Witten is the only one they should have hired. Passing on Witten was the single dumbest move in the history of DB sports. Hiring Carter would have been a lateral move. He's established his own "good ole boy" network at Science Hill. 7-3, 6-4 seasons year in and year out with one of the top athletic bases in the state. He has a knack for making great players descent. He's a good guy, but a little less than average coach. Thats just the truth.

I still believe that it's all about the head coach and who he is allowed to surround himself with that makes a winning team.  Rankin, Quarles, Whitten, and Ballard should have all been targeted when Clark retired. And if they couldn't get one of them, they should have gone after Carter instead of the "less than marginal" goofball that we now have. Carter's wins speak for themselves.

Once again, look at Lafe Cook. Took the band to TOP TEN IN THE NATION 3 TIMES. And #1 in Class in the nation.  And just won the TN governor's cup again. His assistants were NOT responsible for that.  Expect the band to dwindle in 3 years when he leaves, just like Quarles and Maryville.

Be careful what you say because the Head Honchol that runs the place would like nothing better than to see the program brought down to an even keel as the rest of the sports according to an anonymous source. That's why Alcoa is taking over because everyone there is on board. When your leader is rowing the boat the opposite direction as everyone else nothing good comes from it.

DB had one of those.  He tried to take DB down to the db level.  (Dobbyns Bentit to ole Coon Skin caps's school.)

Whether you like to admit it or not, Oakland High School has been running 6A for the past few years, winning 4 out of the last 5 state championships. There’s always been one team to battle it out with Oakland, and that’s Maryville High School. The only other team that won a state championship in the last five years, however, I think there’s a new giant in 6A, and that’s Bearden High School in Region 2, yes, the same region as Maryville. Bearden High School is on the rise with an outstanding young class. Bearden is a very young team, but it does have some outstanding seniors as well. Purdue commits ATH Jaheim Merriweather in the backfield, along with ATH Sam Tummins, who has received interest from numerous coaches but only holds one offer as of right now from the University of Charlotte, is among many other seniors, including Cody Clough and Mugisha Ironside, who should also have a very big senior season. Moving on to junior third-year quarterback Drew Parrott, who looks to have a breakout season but may have solid competition with Seymour transfer Madden Guffey pulling it to compete for the quarterback battle for the upcoming season, Another junior who is soon to catch a lot of names and eyes is LB/RB. Kai Ironside, who transferred in from McCallie last season, had a big impact on the rushing game. With him switching to linebacker full-time for his junior season, he looks to have a breakout season at linebacker. Another junior who deserves a lot of attention is noseguard Boston Yeager, who stands at an intimidating 6'4 and 285 pounds, will have no problem filling the shoes of a very good defensive line last season and, last but not least, one of the best centers in Knoxville. Isaiah Harvey, who has received interest from multiple colleges and coaches, is another guy to keep an eye out on, moving onto sophomores. That’s where it gets fun talking about Bearden at 6'1 and 160. Chaz Smith , who has already received offers from Michigan, Louisville, Kentucky, Florida, and Arkansas, just to name a few, He is becoming one of the best defensive backs in his class (26). Moving onto the other side of the field as a DB, Keshawn Mills is starting to get a lot of attention from coaches and should be a guy to keep an eye on in the near future. Moving to the defensive line, sophomore Ethan Hill, who played some varsity last season as a freshman, will look to continue this for his sophomore season. He’s a guy to keep an eye on in the near future, moving onto offense. 26’ RB Jayzon Thompson, who has already received offers from the University of Miami, Ohio, and the University of Memphis, as well as interest from many other D1 colleges, He should have no problem running the ball for the next few years before moving on to the man with the key to the offense. Seymour transfer Madden Guffy, who has already received multiple looks from coaches, will look to battle it out with the two-year starter. Drew Parrot moving onto the line. Ton Brazelton, who stands at 6'3 and 315 pounds, should have no problem defending whichever quarterback wins the starting job, moving onto receivers. Tory Beaufort, who already has an offer from eastern Kentucky, may be the smallest player on the field. Standing at 5’8, he sure does play with the biggest heart on the field, and it is hard to bring him down, especially in open space. Another receiver to keep an eye on is Grant Cross, with these two holding already as sophomores by their senior year, they should have no problem leaving the defensive back in the dust. They also have some very good middle school coming in, which should have an immediate impact on varsity, receiver Tyler Thompson will look to live up to his brothers. Great legacy he’s had at Bearden, and Terry Beaufort, brother of 26’ WR Tory Beaufort, will continue his and his brothers' great journey at Bearden High School!

So that should give you an idea of why I and many other people think Bearden is the team of the future in 6A. They will still have to get past Oakland, which is no easy component, and play in Region 2 with teams like Bradley Central and Farragut and Maryville. It will be no easy task to make it past any of them but with this roster and second-year coach Josh Jones, who has already proven he means business. The dogs could be the team of the future in 6A.

Hey look Daddy, your boy ain't that good.  So forget Pappy.

Coach Poore has 'em ready for sure. Won 10 out of 11 to finish the season and that was a last second shot that beat DB. DB is going to be hard to beat...playing at home in the District and the Region.

I do hope you're more correct about the "Tribe" thing than the readiness thing. 71-63? Not ready. Last year was a fluke just as I suspected.

Was it Waco that said we're a band school now? Apparently we are.  And you know, I'll take that. At least the band is consistently, competitively, placing in the top 10 IN THE NATION. Yeah.  Ill take that.

These lizard people using laptops to traffic babies out the basements of pizzerias with gas stoves and sexy candy will stop at nothing!

And how DARE Kingsport school officials call the renovated Sullivan North the TRIBE Athletic Complex!

    Meow. Yum. Repatriated lizards.

Honestly, I don't see the Indians making it past the Knox area teams. But then I was surprised last year.

THE TRIBE - has been around a long long time, nothing new.

In the late 70's the student section cheered - ROLL TRIBE ROLL at every game. You are def an Indian if you are part of The Tribe.

Well, I wasn't trying to say it's something new. I am saying the use of the word "Tribe" seems to be replacing "Indians". Wokeness in Kingsport politics. I do know we have a left leaning school board. A former head of the board is a left wing fanatic.

Yeah, even in my ancient days of yore, The Tribe was was used as a nickname but we were Indians.

  7. It seems these days, at least in basketball, that all I see is "Tribe" this and "Tribe" that. "Tribe Nation" at the end of the court. "The Tribe" everywhere including this board.

    What?

These are "The Indians" not "The Tribe". So what's going on here? Perhaps a little left wing attempt to slowly and subtilely take away the word "Indians" relative to Dobyns-Bennett?

What we really need to do is get rid of the word "tribe".  Why? Because the radical Left that wants to take away our heritage is actvely  trying to divide us into tribes and put labels on us. Time to stop it.

Holy moley Waco. I'm for sure that I don't carry any weight with these guys like you do, but can I go with you? I've always wanted to sit with RW & Uncle Stars. I think.  I promise to cheer for Murvul. (As if I need to promise)

told yall db has oak ridges number now under Coach Christian. yall didnt believe me. now if he can just stop getting whooped by Science Hill every year...

You are obviously joking.  Christian does not have Oak Ridge's number.

He has Graham Clark's number. I saw him calling Clark 3 times for advice. As usual, the plays didn't go well.

Now we have a this idiot that has personally destroyed our broadcast of the away games and nobody will do nothing  about it because their scared of her I guess. Wait until you hear why she wouldn't let the high school kids wear black shirts to the Alcoa game. You let this Henny Pen hang around long enough and she'll be the one that gets rid of the rebel mascot. Mark Barney's words down , she needs to go. Scat.

Yeah.  They got rid of our local Rebels.  They consolidated and became the Wolfies, I mean Wolves.  Indians may be next.
