Excellent post ksgovols. This has been on my mind ever since you and I talked on the phone yesterday.
As you know, I was saddened for many reasons when Marshall made his resignation public. He has really done wonders for this school, football team and community. However, I still feel that the reclassification was not a driving force in his decision to leave. I feel he felt his leaving the program was the best thing for the team for many reasons that I will not go into in this forum.
I'm miffed as to what the TSSAA was thinking when they put us in the "private-school super region." I feel for Fairview and East Robertson as well. You are correct in saying that if one of these schools has an awesome talent those 5 teams will be trying to get him. As you know, we lost an up and coming freshman RB this past season to BA before the season began. He will be a D1 prospect by his Sr. year.
I hope that any coaches that might be interested in this job will see the good things Harpeth and South Cheatham have to offer. No matter what has been in the media, there is a community full of good people that will support and help a new coach whenever it's needed.
Whoever takes it will get a lot of great kids that are already working toward next season (which is something I haven't seen in 3 years). And with the right system, maybe we can compete with some of these other teams sometime in the near future.
Hopefully our baseball coach will make it known that the good in this community outweighs any bad that's been put in the public eye.
Having a sophomore son on the team, I can only hope for the best.
