  1. Bradley gets no kids from Cleveland and Walker Valley has taken kids from Bradley (check WV's line-up, more than one of their starters have been in the Bradley room) and they still ran away with it.

If you want to beat them then outwork them and then complain.

you guys are great. Thanks for the post season entertainment.

  2. Traffic should get better:

I-65 in Williamson County - From SR 840 to SR 96

    FAQs

    1. When are they going to do something about the congestion on I-65 in the Cool Springs Area?

TDOT is currently working on the development of engineering plans on the widening of I-65 from four lanes to eight lanes from SR 840 to SR 96 and the modification of the interchange at SR 248 (Goose Creek Rd.) in Williamson County. A public meeting is scheduled for the Fall of 2009.

    2. When will construction begin?

A section of the I-65 Widening Project from SR 248 to SR 96 has been targeted for construction funding for the summer of 2010. Plans development is currently underway.

    3. Will my property be impacted by the widening?

No additional right-of-way will be needed for the widening of I-65. However, if you have property at the SR 248 interchange, there may be some impacts on right-of-way.

So road construction on the interstate will help traffic? maybe in 5 years if TDOT works there like it does everywhere else

  3. BTW strongbad, there's some stuff out there called "Anti Monkey Butt Powder". I was sent some of that in a care package during my deployment. It works better than Gold Bond. :D

Better than Gold Bond? This I have to try!!!!!

Wait......I want to complain that I didn't know this before

  4. Have to throw this out there too:

Bradley Central step on the same mat as a Division II team. For such a strong team, it's frustrating to know that they will NEVER face Baylor, Ryan, Callie, or any other private school. A little unfair to the Bear wrestlers as well. Cleveland and Soddy have been your only rivals for like fifteen years, why not raise the stakes?

Change State tournament to double elimination

Combine Division I and II in the individual tourney for a TRUE State Championship

lol. change the name to "Beating the Dead Horse". However, Bradley did wrestle Ryan and Christian Brothers at a dual tournament at CB a few years ago (05 I think) so saying they will "never" wrestle these teams is fairly inaccurate. The only schools they don't schedule are Baylor and "Callie".

Bradley and Cleveland have been wrestling for a lot longer than 15 years.

The stakes don't change, regardless of who you wrestle during the season. State titles are the goal.....period.

BTW...The gold bond worked. I'm happy

  5. "..................nor will we participate in any attempted validation of DII."

    BB

Bayou Bear: Is this an indication that it will again be a waste of time for BCB to post the the annual "When will we get to see Baylor and Bradley wrestle?" topic on this board when wrestling starts up again next season?

Strongbad: In keeping with the theme of wrestling on dirt in a agricultural center, for this inaugural year only, all wrestlers who successfully execute the cow catcher for a takedown will receive three points instead of two.

For all you folks who feel inconvenienced, cheated, robbed, unsatisfied or baited-and switched for having to watch a few high schools teams wrestle that did not meet the rigorous qualifying process that only D-I AAA schools go through to get here,

It's Sunday, I'm bored, wrestling doesn't start on the Big 10 network till 7, so.......

If you "successfully execute the cow catcher", you should have him on his back and get 2 then 3. Lets just call it 6 to keep things simple.

We should all be happy that we get the opportunity to watch sub-par wrestling because these poor teams deserve it.

AND....it's always a waste of time, no matter how many times BCB posts it

  6. Complaints, complaints, complaints. I have honestly seen the Williamson Co. Ag Ctr for events other than rodeos. It is a good facility. Yea the TSSAA will make/save more money, but isn't that the idea in business. .

Good point, except that the TSSAA is not a for-profit business. It is a regulatory body in charge of High School athletics. They made money at UTC, so how does it benefit the kids that wrestle if they make more money?

I hope it is a good facility for wrestling. Have you seen any wrestling matches there?

I never heard anyone that came to see the trad tourament say that the place was too big. All I ever heard was good things. I personally don't care what area of the state the tournament is held as long as it is not a step backwards.

We will see in a few weeks. Maybe it will be the best state ever.

  7. Strongbad,

The ancient greeks wrestled on dirt floors. Whats wrong with a little retro? Pulllleasseeeee... The dirt floors are sprayed and hardened and covered multiple times before the mats are laid down. The Ag center also hosts expos and other event where livestock are not involved.

I personally think the wall around the arena is a good thing as it keeps fans in the stands and wrestlers on the floor. The view will be excellent.

Be sure to wear your spurs and chaps..................... :thumb:

I hope you are right, however, I was at a similar venue and it was not good. The floor was bad. The seating was bad. Maybe this place will be better, I hope so.

As far as your logic with the ancient Greeks.......They also wrestled naked and it was socially acceptable for men to keep young male lovers until they were married. You can be as "Greek" as you

want. Retro is singlets that snap in the crotch.

And like my daddy always said......"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

I don't mind driving if it is to a better venue for the event. IF. And while we're using cliches "Be careful what you wish for"

  8. Having an invitational tournament at the same time as the State duals is a joke. I don't care if DI and DII are in the same building or not (as long as facilities permit) but the idea of teams being invited when the others had to qualify is not right.

As far as the facilities go, I was at the NWCA National Duals this weekend and it was not good. After being there and looking at the pictures of the place in Williamson Co I think the fans of TN are going to be disappointed.

    1. Dirt floor- Dirt? really?

    2. Seating- Seating is far away from the floor and not on a steep enough slope for everyone to be able to see when the floor fills up. I don't believe it will be adequate to fit everyone for the individual tournament. 10,000 to 5,000 seats? How is this "growing the sport"?

    3. Atmosphere- TN did a great job of putting on one of the better state tournys i have been to. The facilities and the production were top notch and after being at a tournament in a rodeo arena I doubt it is going to "feel" the same for the wrestlers, coaches, or fans.

I understand that the duals outgrew Clarksville but i can't understand moving the individual tournament. ..........oh yea, I almost forgot........ The director of the tssaa and the director of wrestling both live in the area. and now the tssaa gets to pocket more money. Will the sport see any of this extra profit? We'll see.

  9. Bradley- Quinn Gibson and Matt Keller. Keller gets the edge and wins by record and college career but in high school Gibson was as dominate as anyone. Both took the mat mat with bad intentions. I wouldn't hesitate to take either on my side in a wrestling match or a fist fight. However, it would be hard to argue against Rusty Blackmon either.

  10. [ People will go to see some top ranked wrestlers go at it. Campbell Lewis might be top twenty in the nation at 125 but that doesn't mean he is the only good wrestler. year.

Campbell is a great wrestler and i like to watch him but top 20 in the Nation? Who has him ranked that high? I looked and couldn't find him ranked at all.

  11. Not taking anything thing away from anyone but watching the matches there were several questionable calls. Miller was out of bounds a couple of times and so were Chris' feet. Like I said though, as a wrestler I respect the heck out of Bradley wrestlers and their coaches. This was just on that ref. I personally found it really cool the way they used the spotlight. I now see why some teams in the state are so intimidated of Bradley, Lunatic Fringe is a creepy song and it matches perfectly with their warm up. I did my job and me and my team mates wish we could do it all over again. Good luck in the future...

Close matches between good kids often come down to the small things. Like who wrestles better on the edge. CLose calls are just that......close. In this case the close calls went to the offensive wrestler. From what i saw all of the take downs on the edge were in bounds. Great match though and my hat is off to Miller and his coaches for bumping up to get the best comp. Everything is pratice until Feb.

  12. If "the fans" care so much about the greater good and what is best for the sport, maybe they should go to THEIR schools and demand accountability from their program and coaches. How many programs are sub-par across the state? If the rest of the state would raise their level, wouldn't that help the sport more? How many programs are run by coaches who let their teams be below average? Go to your local school board and demand that these coaches be held accountable. Go and volunteer your time to programs, help raise money to send kids AND COACHES to camps, help with kids clubs or start one in your town if there isn't one. Wrestling is one of the few sports where having great work ethic will result in success. If you aren't very good then you should work harder.

In the words of Tom Brands "You don't deserve anything, the only thing you deserve is what you earn". What have fans earned? These teams don't owe "the fans" anything.

They are successful because they outwork everyone else and as long as they continue to do that they will be among the best.

    just my 2 cents
