  1. From what i have heard it sounds like raul isnt a certified teacher, therefor you have to be an assistant for at least 5 years to be a head coach. which i honestly think its unfortunate, i think hes a really nice guy. my best advice is to let coach Cox be the head coach and let Raul run the show. all i know is you need to get it figured out quick, if you ###### foot around you may end up not making the region tourny with that district youre in

  2. Yes GC, thats the name I was trying to think of......Seth Skogen. Now am I wrong here or was his dad not the coach of that Temple team? Yea, the Skogen kid was unstoppable in the first half of that game. Humboldt ran into another kid the year before in the semis from Grace baptist that had the same kinda game........can't remember his name either but he was a skinny white kid that hit 8 3's in the first half of that game. I understand that Grace is not as good as they were then. They had the big Mcmasters kid inside. I still say let me see Humboldt and Temple in the semis and Humboldt and Manassas in the championship........hope the brackets fall that way.

I played for cosby at the state tourney in 07 when that kid hit all those 3's against humboldt. im pretty sure his name was Davis Eldridge. that kid was plum wet!!!

  3. You are forgetting the fact that these gyms, along with probably every other gym named in this thread, are probably at least 50+ years old.

oh i know it. some of these places deff need to some work done. im 2003 when cosby played rockwood in the region championship at MIDWAY that was a sight to see. place may hold 550 packed. there was probly 800 in there. an i did play at cloudland actually that was very small too. old hancock co gym was one of the craziest places to play.

  4. i played for cosby an was a senior on that 06 team i believe mr hartsell was talkin about. in all honesty i believe cosby an cocke co have the same amount of talent, but cosby excells because they are playing 1a ball, while cocke co has to go against the 4a schools. this year i think cosby would beat cocke co tho.

going to the conversation about the feeder programs i went to grassy fork which is the smallest school in the county, but was academicly excellent. so im a fan of the small elementary schools. however i think it would would be great to keep every elementary an make them k-5. and make 3 middle schools in the county. i would send all the elementary kids from smoky mtn to cosby elementary and make smoky mtn school a middle school for the kids from the cosby, grassy fork, and smoky mtn area. and if the middle schools kids from del rio an bridgeport wanted to go there ( because they want go to cosby high) then they would have to have their own transportation. build a middle school program in parrotsville, for the middle school kids from parrotsville, del rio, bridgeport, centerview an maybe northwest. (which that midle school could be located in parrotsville). an the last one could be at edgemont, for the kids from edgemont and any middle school kids that live in the city an want to go to a county school. that gives us 3 middle schools at smoky mtn, parrotville, and at edgemont. therfore no money would have to be spent to build any schools, and no schools would be shut down. i believe that would help both high schools sports programs greatly. each middle school would have there own sports programs and play each middle school in the surounding areas.

  5. Nole, I'm gonna bring a couple cases of Dr. Enuf's. I don't think the Eagle fans have ever tried them, since they only sell them up here. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I hope eagle girl and big bubba or even Yoakum will come up and try one. The old King would also like to meet the Lowe brothers if they decide to come. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

hey there king. its cody, half the lowe tandom /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> well im workin alot an tryin to get my real estate license right now so i wont be able to make up for the big game. lol i bet the grass still aint right from my senior year. i caught a TD in the endzone where the scoreboard was an my shoe came off an stuck in the mud. lol good times. im jus glad the program has got turned around to where it is. i take pride in where my senior year teammates mr rone, bubba byer, my brother an i set the bar at cosby to where winning is expected an anything else is falling short. i know when i was in high school i got on here a read all this stuff so you players from cosby thats reading this take pride in being the best you can be an work hard everyday. that way you wont regret a thing. good luck on roan mtn fellas. btw king jus to let you know when i played against cloudland i wanted to beat them extra bad just because of the KING. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

  7. I'm not sure it's just a perception, it's actually the way it is.

A 3 of the last 6 titles not many A schools in the west

AA 4 straight all from district 12AA and 9 of the last 10, the only one was Giles County with UT star Tyler Smith

AAA last year was the first time in 8 years a team from Memphis didn't win AAA

18 of the last 24 state titles are teams from West Tennessee

In 2004 the final day of the state tournament all 6 teams were from the west.

The proof is there, the past 7-10 years the west has owned Division 1 basketball.

i know all this isnt credible because in 2004 Unaka won the state tourney and they are in the east! get your facts straight before you get on here bashing the east and middle Tn to death. ill agree with ya, west is on a different level compared to east in basketball. but east plays pretty good basketball itself with programs like Unaka, Temple, and Cosby just to name a few. the way it usually goes is East Tn is Football, Middle Tn Baseball, An West Tn basketball. I predict UC will win it all this year. after the way they went out last year i would say they are hungry for a gold ball.

  8. i got to make it to the north greene at cosby game an it was a joke. the only person who i thought was even decent from NG was #4. he could actually shoot a lil bit. there defense was a joke, they stayed in a zone an let a good shooter put up 35 by hitting 8 three's on em, i really didnt understand that. how will district 1 shake out?

  9. well this our first year in this region, and i think it will be real competitive this year. its early in the year so it'll be hard to tell who will win it this year. these are my favorites

    Hampton

    Cloudland

    Unaka

    Cosby

    Hancock co.

    (maybe) jellico

These arent really in no paticular order, but this is just an educated guess from what ive heard early on this year. What does UH have this year? havent heard anything on them, and if i missed a contender fill free to fill me in.

And Grace is in region 2 with Rockwood,Harriman,Wartburg,Oneida which i think will be the contenders from that region

  10. if i had to bet my money on who would win region next year id have to still bet it on hampton. a program like that dont rebuild, they reload. grace outa be really good, no telling who they will bring in to play. if they won the region it wouldnt suprise me a bit. cosby i think will finish 3rd, gets alomost everyone back, and they D out will be stout with big 85 cloging things up. the rest i believe is a crap shoot, no telling where they will end up.

  11. Remember what happened when you left Grace last year, we beat you by 27. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Congrats on your last 10 years and 6 state appearances and I assume you guys have had a basketball program for at least the past 20 years or so. Well, this is only our 5th year of basketball at Grace and I think that we have done pretty good and are obviously getting better. So yes I will give you a holler when we establish as many years as you guys have had and pass your accomplishments up......and yes, it will happen. Good luck this season and I really, really, really do hope that the Rams and the Eagles meet somewhere down the road this year.

that will be fine with me were not afraid of anyone, honestly u probly have the better team this year and should go pretty deep. i was just sayin west tenn basketball is way ahead of us, an when u got to the state tourny it would get ugly an u got all offensive. good luck tho

  12. Well maybe you should check us out now, but wait, Cosby left our district and went to a cupcake district so that probably won't happen. By the way, do you remember who won the district championship last year and who went home in last place. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

hey big boy guess what you havnt done anything yet. remember what happened when u came to cosby last year? i think we beat u by 25 /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> . listen since 1997( the last 10 years) we been to the state tourney 6 times. state runner-up twice. when u get in company like that, come holler at me, but thats not gunna happen. the reason we switched districts is because we got tired of driving 2 hours to every district game, by the way we either won the reagular season or district tourney 5 years in a row. im not tryin to brag but ur not runnin ur mouth to some garbage program, we're tough year in, year out. yea u had a real good year last year 30-3 an got put out in the region semis /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> . that means play some body or recruit a lil better so u can win down the stretch.

  13. listen im not from Maryville or SS, but it dont matter what class Maryville is in, they would win the champiomship in 5A. it is the best program in TN sports history, it is unbelievable what they do year in year out. imo alcoa has more talent then maryville, but look at what maryville does to them, beats em to death. i wanna see how far they can go w/out losing a game. unreal

  14. You guys misunderstood me, i didnt say cosby would beat grace this year, because that is not true. what i said is its hard to beat teams with the likes of cosby who has been there deep in the post-season every year like cosby. unaka, and cloudland. i played for cosby last year and graduated, this year and last years teams were not the normal cosby. we still gave it to ya pretty good at home /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> . and to bring up ut is a lil farfetched, u dont have any loftons, or smiths on ur team. my junior year in 06 we were tough 34-2 and got beat pretty good team in the 1st round and that cosby team would beat the brakes off this years grace team. but when(if) u get to murfreesboro you get to see west tennessee basketball, which is miles ahead of east tennessee. good luck /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  15. listen i bein watching basketball in this region for 10 years, and grace just dont have the big man to do anything way down the road. yea u will win the district this year, but when u play the teams like unaka, hampton, and cosby late in the region tourny thats bein there every year it will get tough. good luck tho, oh yea winning the state is way outa the question, be happy to get there. its a different bread of basketball down there guys.
