  1. Not sure if he started, but he did get in some meaningful snaps for the Owls today.

Brayden looks good. He will be a good and contributing player for the Owls for the next couple years. MUS' line is their strong point this year. They are lacking in the skill positions, but their line is very large and athletic. Their defense needs some work as well.

Overall they are just a young team and I look for them to get better and better as the year progresses. They have their first game under their belt versus a decent Millington team, but nothing like they will face in division play.

  2. Who played QB for Baylor. I hope Tyler Massey does great in the pros but his Dad (coach) played a hurt Massey too much last year. It pretty much lost a couple of games for them. You know Tyler up the middle, Tyler runs, Tyler passes, Tyler on defense, etc. I heard alot of groaning about it and anyone that saw the Baylor McCallie game on TV knows that lost it for them. Had a great back that just needed inches on a couple of drives and what does the coach do.....call Tyler's number while he is injured....over and over. So, back to my question who will their qb be this year?

    Pros? Did I miss something?

  3. If the refs did that, there is no excuse for it. But we aren't talking about the refs. We are not talking about feeling ashamed about beating a team bad. We are talking about when the game is already in hand and there is no chance of the other team coming back, then why would you take a chance on getting a starter hurt? For example, what if Watson goes down when you are already up 40 and you lose him for the season? Season over. You will have someone take his position but you won't replace his talent and it would all be so you could possible win by 60 instead of 40. Have some class. Build a big lead and put in the reserves.

I am still trying to figure out why CBHS & MUS are playing Carver,Northside,etc... At least MUS played Olive Branch this year and Cookville

The combining of divisions seriously screwed many Memphis' teams schedules. It limited the number of league games during the regular season as you no longer play any of the teams from Nashville. I would hope their are some big changes in the near future scheduling wise for this league.

  4. heres the way i saw it....

Christian Brothers absolutely dominated the battle of field position, but repeatedly shot themselves in the foot on offense. theyd get down inside the red zone and have a dumb penalty such as a delay of game, holding, whatever, and then miss a field goal. kudos to the defense for stepping up and not allowing the owls to get anything rolling.

this one should not have been decided in the fourth quarter as mus was not able to get the offense going all night. and when they would get a little something going, the Brothers would inevitably stifle it out. the fumble that jones returned for a touchdown shifted the momentum to the owls very quickly in the second quarter, but again, the defense would not respond by shutting down the Brothers, nor would their offense after CBHS missed their second field goal attempt.

as i suspected, mus was not able to run the ball and since they dont have a game breaker at receiver, the offense was nothing special. if i were bobby alston, id keep brunetti in the game based solely on the fact that he can beat some defenses with his legs.

the owls' defense is not what i would have expected from an mus-coached bunch. CBHS punched a lot of holes in it allowing Watson room to run, obviously.

the Christian Brothers OL played better this week than they have the past few weeks, but it was clear that Blanchard had not played all season. i think that if he can get going, he, watson, gilbert johnson and improved OL play will pay dividends to the Brothers' offense because they have three guys that can break off a long run on any given snap.

defense pitched its fourth straight shut out and is the reason the Brothers are 4-1 thus far. CBHS takes on carver this week, which makes me sick, but i suppose ill be there to show my support anyway.

First off congrats to the winners of this years rivalry! I always hate to see CBHS win but they took it home this year. MUS really does not have much in terms of speed or playmakers this year. The team seems to take the hits instead of trying to give them. A very passive defense aside from Deandre Jones but sadly 1 player can not make your team. MUS' offense is anemic to say the least.

CBHS' running back has good speed and good size and decent vision. I was pretty impressed with his play but was saddened at his retort in the paper. "We were beasts," Watson said. "We just dogged them. They weren't tired, we just dogged them." Not the best way to show respect to a classic rival and a nice display of lack of class. He had a good game but the final score was 14-7.... I think he needs to pick his words more carefully.

With MUS' schedule being so weak this year as all of the teams in this side of the division are, I would say they will have a decent record and the ECS game will be the deciding factor if they goto the playoffs. I have seen CBHS and MUS play and I fear that the first round of the playoffs if either team draws MBA or BA will be the last game of the season for the Memphis stationed team. MBA and BA if their play lives up to the hype around them look to be 2 brutal teams that don't mess around. I believe the best teams by far are in Nashville this year.

  5. From what I have seen from both teams this year, I would predict a very close game played with great emotion. Neither team is very explosive offensively and the defenses seem to be the strong points. I look for this to be a low scoring game and I will pick MUS by 6.

  6. Yes, this game is being played on Thursday night as an accomodation to MBA`s sizeable Jewish enrollment as the high holy day Yom Kippur begins at sundown on Friday.

What better way to kickoff Yom Kippur than with a football game!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Thats cool just kind of weird for a school with no noted denomination.

  7. What does that mean? Nobody does, get over it or you one of those Ryan alumni that think you are above everyone and says they don't recruit because no one wants to go there.

It is of no use, losers will continue to make up any excuse no matter how assinine it is.

    Dear daboyblackwonder1,

    Please stop raping me

    Sincerely,

    The English Language

I salute you sir. I almost died of laughter.

  8. For whoever sayin that Stratford aint nothing but a schoo full of black students who dont care you are wrong. We work harder more than anybody. We might have got blew out our first two games but thats not us. We should have and could have one our first two games. This friday we will show people that we care that we want to win that we are good cause for now on we be the best black team you will ever see. Stratford doesnt has a good rep but we should. People just think we dont give a crap b/c we are black kids that live in the projects but these so called project kids worl harder than anybody so til u really knw what we are about shut your mouth cause we will go to the playoffs and we will finish the season 5-5.

First, go back to school and actually learn what your teachers are trying to teach you in English. Once you have done this, maybe you will be able to come and post a coherent, legible post that is not filled with ignorance. There are many good black teams out there with a record much better than yours; so are you sure that you "be" the best black team we will ever see? A season finish of 5-5 man you guys will really be burning it up. It is great that you guys WORK SO HARD but guess what kid so do washing machines.

  9. i do my best to tell it as i see it. if i miscontrue something, so be it. im human like the rest of us.

i heard from someone at the gym i lift at on the weekends, from an ob fan, that mus should have won this past friday night just south of the border? bauber, if you were there, whats your take on that game?

MUS made a lot of mistakes but hey thats football right? MUS had far to many turnovers to beat a team with the athletic ability of OB. MUS had 5 turnovers in the first half I believe many of them in OB territory. You simply can not win a game against a good program like OB doing that. MUS lacks a quarterback that has the whole package. They have one that can run and one that can throw decently but also they play THREE quarterbacks through a course of a game. This does not give confidence to a single person to lead an offense as a QB should.

The second half was pretty much the same with MUS not capatilizing on opportunities but OB stepped up and started putting the ball in the inzone. All in all I believe it is another down year for MUS. They are young and inexperienced and really look to have very little leadership in the positions that should be leading. I look for MUS to be a couple games over 500 this year and for this team that will be a solid year. Hopefully they would win them all but I take a more realistic approach yet I will still be there cheering them on!

  10. Also everyone is entitled to his own opinion fluke or not. You are the arrogant one for coming down on someone for what they believe to be true. If he is wrong time will tell otherwise you just look like a complete tard calling someone out over the INTERNET.

That being said. Brobaseball... Will Duffel.. whatever, I have seen CBHS play and you have a very inflated view of how good you are. Chances are you will make it to state and then be crushed in the first round. Every oponent deserves some respect as friday night can go either way many of the times. We are all glad you know #52 so well and live with him; I hope it works out for the both of you.

    Best Wishes.

    GO OWLS

  11. You stated in an earlier post that our victory was a fluke. Open your eyes. We lost to Whitehaven on bad special teams. Take that away we played that 5A team even. Last night we palyed the #2 6A ten in Alabama and lost 28-8. We played good but this team is one of the top teams in the nation. We did not play well but had our chances and lost it on turnovers and a little home cooking. That team would win the Tennessee 3A title with ease. I hope we contunie to have some more flukes.

All I see in this post is arrogance and excuses for losing.

    Nice.

  12. $4,000 has much to do with football in the sense that a family with special needs and a special athlete will choose to save $16,000 rather than blow it just for a certain school. even if there is family ties and the kid wants to go there, most the time the parents will overrule the child and save the 16k and send him to JPII. Your ignorant bauber, but aren't we all.

Yes, I understand this but it always just comes down to crying about scholarships!!! The dog is dead and on the ground turning into dust; it might be time to stop hitting him with a sledgehammer.

  13. It was highlighted in the Tennessean several years ago. Father Ryan provides financial aid based on need like any other private school, then they cut that aid roughly in half so that they can provide aid to more students. It has been this way for a very long time. So, Golden Tate comes along. I talked with one of his family members when he was an 8th grader, and he was on his way to Father Ryan. Can you guess what happen. JPII provided the Tate family full aid. Father Ryan did not. What would you do....... A huge problem I would say if you need to get those 2 or 3 athletes that were already in your system but went elsewhere.

Last year lost to Baylor by 4 at Baylor. Lost to MBA by 7. If you saw this game, some would say the refs blew a call or two. Lost to McCallie by 6 and down to BA at half 10-7. Father Ryan showed up last year in every game with the possible exception of the Franklin game. Father Ryan entered this game 2-0 and may have been a little over confident. At the same time this was the same team Father Ryan destroyed the year before for their first win. Franklin was ready. It may also be interesting to note that Father Ryan beat Ravenwood in a week zero Friday night under the lights game. This game was played for keeps. Of course Ravenwood was in the 5A championship game last year.

When it is all said and done, Ryan will show up offensively this year. Ryan Berry will be tough to stop with a big mature offensive line coming back. They should be able to score some points. The question mark for me is the D. With a favorable schedule this team should win 7 games showing up. Good Luck Father Ryan. Father Ryan wins the first one by 14.

I really miss the where this has anything to do with football. Sounds like another Father Crying post to me.

  14. Good answer for someone who in another post was going to cap me with a nine. You stated your IQ was to high to be a coach, what do you do?

You were the one who implied I was Pacman, so I merely humoured you. I do school, law, one year left in undergrad.

burn. you got me there. i have it all wrong as far as 7 on 7 is concerned, and for that i apologize because youve had to take time out of your precious day spending daddy's money to let me know this.

you're correct, jealousy is not becoming. it is a sickness....hope you get well soon, my friend!

good luck to the owls, buzzards, or my personal favorite, mussies, this coming season.

Is there an echo in here?

Likewise, good luck to the brothers, I am glad to see the cross-track rival still burns strong.

  15. What makes one person better than another?

According to brosbaseball because I am a mussy and daddy is buying. Honestly there are many ways one can be better than another person. For instance every NFL player is better than me with no deviation. I am better at following the rules of society than those who are incarcerated. I could go on for hours but I really would not think simple vocabulary would need to be explained to one who can operate a computer.

  16. complete moron pretty much sums it up. thanks bud. but ill take being considered a moron over a mussy any day. remember, daddy's buying.

and, no, when it comes to strapping it on, 7 on 7 means very little. is it a good way for qb's and receivers to get timing down and figure out each others tendencies? sure. does it mean a whole lot on friday nights? not really.

Yes, oh great guru of the pigskin. I guess I am just confused why every high school, college team, and professional team incorporates 7 on 7 into their training regimen. Lets waste time on something that does not correlate at all to helping us win!!!! Maybe you should write a book and let all of these people who have been doing these things for years and let them know they have it all wrong.

Well last time I checked every father buys until the kid is about 18. Jealousy is not becoming my friend. Does it really bother you that much that I will ALWAYS be better than you?

  17. my choice of words were obviously misleading. i have no problem with mccallie and baylor having students, maybe even some athletes, that board at the school. i can honestly care less. great for them.

and yes im very ignorant. (im a Christian Brothers alum, you should know that. ha.) but im also very sarcastic. my point was that hillsboro competed with some of the "best high schools in the nation" (in terms of football wins/losses) and did well in a 7 on 7 tournament. BUT when it came time to strap it on and take on "lowly" (again, sarcasm) brentwood academy, the burros couldnt quite get it done (yes i know it was a mere practice game).....never said anything concerning 7 on 7 not being good for quarterbacks and receivers. good day sir.

It is VERY obvious you are a Christian Brothers alum. If I remember correctly you said "7 on 7 means nothing" and that implies it does nothing for anyone. Choose your words more carefully and maybe you won't like a complete moron who is "very sarcastic". =/ The day is mine.
