  1. Coach Melton will need a notepad to keep up with all of that. lol. I'm sure he will take care of things in his own way. GO LA. A win is a win.

I agree with the "scrappy" part though.

/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> i wasn't meaning it towards coach melton. its more directed towards the players /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> all of them in general. haha coach melton and i actually discussed it last night. and after talking to him, trust me he knows their problems just as well as i.

    Good luck boys

  2. WOW, incredible game. Hard fought til the very end. A few quick observations:

    1) Great comeback by the Bees. They forced some things on defense, but unfortunately forced some things on offense as well. Which leads us to....

    2) There would have been no need to force that last 3pt'er if even HALF of those open misses had gone in. It looks like Upperman had the gameplan to win this thing. The shots just didnt fall. And they were open shots. Great job by all, sometimes they just dont hit the bottom of the bucket.

    3) Great effort by LA to withstand the Upperman comeback and keep this in the win column. Excellent team, a certainly a team win tonight. Good job.

    4) Great fans on both sides of this game. I am looking forward to the next rematch.

    5) This is not sour grapes, because if Upperman took care of item #2 here, then they would have won. Period. But I have to say, there were some serious mistakes in the Officiating. Some things that were not called, some things that were called. But, I was impressed that they got together on that last call on the Upperman end, and changed the call. That took cooperation, teamwork, and balls on the part of the officiating crew, and you get my thumbsup for that one!!!

    /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

officiating was terrible, well comical on both ends. Kudos for the change at the end cause it was out on us. but as far as the non sour grapes comment.. LA had the chance to put it away early, and went cold.. Bees are one those teams that you cant let hang around for to long or they ll slip right by you..which almost happened last night. LA played probably 10 good min last night. bottom line is if la wants to go far, then they better step up a few things.

    1-REBOUND (every1)

2-get after, scrappy, like the 4th qtr against the bees.( fun to watch)

3-Better post play, on both ends. posts aint gotta score everytime they touch it, inside out, work the ball, have to be stronger, actually get low and post up!! work dam**T !! they couldnt stop Ramsey if he'd just play.

4-Spacing on offense, lettin two ppl guard one? why

5-dont get to caught up in being so strict in runnin plays, i say we spread it out and flash and cut alot cause we have great speed and shooters. penetrate and kick.

6-know your role, dont try to do to much, we gotta great team. 5 threats are harder to guard than 2.

    lol there are my two cents /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    GO GET IT LA !!

    good luck

  3. To my knowledge, Coach McCoin was not run off. If he was told he was going to be fired, just exactly who told him that? You make the statement why hasn't the "other side" gotten on here and told their story, who is the other side? Furthermore, I always thought problems were supposed to be dealt with face to face, not on Coach T. I respect Coach McCoin and his abilities, but matters can be handled better than getting on Coach T and throwing barbs at each other.

you got to be kidding right??? no no your right he left on his on will...just like basketball... let me break it down for ya... Coach gets calls all through the week from angry parents that complain about their soons playin time all the way to coach gettin them too dirty and around here alliances form and politics come into play....so basically it went 1 of 2 ways...scenerio 1- danny, either u resign or we wil have to fire u... scenerio 2- coach bein driven to and over the edge...people that wanted him there now turnin their backs and talkin...calls day in and out...theres only so much someone can take...

    so there ya go...

    welcome to politics...

Coach i hope ya know who really has ur back...

    We miss ya already...

    good choice :lol::lol:

  4. are you sure about this, my son was a senior this year and i've not heard anything about it, when did he annouce this just today. I dont understand what the fans expected we only had about 5 guys that played last year on the championship team and theres noway he could have gave them another gold ball this year with the talent they had to work with, the only thing i seen that he should have done differently is put little mccoin in as qb and holt as receiver but i quess he didnt want to be dogged about starting his son as a freshmen, but if i remember correctly thats what they did with cates. not that holt wasnt a good qb its just that we needed him more as a receiver and that would have gave mccoin another year experience. good luck danny if this is true and i hope u do choose to stay on as a off coord

AMEN!!!! YES u said it perfectly!!!

  5. Danny Mccoin resigns.... i hope everyone in livingston is happy.... And u know who ya are.... you have nagged and complained so much that he has resigned to make u happy... people have been on his case from game 1 this year... and everyone acts like they expected another championship, are you kidding me??!!?? we barely won it last yr and we had so much talent then... this year not only did we not have the talent of last yrs team, we didnt even have the heart, as a whole anyways.... ladies and gentlemen, it boils down to this...u cant qin the kentucky derby with a mule... simple as that.... and that goes for alll the coaches.... there is only so much a coach can do..they cant tackle, catch, block, throw, or run for em....but when they mess up its all blame on the coaches....give me a break.. for those out there that im talkin bout....hope your happy... i jus hope he at least stays on as an off coor.... :D

  6. who got all tournament in the tournament.

    LA- Cates, Monday, Matthews

    Upperman- Jones, York, Someone else

    Macon- Stinson, and #40

    Dekalb- Not even sure

But on upperman, i think it was a joke that the Jones kid got anything...he looked like a 6th grader against LA in the championship game... he had like 4 turnovers in a row!! no tellin how many he ended up wit... i think dunn should had got it...

  7. McCoin - Wilson Cates, Tyler Smith, Lance Ruble, Tyler Livingston, Main ones that McCoin had something to do with.

Melton - Brandon Matthews, Tyson Stover, Justin Monday, Chase Dunn, Devin Ramsey, Jeremy McLearran, Todd Smith, Main ones that Melton had MOST to do with.

Look's to me like there is no contest for who "built" this team. Melton has 3 starters that he had most everything to do with and almost all the bench players, besides 2. McCoin had something to do with two players, and 2 coming off the bench. Bottom line is Richard Melton has been putting consistent players in that high school since 2001, the only thing is Danny McCoin could never do anything with them. My opinion, NO, look back at how many times they have made it out of the region tournament, I bet that is a really small number, and there is no guarantee that they will this year, but with as much talent as they have now, they will be TOUGH from now on, for several years anyways. Melton is an AWESOME coach, and has been putting this team together for years in hopes of them getting to the state tournament, now he got them the players, and they still could NOT get it done, so they had to move him in to coach them all, too. He will get it done eventually, and it very well could be this year. Congratulations to Coach Melton, and the LA Wildcats on an extraordinary year. Good Luck in the Regional Tournaments, and prove all those wrong who doubt that you can make it. GO HOG-EYE.

Is someone sour because he and he cousin couldnt cut it at LA and had to move to Celina??? :D

  8. No question LA has a good team this year and are playing some inspired basketball right now. They really don’t have any superstars, so to speak, but have a team full of winners. They are also well coached and play extremely hard.

With that being said…..last year LA had a very good team as well but was beaten by the # 4 seed out of 8-AA, Greenbrier on their home court in the first round. This year LA will have to travel and play regular season 8-AA champion Goodpasture in the first game. Goodpasture suffered 2 upsets in their district tournament to Greenbrier and White House. This is not good news for LA fans.

My point being….with no disrespect to anyone….. 8-AA is still a much stronger district overall. Your comment about LA only have problems with Goodpasture is off base. The # 4 seed Greenbrier won the 8-AA tournament this year. Station Camp and White House are very good teams and they have all played strong schedules. LA would…or will have a tough time with any one of these 4 teams. But LA has as good a shot as anybody to advance….it just won’t be easy. Like you said….it’s tournament time….and anything can happen.

Who ever does advance to the substate will get the pleasure of facing the # 1 team in the state McMinn Central (29-1) or Howard (24-5).

Good luck to all the teams in region 4-AA. It should be a fun tournament.

Were u aware that the leader of the LA team last year was VERY ill??? i believe it would had been a dif game if cates had been healthy...not makin excuses...jus statin facts :thumb:

  9. and that's why your opinion doesn't matter. I think we had already established that cates is a great player, but the coaches voted for stinson. GET OVER IT

hey good luck in the championship tom night  o wait your playin for 3rd or fourth... well good luck against the extraordinary stinson...hes tough... good thing the coaches dont vote on touney mvp or else someone from dekalb or macon would get, well deserved im sure,

stinson may get the mvp for the tourney too.... Most Vulnerable Player...cause LA took advantage of him all night tuesday....

  10. Those books are wrong...of coarse any one from Cookeville is living high on Cates...he is a good player, but when it comes to basketball he is second in the district to Stinson...how could u pick someone who isnt even the best player on their team(behind Mathews and Monday) and who only averages close to 10 points a game compared to Stinson who averages over 18 a game and whos team was picked to finish last in the district, but because he put them on his back and carried them they finsihed 4th beating every team in the district atleast once besides Livingston...not taking anything away from Cates, because I know that he is the fuel to the fire for Livingston, but so is Stinson for Macon with a little bit better individual stats...the coaches from each of the teams in the district are the ones that voted on the MVP, so I think Stinson won the award out-right...

and i thought u were ignorant about football.... U and other people dont understand that cates makes these players...not takin anything away from them... He is by far the most important and valuable player of this district... no one person can stop him...Ask ya boy Sleeper, he wil tell ya... I am pretty sure stinson couldnt even start for LA.... we saw what happened in the 2nd round when LA decided to actually try the whole game....but ill give Stinson credit, he looked decent against our sophmores.... congrats....

Cates...Monday...Matthews....Smith(off the bench) are all better than stinson.... and we saw that last tuesday night.....

LA wil win district over upperman by 16 pts....

  11. So you are saying that Cookeville didn't play their best? Ok, well, sometimes that is how the ball bounces. Unfortunately for the Cavs, they are not going to play their best everytime they hit the court.

So when they play, we (LA) should expect a blowout, IF Cookeville plays their best?

Of course Twig... LA, we, just cant compete...

on another note, it was good to see you doin Willie Sells seat justice down on the other end, how terrible were those refs....BOTH ways....BOTH games :D;)

  12. That's pretty much what LA heard all year long during football season but they proved everybody wrong and brought home the Gold Ball.

Now I'm not so naive that I think LA can do the same in basketball but anybody can win on a given night. As far as LA having a prayer against Mitchell or Bolivar I would say your absolutely right but these teams are not unbeatable.

I mean ...How many people gave NC State a chance against Phi Slama Jama in 82-83. Or Gallatin in the 70's when they won the state 3A. So never say never b/c it can happen.

I would just about bet that Mitchell or Bolivar don't win it all this year. What you say Doc !!!

Nah tree, its impossible... we will never win a gold ball in basketball.. :thumb: . Good Post

  13. I hope he does go to a D-1 school. That would be great. And he would probably have some success. Not as much as if he went to a D-1AA. Listen, you are takin my post wrong. I think he is a great player. There are kids that are under 6'0 in D-1 but look at there speed. Cates is pretty quick, but not 4.3 or 4.4 I don't think. He would have a chance to be a great player at the 1-AA level. I wish the the best in whatever he does. Glad to here that he gives God crdeit for his ability. Sounds like he is a winner in all aspects of his life. And yes I've seen him play several times.

at the atart of the season he was clocked at 4.5 with his padded pants on... and as of last night Stanford is lookin at him :thumb:

  14. As a teacher at Livingston Academy and the cheer coach, please except my deepest apologies for the rude and completely UNACCEPTABLE behaviors exhibited by some of our "fans". Had we known about it, it would have been dealt with quickly. We do NOT encourage or tolerate that infantile behavior at LA! :thumb:

But on the up side....WOW!!! to the ND fans!!! You were AWESOME! I was in awe...

That was a great football game, as far as I can tell, on both sides! It was worth the cold toes and wind burned cheeks!

C'mon boys...let's do this one more 'gin.

Well i hate 2 burst your bubble but your squad was cheering right along with the student body  and i doubt seriously you would have ever said anything if coach swallows hadnt... As a parent i found it very nice when i heard our students cheering have a safe trip... or drive home safely... sounds like a good jesture to me... but on the up side, its good to see the support the cats had that night... i personally have seen fewer tears at funerals.... Thank God they were tears of joy... Good Luck Cats... WIN STATE.... Hopefully we'll take a couteous and well behaved crowd B)

  15. Wilson is not only a great player, but also a great person. He would give u the shirt off of his back if he knew u needed it. I played ball with him for 2 years and we are still really good friends. He has been the heart and soul of this team for 4 years and he is deserving of everything he gets. I asked him what he thought about Mr. Football and he told me he didn't want it. He didn't want to be put in the spotlight like that and leave his teamates out of it. He told me plain and simple " I just want to win state and thats all that matters." And that is exactly why I think they will win state, because they are not selfish like some of the teams in the past. They don't care who has the most rushing yards or tackles or td's they just want to win, and Wilson is the perfect one to lead this team and I think he does a great job. Bring it home guys and prove the whole world wrong, and do what everybody in Livingston has been expecting for the last 4 or 5 years a state championship!!!

Amen to that shine... He is a man among men. Just the other day i was telling some elderly men bout him, and they kept askin if he let the spotlight go to his head, and the thing is he is the last person that would let that happen. This kid is successful in everything he does. but it doesnt come without a price, Wilson had a work ethic like no other... Always workin on his weaknesses to make them his strengths. i know 4 a fact that every sunday this season we would lift weights and run routes to improve his game... the kid just wants it!! Shine is wrong to say Cates has led this team 4 the last 4 years, more liike ever since the pee wee day at age nine. He is leader and inspiration to people on and off the field... Kudos to whomever started this thread. Good luck cats lets show the state how the country boys can olay

  16. Have they improved a lot from last year or are they about the same?

    825631417[/snapback]

from what i have seen of livingston they lost alot when Randolph left, but the new goalie is comin up strong...Everyone says LA isnt as physical thiis year and that they have lost most of their intimidation factor??? But i do know that burnett, 2 gunnels, pennington, and puckett are holdin it down, and unless Dekalb peaks in soccer then they will lose to LA soccer, just like the other sports ;) but good luck LA, i really hope you have not lost your hard-nosed/scrappy heart about the way you play, bring the intimidation back!!! or i wont come watch ya thumb
