1. QUOTE(riverdaleman @ Apr 3 2007 - 11:02 PM) 826429463This year he shook hands i think he might have been refferring to last year kinda like you was on that Riverdale fan who was upset because of our coach being WRONGFULLY ejected...but that is another story gone...

You are right you would think that 5 errors and it would be a close game or a loss and that is WAY out of the ordinary for us we have been playing REALLY good defense this year in fact i think this is one of the best OVERALL defenses we have had in a long time so to see 5 errors was like WOW...kinda proved my point earlier though how quick you can get 6 runs...

As far as the kid at second base...i did not see a tag but i saw the ball beat him by a mile and i saw an umpire right there looking at it in perfect postion and i saw our player apply the tag if he somehow got around it then that was a great play by that kid but it still doesnt excuse what he did...he very easly could have been ejected for that...but whe you are down by 6 why are you running anyway?

Lebanon is a good ball club and we have to play good to beat them and we will have to play better tomorrow night to beat them again your pitchers did a good job tonight the shortstop that came in to pitch did a real good job so things are looking up for yall good luck to you

    GO WARRIORS

The ball beat him by a mile? I think that is quite a stretch. Why do you run when down by 6? Adrenaline's flowing, you are one base closer to home, takes the force out and he made it in safe, just didn't get the call. However, that call did not beat us. Again I say, the bats were not there tonight, hopefully they will return tomorrow. Great plays by 1st, short, and 3rd and those plays were typical of what these boys can do and short and 3rd are Sophomores. I have been around this program for the past 5 years and I will say compared to years past, this team is special. They may not be the best but again I say, they are very very young and improving daily. They will only graduate 2 this year...the starting pitcher and the 2nd baseman. I think in the future they will be a force to be reckoned with. Good luck tomorrow to both Lebanon and Riverdale...should be an exciting game.

  2. QUOTE(CRACKER @ Apr 3 2007 - 09:59 PM) 826429395Can anyone say sour grapes!!!!!! Coach Sloan is a whiner. He complains all night about the strike zone from the 3rd base coaches box. He complains from the dugout. He refuses to shake hands after the game as he more whining to do with the umpires. I don't want to hear about Riverdales lack of class when coach Sloan takes the cake.

As far as bunting to score a run to try to put some assurance runs on the board, I believe he was trying to win not show anybody up.

Respect for the game!!!!!! you call Sloans behaviour respectful. How about the young man showing his behind when he was called out trying to stretch a single into a double when you are trailing by 6 runs. He should have been tossed. His only excuse is that he is behaving like his coach.

    5

I'm not sure where you were, I was there and witnessed Coach Slone shake hands. It's a good thing Riverdale is a great hitting ball club, and I will give them that, because their defense was very questionable. You would think with 5 errors it would have been a closer ballgame or a loss for Riverdale. Lebanon does have a good hitting team this year, however they were off tonight. As far as the young man showing his behind, he was never tagged with the ball, therefore the correct call would have been "safe", I understand why he was a little upset. I will tell you this, if he acted out of line, he will be reprimanded. Assurance runs when you're up by 6? Give me a break. And, by the way, no one associated with Lebanon (coaches or fans) had the classless behavior that the Riverdale fan had last year at Veterans. To the very young Lebanon ball club, keep your heads up, come out fighting tomorrow...this Riverdale team is very beatable. Even by a primary lineup of Sophomores!

  3. Is Warren County only having one returning starter? Is Lebanon only returning 3-3 starters? That's losing alot of people. I know Siegel is losing 4 starters and a DH. Oakland is only losing one starter. Riverdale is losing their pitching and 3-4 starters. Don't know about the other three teams?

    Defensively Lebanon is returning:

1B/Jr. Chase Blalock (out w/ankle injury most of this season)

3B/SS Fresh Chase Hudson (had a few starts on 3b this season)

C/Fresh Dexter Cross (had several starts this season)

    3B/SS/P/2B/C Sophomore Garrett Fancier

    Outfielders:

    Jr. Bradley Whited

    Fresh Brent Morris

    Fresh Gabe Thompson

    Pitchers:

    Christian Jennings Jr.

    Bradley Whited JR.

    Cody Farrell Soph

    Garrett Fancier Soph

    Brent Morris Fresh

    Pretty good returning group.

To the Seniors of LHS 2006...what a pleasure it has been to watch you young men play ball since most of you were 10-11 years old. I will miss each and every one of you. I wish you all great success in your future endeavers.

  4. With all the talk about pitching performances, don't forget Lebanon's sophomore Fanchier who held Warren Co to 1 run before running out of gas in the 5th. He doesn't throw as hard as Killian, but Lebanon has 6 pitchers of almost equal talent.

Lebanon's Cody Ferrell finished the game with 3 doubles, 2 of those off Killian. This kid is a sophomore. I don't think Killian had an off night, Lebanon prepared to hit against him and they executed. Good luck to all teams throughout the rest of the tournament.

  5. Off the subject of baseball for a minute, and 2priceless I know how much you enjoy these guys so I know this will be of interest to you...Clyde Harville, one of the "Voices of Lebanon" football and basketball broadcast via 98.9FM passed away suddenly on Tuesday of this week after undergoing double knee replacement surgery on Monday. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family as Clyde will be sorely missed by the Lebanon community.

  6. So let me see if I got this right???? Every team gets frustrated b/c they can't beat Riverdale. So they resort to mouthing RHS b/c they can't beat them. OK I understand. You guys are "The Real Deal". I see. It is a shame that teams have to stoop that low and resort to bashing RHS. So RHS is always being victimized b/c everyone hates them b/c they are the best. Is that it? I see. RHS has been winning since '96. I know that for a fact! And I understand that last night a lowly ss said something degrading to Coach Power's son in regards to his ability. Correct? Powers never dropped a shoulder and said anything to this beneath him ss who said degrading things to him. This is what I get so far from all of this. After bashing lil Powers I can see why when that kid led off the very next inning after the victimization of Powers two balls sailed behind him. He should have watched his mouth. Everyone knows that no one is allowed to trash talk another player in baseball especially where no one else can hear the trash talk. Yep you have to in that case throw at 'em. I agree in this situation. But who knows? Maybe the pitcher just happen to lose his control for two pitches. Yeah that's probably what happened. But again who knows only the Coaches I guess and perhaps the players. The truth.....Only God knows that! The rest is just pointing fingers and running mouths. I wonder if the one umpire will be calling the game friday night or will the "powers" that be get a change I'll make a trip to that game to see who the umps are just for kicks. I mean what umpire in his right mind would side against RHS. I wouldn't b/c I'd like to keep my job as an ump. Besides it was obvious that LHS and the umps, who I'm sure didn't warn both teams about pitching in on batters, were victimizing the champs. Go RHS! All the way to STATE! Maybe Riverdaleman should ump the next game. But that's just who I'd pick if I were Coach Powers. I hope Sparta shows more class than siegel and Lebanon did against RHS. I'll be there to see and support our Champs!

Funny post! I hardly think the SS "Powers" was victimized...good grief!

Why was the other thread deleted? Just curious, it didn't seem bad to me.

  7. I'm curious...who hit 8 batters? If SS ran his mouth to Powes/SS....well, now I see why two pitches in a row were thrown behind his back. Maybe THAT pitcher needs to practice his "hit the batter" pitch a little more :thumb: Never said there wasn't mouthing by BOTH teams. Point was, both teams were warned and #1 just happened to be the one to hit another batter. Again, as I said earlier, didn't look to be intentional but he hit him none the less. I think everyone knows there is bad blood between Leb and Riverdale...no lost love, but certainly bad blood.

  8. Both sides were warned if a hitter was hit by another pitch, the pitcher would be ejected. Riverdale pitcher hit a Leb batter and he was ejected, just as the umpires said they would do. I don't think the pitcher hit the batter intentionally, however, the warning had already been given. I'm not sure why the Riverdale team/fans/coaches, etc were so upset. You would have thought they had just been beaten rather than winning 5-0. I did think it was sad that the umpires stopped the boys from going through the lines to shake hands because there was a lot of "mouthing" going on from the Warrior side...both from the players and the fans. Aside from all of the drama, this was a good game through 5 innings the score was 1-0.

  9. Lebanon loses tonight to Mt. Juliet 13-4. Bad night all around for the Blue Devils. Hope they have that bad game out of their system. Lost 2 key players yesterday to ankle injuries which will hurt but gives opportunity for the younger guys to step up. LHP Christian Jennings out 4-6 weeks with a broken ankle and 1B Chase Blalock out a couple of weeks minimum with severe ankle sprain. Hang in there guys, keep your heads up and have fun playing the game!

  10. Congratulations to Lebanon. Good Saturday huh!

Overall it was a good Saturday. This team seems to have gelled. Looked good all around. Defense is solid, pitching is a lot stronger than I had anticipated. The bats look good. 1-9 are producing right now. Looking forward to a fun year of baseball from this group. :D

  11. Your right, it shouldnt matter what your last name is or what your family has done for the community/program... It should be all about the player and the player should want his parents to stay out of his business. But how can this happen when DADS are in the dugout all the time so his son can play..

Sorry to disappoint...there are no dads in the dugout :thumb:

These guys have great senior leadership and believe it or not, they do have TALENT! Wow!

  12. If this staement is true what a testament to your coach for developing those players and what a testament to those players for their hard work to want to get better and for beleiveing in their coach

Yes, it is true. These guys seem to have found the fight within themselves to PROVE they are contenders! Congrats to the Blue Devils on a well fought, well deserved win. Let's keep it going, guys!

  13. :thumb: funny...I remember you trying to whine about us complaining and trying to put the loss on the refs....and all we said is we were in foul trouble. hypocrisy at its finest

Read the first three sentences, genious. The refs weren't being blamed for the loss, an observation was being made. Hypocrisy?....yea right!

  14. I agree Ross. You guys shouldn't be mad at the players for the actions of their fans. It seems to me "lhsbdb" is upset that WC beat Lebanon 4 times this year. Don't take your actions on the WC players. Lhsbdb you will get your chance again next year.

    825670781

Upset about WC winning 4 times...nope! Just think that adults should have more respect for others than to light up right in the middle of them. They should not have to be told to move elsewhere. Looking forward to playing WC again next year!! :D And I never said anything about being mad at the players for what the fans did???

  15. I found it amusing last night when I overheard a warren co parent tell a Siegel player that "man you guys got lucky tonight by beating a team that is much better than you"

    825670582

Doesn't surprise me...what I found amusing, or more like rude was the fact that the parents sat in the bleachers and chairs behind home plate smoking with folks sitting all around them. Could have had the courtesy to step away from the crowd to do that. GREAT JOB to Siegel...good job sending the Pioneers packing and good luck against Riverdale and your future games!!

  16. Just go ahead and overlook Siegel.........

    825667895

Not overlooking Siegel...nobody can overlook them at this point. They have definately turned it on when they needed to and are going to be tough for ANYONE to beat. Just saying have to get through WC first.
