1. That's it....our other losses since are in the playoffs.  Bigcatt, I don't believe you HATE us, but like you said, you do like to see us beat.  No problem with that.  We like kitty meat on occasion too.

You're right about feeling good about being envied and hated....we do like it.  I say this all the time...I'll say it again...the warmest fire known to man is your rivals hatred/envy.  It keeps us warm at nite... thumb

Yep newman. We'll all be so embarrassed as we parade thru town Saturday mornin, holdin up that big gold ball...what a pathetic loser you are. no team you coach could score 1/2 point on Melrose.

  2. Disregard question #1.  Just went back and read your previous post.  So since 95 Halls is the only other team that has beaten Maryville twice.  Halls won in 95 plus one other time since then.

  3. Lets make it 6 titles in 8 years before we call it a dynasty

    825468113

Y'alls lack of understanding of the dynasty has brought me outta hiding...it takes 10 titles to have a dynasty...doesn't matter how many years between them or if their back to back...just 10 titles. We're short 2 for now.....for now. thumb

hE'S GONNA NEED A MIRACLE TOMORROW NITE...

  5. well boys,4 o clock is departure time for me heading down the the boro.  i gotta go  watch the boys from across town play and then spend the night with some friends of mine over at MTSU.  i think this game is shaping up to be a great one.  i think the two best teams are playing, but for sure the best team will win, and that WILL be Maryville.  Our pep rally today was insane.  these kids are fired up and ready to play some football.  all i have to say to melrose is im sorry....im sorry you are subjecting your boys to the beating they are going to recieve tomorrow night, its not even gonna be funny.  you better hope the ride down is the best ride of your life because the ride home is not gonna be so pleasant.

    Y'all tear it up tonite...

  6. Im happy for all you guys that love maryville and all that. however, this praise about GQ........ i dont want to rain on anyones parade, but ill take tim hammontree over him ANY day. just my opinion. other than that i hope the rebs pull off another championship.

    825466280

Yeah, you watch Tim at Rhea Co. and see how many championships he wins while GQ is at Maryville. Zero, zilch, none...you take him.

I say that with no disprespect to Tim at all. I think very highly of Tim and have fond memories of him. There is NO comparison between the two though.

  7. "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO YOU ARE!"

just trying to keep the Rock quotes going....

    825466194

    Bring it...juuuust bring it!!

FINAALLLY....THE SWARM HAS COME BACK TO MURFREESBORO!!

  8. C'mon man...I think we'd want something a little nicer than that to sit next to all our golden balls!

    825466151

Oh dear Lord...the mileage I could get outta that statemnet... I thought you knew me better then to say things that wide open!!

Nah, I like the keg...have been ticked ever since they got rid of it. That is one of the many reasons for my wonderful disposition.

Are you tryin to say this is not some kinda intergalatic kegger?!!

  9. As far as instant results go, it does not get much better than Tim Johnson at Franklin high school.  Took a team with good athletes and made them a team that wins week in and week out now.  Just call him Urban Meyer, the 'it' coach.

    825466115

Yeah, it'll be interesting to watch franklin the next few years and see what he does with a group of his own kids...I'm sure he'll do well.

  10. You don't have to eat crow on my behalf as I'm not a Riverdale fan, but I understand what you're saying.

And I certainly have nothing against any coach (Rankin, Quarles, anyone) who a fan wants to put up as "the best"; like "Best Program in State" threads, there are plusses and minues for every candidate/team.  However, I sometimes cringe at the thought that excellence and superiority, particularly when it comes to coaching, is measured in terms of perfection or near-perfection in the W column.  If Rankin or Quarles went to Red Boiling Springs, which is fresh off of two 0-10 seasons, and took RBS to a 2-8 record next year, they wouldn't be getting nearly as much credit as being good coaches, even though they should be.  There are too many variables in high school football (e.g., open-zoned publics playing versus non open-zoned publics, publics playing privates, strength of schedule, etc.) to say the "best" team or coach is the one with the most wins.

    825466085

I agree. I applaud any team that thinks enuff of their coach to post him on this thread...that only means good things.

  11. Been out of the loop for a day or so but I did hear coach Reid on Sportstalk 990 say that Heritage and WB had dropped Alcoa.  Is it official that WB has dropped them?  If so, Alcoa needs to stop playing both in all sports, period!  Also, if losing to better competition which is not in a lower classification is the reason for pulling out of this game then if Heritage and WB has any guts (which they don't) they'll drop Maryville IMMEDIATELY!  They won't though because this is absolutely the biggest gate of the year.  Thank the Rebs for the payout and the beat down.  How sad when a new coach can come in and throw his weight around over administration that has been in place for a while and a member of this community for ever.  Enjoy those loses to Seymour and Campell Co. because it will happen.

    825465932

    beat down....I love it :lol::rolleyes:

OK...LET'S SHIFT GEARS SOME GUYS. A large majority of you wanna keep some form of Blount Co championship. That would take each team devoting 3 games of their schedule to Blount Co. Don't you think that's what makes Rgions 1 and 2 so weak?!!

Another question...if by some act of God the administrators see this poll on coacht and resechedule the games...shouldn't there be a trophy for whoever wins? I hear there's a blue, white and orange beer keg over at UT gathering dust...it could be kept at The Par-T-Pub on display till someone new wins it each year. :(

  12. My point was that Levy went 0-for-4 with the Bills in the Super Bowl, while Rankin is 1-for-4 (and likely 2-for-5 after tomorrow) in state title games since 2000, and 3-for-8 (and likely 4-for-9 after tomorrow) overall in state title games.  I don't think it's fair to say those two have the "same resume" in terms of winning a big game (beyond the fact that we'd be comparing the NFL and the TSSAA).

In playing consecutively in title games, yes, one could say they have similar resumes.

    825466065

When and if he wins #2, I'll eat some crow...until then their a lot alike (in appearances anyway).

  13. How do they have the "same resume"?  Levy never won a Super Bowl title; Rankin has won three titles.

    825465957

5 Championship game appearances....being the operative word. Was he not clear in that some of those were championships? I'm just going by what he posted....I don't know the guy.

  14. OMW ... feel free to hit my celly when the game is going on. Who know's ... I may drop you a call during the game.

On another note ... I think i'm going to break down and become a coacht member. I can see it now .... I'm going to inform my wife of my desire to join ... and she's going to throw me that raised eyebrow look in a the manner that 'The Rock' of the WWF uses! .... LOL! She already thinks I spend too much time CONSUMED with football! LOLOLOL! But ... I think i'm going to join. A christmas present to daddy ... yeah ... that sounds good doesn't it? Don't know if it will fly .... but that's my story ... and I'm sticking to it! LOL!

    825465872

Join your gabronee, or the Rock is gonna lay the smack down on your candy !! hahaha :(

  15. Well, we're approaching 24 hours before game time and I honestly feel that the 2 best teams are matched up for the title.

All of you that are going be safe as you travel.  I have the feeling that this one will live up to the hype and more.  I will drop the $20 and watch the internet feed with several other Melrose graduates that are in the Dallas area.

Like K Dub stated, Win or lose I'll check in after the game and be gracious regardless of the outcome.

Does anyone know the record for a crowd to see a championship game?  What size crowd is expected for this one?

    825465845

You should run right down to the Cadillac Grill downtown and demand they carry the internet feed at the bar omw!! Threy have GREAT fajitas!!

  16. GovMan: You are right.  I wasn't intending to offend but I can see how my statement could offend.  My apology.

    825465837

I took it in jest....seems like due to the troubles WB has had this year, maybe y'all are wearin your emotions close to the surface? Just a thought...

  17. I am heading to Murfreesboro in a few minutes. I hope Alcoa,Maryville and Fulton bring it home to East Tennessee. Good luck to all the teams playing for a championship. Congratulations to all the teams that are playing this weekend. It is a great honor for all these teams to be playing for a championship. I hope all the teams have a safe trip and I hope their are no injuries.
