Sounds like a shot across Lake County's bough! Time will tell !! GO FALCONS!!!watertown has not seen athleticism like lc has. i don't like women coaching boys basketball at all but this is class a so really who cares?

Is there any rain in the forecast for Friday night ? Also do we have a decent chance to play in the postseason this year. Still working second shift at Jimmy Dean/SaraLee/Hillshire Brands....Hillshire Brands being the new name. Still making sausage...#1 in the USA......BUT MAN DO I MISS THE FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL!!!!

What happened to Humboldt?Their strong suit is/was the same as BTW,lace 'em up and go!I've said all along the only way BTW does not take the gold ball back to Memphis with them is that an athletic team plays fundamentaly sound basketball,in the way that Trinity Christian did.If Trinity had tried to "just play ball" with the Warriors they would have been blown off the floor.I've tried to tread lightly in stating the difference athleticly between T.C. and Booker T.,out of respect for the heart,determination,and b'ball IQ that the Trinity kids displayed(all qualities needed in an all-around 'baller),but here's the truth...no possible way T.C. should come within 25 of BTW in any circumstance,but they did.If a "better" bunch of athletes plays sound ball against them BTW is vulnerable,if not only Lake Co.has any shot at them at all.

Just wanted to get my opinion in about this.Coach Whitby in my opinion actually had more talented players than Coach B.About 5 of us die hard Falcon fans were talking about this driving to the boro for the girls tournament.Coach Whitby had Russel avery at 6'7 that could shoot from 3 point range and run like a deer.Also had Tony Tyler who signed with Three rivers and is the brother to Rafael tyler.Also had Channin Geanes who was long and tall at about 6'4 and many think he was maybe the best player or one of the best to ever play.Then there was Brandon Springer who at around 6'2 was one of the best athletes and could jump out of the gym and slam flat footed..then then was Sep Valentine,who reminds me a little of Zay Coleman.Not really a shooter but a ball handling wizard that never got tired.I would take that teams over the players Coach b has.But Coach Whitby had Russell out front playing guard and shooting 3's.Plus didn't know who was going to be starting half the time.Maybe the 3rd string and then the starters would have to come in and hopefully bail them out.
Well said bigster, I was going to reply to that post and i haven't replied much for a long time. I have been reading though. Coach Whitby had the talent and superior size. During those years I never missed a game. I was working 1st shift then. Bottom line coach Whitby won a lot of games at LC but he didn't win when it really counted which is the post season. Not at LC anyway. To be fair to him he was not in the best of health near the end at LC. To say that he did some unorthodox things in games such as not calling time outs when they were clearly needed or very strange complete line up changes taking all the starters out. But most bizarre was placing a 6'7" jumping phenomenon at the top of key. Completely out of rebounding range. Ok i think i'll just go back to reading now. Those memories are still painful.

Yes I heard we lost. My son was there. I get to see my first game tomorrow night against Liberty. Hopefully we will bounce back. Second shift is not basketball or football friendly for me. Fortunately, if I have to work on Saturday we do it on the first shift. Liberty is good I have heard.

LOL, I'm sure you do!! LC found ways last year to pull off wins when it counted & they deserved to be state champs, so all those regional & district championship don't mean a thing if we can't win the big one. It's sad to say but over the past ten (10) years Humboldt has lost to the team ( LC, Manassas, union City (2), Ridgeway in AA) that won the state & we don't even have one (1) silver ball to show for it!!! Many teams would just be glad to make it to state but Humboldt has been there two many times to come up short. The sadest season (2009) was going 39-0 & losing on a half court three (3) point shot after we were up sixteen (16) points in the third quarter!!! Hopefully, one day, Humboldt will win one!
If LC can't repeat I wouldnt mind Humboldt winning one too. Keep it in 14A.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Me and a buddy have been going up to the tournament for 20+ years and was there in attendance on Saturday too. I tried to get to this message board on my phone after the game, but for some reason it would never connect to any of the boards.
Anyway, congrats...I know you guys are excited!!! We (Halls as some of you may know) got there a couple of times in the last 10 years but could never get to the finals. It was fun watching a team from close-by win it!!!

As for the Whitby comment, I have to say that over the last few years I thought I had seen better Lake County teams. The past teams have had better overall talent IMHO. So that means that Barger won more with less. So much for the championship belonging to Whitby. BS!

Tigertiger you are absolutely on point about Lake county. All credit goes to Coach Barger and those young men on the team that listened to what she taught them and went out and played their hearts out for her and Lake County. 2011 CLASS A BASKETBALL STATE CHAMPIONS....

Wake up from that dream. As the coach at Obion Central he got it done But as the coach he was at LC....NO WAY......Anyway we don't have to speculate....How many region championships did he have at LC and how many state tournament appearances did he have at LC? He was a great coach. However, in postseason play in Lake County, he never got it done. We had talent when he was here. Arguably the best talent LC has ever seen. Again great coach his wins prove that but at Lake County he could not get it done.

Yea bigster, what is up with that? The Purple has relegated me to long time poster status. An obscure position if I have ever heard of one. You work to feed and educate your family and you get dubbed long time poster. Oh well! I am glad I have a thick skin. That did sting though. Of course nothing could bring me down after that basketball performance yesterday. As the old saying goes, I was as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. My wife just about had to pull me off a cotton candy vendor who was blocking my view of the game. As for BJ, his play was huge for us. He got better and better as the season progressed. I believe some coaching had something to do with that plus his will to get the job done. I don't know how many blocks he had but every one was crucial. Not to mention the shots being changed because of his presence. And also big rebounds. And then you have a poster on here whose name I will not mention make a totally uncalled for comment that disparages the young man who is a honor student and has earned a scholarship to attend college. We will never know but I sure would have liked to have seen Coach B coach Russell and Tony and Channin and the other great players we had not long ago. Just like I thought that with the team we have now we would be much improved, I believe
we would have been much improved then. That is just my opinion. We will never know. You can never under estimate what a great coach can do. That goes for the Coach B of the football team as well. To the Coach B's if you ever consider leaving again DON'T. Do we understand each other? Do your understand the words that are coming from my keyboard...2011 STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS CLASS A..I am just kidding...or am I?

Hey old buddy, you forgot about me. I ain't here as much because of my second shift job but I still keep up with what is going on. And I actually was smart enough to save some vacation just in case we made a run. We did not start overly impressive but I knew we were in good shape with our new head coach. I knew for sure we would be better. I'd be lying if I said that I thought we would win state in her first season. Now we have a Gold Basketball to go with our Gold Footballs....A nice addition to our Trophy case. I was at the game today and nervous the whole time. Congratulations Coach Barger, I knew you were good...Congratulations to the team, you listened, you learned and you got better all along the way. What a run!! Falcons Always!!!!!!!!!!!!

The facts are D12 had 2 teams and D14 had 1 in the Boro. Im not taking anything from Lake Co by saying D12 was the best. Lake Co is #1 and having bragging rights till next year.

Wow I was taking up for the Lake Co Coach by saying the way she run things was right. Why don't you see if your team can make it to Region Championship next year before you get on here popping off to a Final Four Team.
Yea you take up for the coach by insulting an 18 year old. Uncalled for. Not surprising at all though. But somene did say that you were a little pup. I guess you have some maturing to do as well.

I hear you loud and clear wardawg. I know that the B's are people of integrity. I knew that what I was reading didn't sound right. But I still felt like I had to ask the question since noone had replied to what Purple had to say. No news is not always good news. I thanked Bigster for his comments and now that you have commented I know that we can concentrate on basketball now. Good luck to the Falcons at state. I will be watching the game on Tssaa website and if we make it to the finals I will be there. GO FALCONS!!!

Not gonna comment much on this other than to say Derrick Swift IS eligible. He enrolled in school at Lake Co. on Feb. 4 and sat out almost a month while waiting on TSSAA to make a ruling. LC received the letter from Bernard Childress on the day of the sub-state game. P&G don't be fooled by it being said some Hickman people we in LC know who in Fulton Co. is trying to start rumors and make acusations!! All the paperwork was done above board and if you need the proof I will frame the TSSAA letter signed by Bernard Childress and hang it behind the bench during the tournament!! The falcons played by the rules and that is the bottomline.Why would they jeopardize a season when they won the district and region titles without him playing?? Seriously think about it. This issue is more about a first year female coach leading a boys team to the state tournament in a program where a supposedly west tn legend couldn't. I am sure his ego is hurting right about now especially after the comments that were made in the UC messsenger after he was let go and Coach B was hired. Alright need to get off my soapbox now but this petty rumor stuff by people who have no clue gets under my skin!!

Speller.Where did you come up with that.Lake Co has not let him play all this time,waiting on the TSSAA.So I heard he was cleared during the day of the Sub-state game.
I was listening to Purple on that one. I should have known better...................just kidding Purple....you the Man!!!
