wondering who the powerhouse teams are in KY. http://www.khsaa.org/volleyball/cpoll.pdf
  17. Not to me it doesn't. Not much chance of Lafayette facing them again later in the year in the KY/TN playoffs. All I care about is whether they will be good if we play them at the Classic.
  18. Anybody know who is in this tournament yet? Will Page and Centennial be as good as last year after Page losing their big MB and Centennial their setter?
  19. According to my schedule Lafayette is returning to the Page Classic this year. That was probably my favorite tournament last year and I'm looking forward to returning. Lafayette "should" have a solid team this year. The varsity will most likely be made up of 6 seniors and 2 juniors and a couple soph's. All but one are multiple year club players. Four played at KIVA and MAVA in Louisville and the rest at BAVA here in Lexington. All are coming off very successful club seasons and the Louisville girls wont finish up until July as they are competing at the Orlando AAU Nationals and the Junior Olympics this month. I look forward to seeing all those I met last year again and am curious as to how the girls measure up this year compared to last. Anybody have any idea as to who else will be there this year? Will Page be the same without coach Berry.
