  1. PH,

The time and effort you put into this site is appreciated. It would be impossible for one person to rank the entire state, especially in 5 divisions. Everybody wants their team to be on top. After getting to a couple of tournaments and playdays with some better teams the last few weeks, what is known it is hard to say who is the best from day to day. In the Chattanooga area, the top teams have all traded wins and losses, so it is very subjective as to who is best, but it's probably: Ooltewah, Boyd, Cleveland, Red Bank, Soddy, Baylor, Walker Valley, Signal Mountain, Chattanooga Christian, East Ridge. Next week it could be a different order (except that last 3 won't break into the top 7).

  2. p4k,

I may be able to do you one better. Last year, in the stats reported in our local paper, one team had three girls who were averaging 7 kills a game. Again, its possible, but I don't think so.

  3. Signal Mountain improved to 2-0 in District 6-A, defeating Marion County in 3 straight games. The Eagles started slow, winning the first game by the score of 25-22. SMHS played much better in the final two games, winning by the scores of 25-10 and 25-12. The win improves the Eagles overall record to 12-1. Signal Mountain will not play again until this weekend's Tennessee Tandem Tournament at GPS.

Hixson opened with an impressive 25-20 win, but the Eagles rallied to win the next two games by identical scores of 25-17. Signal closed out the match with a 25-15 victory in the fourth game.

The Eagles went 3-0 in pool play, defeating Marion County 25-23 and 25-13, Sale Creek 25-14 and 26-24, and Hamilton Heights 25-7 and 25-12. In the second game against Sale Creek, Signal trailed 17-24 before reeling off 9 straight points for the win. In the semi-finals of bracket play, Signal defeated host Hixson by the scores of 25-13 and 25-20. The finals was a rematch with Sale Creek, which SMHS won rather easily by the scores of 25-12 and 25-18. The win improves the Lady Eagles to 8-0 on the season. Rhea County defeated Hixson for 3rd place, and Lookout Valley defeated Marion County for 5th place.

In the first game the Lady Eagles moved out to an early lead and cruised to a 25-11 victory. East Hamilton played much better in the second game, winning 25-18. 7. Sydni and Andi are twins, and are juniors. Sydni plays RS, and Andi plays OH. The other juniors are Georgia Paturalski (Setter) and Holly Brotton (DS). The sophomores for Signal are Callie Hildebrand (OH), Allie Jennings (DS), Carly Jonakin (MB) and Laura Powell (MB). SMHS was a new school last year (with no senior class), and this is basically the group that played varsity last year.

  8. On Tuesday night Signal Mountain travelled to Ringgold for its second match of the season, and just like the previous night, the Lady Eagles were able to win the rubber game of the match, defeating the Tigers 2 games to 1. In the first game Signal Mountain fell behind early, and could never overtake the Tigers, losing 21-25. In the second game, led by the serving of Sydni Abbajay, the Eagles jumped out to a commanding 15-5 lead, and never trailed in route to a 25-20 win. In the third game, neither team was able to take control, and the score was tied at 24 apiece. The Eagles were then able to claim the final two points of the match, winning the game 26-24.
