"this was a great event to help prepare my teams for AAU state competition" - Mark Scacewater, Head Coach of the Rangers Basketball Club, Knoxville, TN

  2. I would careful saying Blevins teaches character. I don't think Kyle Cruze, who currently plays at Holy Cross, would say that Belveins teaches character. Blevins runs a "STAR" system, who is blessed with enourmous talent. I think we need to keep things in right prespective.

  3. Well this should be an interesting hire. This is like the 4 coach in the last 10 years. Is this is a good job or are the parents running the show? I think the last few hires have been very weak. 2 out of state coaches, and the current/ex coach got it be default. So lets talk and discuss who the top candidates will be and if Sevier County will make a strong commitment to basketball. I really think that they can be very good.

The top choice should and will be - Donald Dodgen, from Farragut. Donald wants to come home and he should. Donald would bring instant credibility to the program and respect. More kids will come out and play and he may be able to recruit some kids there.

I also have heard through the grapevine that several District 4AAA coaches are interested in the situation. Does anyone know who they could be other than Dodgen.

    Thanks for the friendly discussion!

  4. Michael Dodgen - former women's coach at Smith County

Mark Eldridge - Anderson County Head Coach

Chris Turner - former head coach at Warren County

Russell Tayes - assistant coach in Cassville, GA at Cassville HS, former head man at YAI

Bruce Slatten - former head coach at Sparta

These are target 5 according to the Livingston administration

  5. The only one that might be coming open will be Austin East.

    Is there another out there?

Barnes is the guy at Carter. If any high profile jobs in the KIL open there are other head coaches already in the KIL that would be willing to move. It would be hard for an outsider to overtake a proven coach in the KIL who wants to move to another KIL job.

Gary Barnes = Carter High School

  6. Just wondering what the age limit was for TSSAA eligible athletes b/c Tony Delmonico for Farragut is 28 years old and claims to be just a sophomore in high school.

I find it hard to believe that Farragut; 1) cheats by praciting year round, which they do, there coach said so in TSSAA santinced coaching clinic, and 2) uses players twice the age of normal high school baseball players.

If someone could please verify the age limit for me and how Farragut gets around it I would appreciate it.

Don't even go there as far as downgrading our playing field - last time I checked both teams played on it and let's face it Chad Zurcher is better shortstop than that 28 year old sophomore you guys have, whose dad is going to get canned by the way, Tony Delmonico.

as far as the rematch I really feel teh Cherokees are going to pull it out. We have some great young arms that you folks haven't even seen yet. My bet is that Chad "Barry Bonds" Bell takes the hill next game and throws a complete game shut out. He pitched the championship game in Mrytle Beach and was unbelivable and I know in some scrimmages this year he struck everybody out tha the faced. If he tires, which I doubt, then Moneymaker comes in throw the sinker and then it rerally is all over. BTW moneymaker picks up the win tonight against Central - who BTW is terrible!
