  1. Meigs came out flat. Got hit in the mouth and were down by 20 by the time the smoke cleared. Take away the first quarter Meigs lost 15-12. Not awful. Green backs Multiple formation I looked much better than Meigs spread. We're a running football team! Line played as good as they have in a couple of years. No offense to Alwaysright but our QB is not our strong point. He'll get better just he's just green. These are good kids they will win some games. Oh and parting thought I didn't really enjoy the rachet jawing the QB did at the reciever that ran the wrong route :( That looks bad on the whole team. You win with class as a team, you lose with class as a team. Go Tigers! Lets right this ship. :thumb:

I couldn't agree more, our running game is our best weapon. Hopefully they all learned some valuable lessons.

  2. Just for the craps and giggles your QB was 0-6 and two interceptions-were you even at the game?

Yes , i was at the game, and our QB who hasn't played Qb since he was a freshman, was not o-6 . We had a screen pass completed for a few yards, but of course was called back for holding. We had another pass in the flat that the RB dropped. We had a deep ball on GB side line that was dropped. We had three passes to a slot rec. that should have been slants, but he got jammed on the line and it is a pass thrown where the rec. should be not where he is! As far as the ints. (you can never throw late accross the middle)and the other one was supposed to be a seem route not a post. It doesn't sound like you know enough about QB to even have an intelligent discussion about it.

  3. Week 0 was not kind. Conference again appears to be weak. Conference record after week 0, 1 win 4 losses. Sweetwater had the only win, vs Telico. Polk will be undefeated in conference play with everyone else fighting for second. At this point I would pick Sweetwater as 2. Meigs lost to a team they beat soundly last year, so they are not improved as posted. Sequoyah lost again after much pre-season hype. Central lost to a better team. My prediction: Polk will be the only team in the conference with a winning record.

So Meigs lost to a team they beat last year, and that means that Meigs have not improved! Ya that makes sense!lol Let be realistic and look at the factors ! 1)first game 2)new system 3)new coach . As far as the rest of your post, lets look at it 1) Sweetwater beat tellico--verdict is still out. 2) Polk lost to a team they beat soundly last year(so according to you they are not improved as posted)lol 3)Sequoah lost--so what (it was the first game) that does not mean they are not better than last year 4)Central lost to a MC team that is "down a little over last year" (but according to you that means central is still good! My point is, the only thing that week 0 means is: when it comes to teen age boys -- you dont know what is going to happen from week to week!

  4. So what is your assessment 'allwaysright'? What happened against Greenback?

Deer in the headlight!! Simple did not execute.About the only thing we did right was run the ball(decent).Still getting people to learn the new system and the details that make it work.As far as beating them last year vs this year---not even close. The qb they got from alcoa --- he can account for 75% of their off.I hope that the boys learned from the loss. Now they can get up dust themselves off and respond. The important thing is it was not a district game.

  5. OK here is a much more likely way that it will finish up.

    1. Polk

    2. Sweetwater, 3.McMinn Central

    4. Sequoyah, 5. Meigs Co.

Subject to change, cause most teams are capable of beating the other this year but as of now after 1st week I have it this way.

Allwaysright time to change your name, lol.

Ya thats it, after one week--its set in stone!lol

  6. they didnt fair to well, look slow, big lineman that are physical but we were the better team by far.You have major QB trouble i think he only hit one of your recievers with the ball barely,he did complete one to us though.looks like another long year for the cats.sorry!

Now thats class -- call out a 17 year old kid for the loss. Actually i saw 3 completed and three dropped. They are all good kids and togther they will rebound.and 4(i think) incomplete.

  7. We did not execute well at all. Its hard to complete a pass when people run the wrong routes and dont run full speed. We had two deep passes dropped that could have made a big difference. As a team we did not execute well, as a team i hope they can fix the problems. Greenback played a good game. good luck to them the rest of the season.

  8. I been sitting here watching you post on Polk's site.. Let me fill you in on a few details 1st. You talk about Insanity....In the last 10 years Polk's Ole slow team has owned Meigs. You all have 1 win in 10 years against Polk..2nd They coach there Athletes to the strength of there players, and I might add it works. I promise you if they ever get kids with 4.4 speed they will coach them to there strenghts and do other things. Year in and year out Polk is near or at the top in the region you know so much about coaching you should go help Meigs win more than 5 or 6 games a year, and if Bradley County is always "cellar Dwellers" why dont Meigs play them.So when you post something make sure you know the facts before you run off at the mouth.Oh yea look back at all the teams Polk has played with DIV 1 players and WON the way you kill speed is stand them up and call roll.I hope you learned something from this post you can Go coach Meigs up....

Dont get your panties in a bunch. i have watched polk for many years--what they do they do well. everybody knows that. I would like to see them defend the spread a little better--so they can go further in the play-offs.(ie.loudon last year). Can you not discuss the facts without getting mad.And i didnt call bradley celler dwellers---one of your big red nation did.Relax and enjoy high school football!it shoudnt be that serious!

  9. 1. Polk

    2. McMinn Central

    3. Sweetwater or Meigs?

    4. Sweetwater or Meigs

    5. Sequoyah

McMinn Central graduated some very good players, but they still have a few very good ones left. I've watched Meigs and Central both in scrimmages, and Central looks a little quicker and stronger at more positions than Meigs does.

I don't know much about Sweetwater, but they were pretty stout last season the best I remember, so while they may not be as good as last season I think they'll drop less than Meigs will climb......but still hoping the Tigers can improve enough to claim 3rd place.

The District overall is even weaker than it was last season.

interesting?I see mc being dead last in the district.I guess we will know more as the season goes on.
  10. Meigs has improved considerably just by coaching alone!!!! Though I'm a fan of the Tigers, I'm realistic, too, though. If Meigs finishes in second place, it will be one weak district. As of right now, from what I've seen thus far, I think finishing 3rd would be a great accomplishment for this group. If the staff commits to staying, I do think the Tigers will be very strong district contenders again - starting with next season.

Who are you picking for second and why??

  11. red fans dont get too pumped about beating bradley. year in and year out they are cellar dwellers in their district. with that said im going to go polk by 4.

    Bears 16

    Wildcats 20

How much did you beat those "cellat dwellers" by last year? You won the game. But it wasnt by much.Yes Polk is a smaller div. but you have more kids on the side line than they do. Good luck to both teams

  12. Following this thought. Did Meigs win any scrimmages this summer? Thought I read in the paper that they were beaten by Midway, Coalfield and Rockwood. They held a Loudon team that played the night before and more than disinterested in playing Meigs County. Scrimmages and jamborees are over. Meigs should be favored to beat a single A school. Playing at the NATION favors the Cherokees. Coach Ridge will give his guys a chance at home.

Dang, there will be alot of black, orange and white in Greenback Friday. The Tigers always have great looking unis, too.

I dont look at a, aa or aaa any differently there are good teams in all div.. I always look at scrimmages as a chance to learn where you are and are not.not to win or lose them. I think loudon underestimated meigs , not so much disenterested , or they would have not started with the varsity o . Oh well like you said , scrimmages and jamborees are over. Lets get this season started.

  13. SLOW???? Polk county has always been slow but they steadily win 6,7,8,9 ball games consistantly so i'd much rather have slow polk players then anybody elses fast players. But I understand that you need speed to compete in the playoffs and yes polk usually don't have alot team speed but I do think we have enough speed for the playoffs this year. So watch out for #'s 12,22,24,38,21,and 20.

I just quinched your thirst ;)

The defination of insanity: to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result!

  14. I do not think we are better than Loudon. We are small on the line but I thought we played Coalfield well during the scrimmage. If we can get our tackle back we should be ok. Not sure what Meigs has at the skill positions either. I have heard there line is huge.

Our kids are still learning the new system every day. Our line is big and physical and fast.Sounds like it will be a good game.

  15. funny how it could be a rough year for central but they could finish second in the district. they lost a lot, but meigs, seq, and sweetwater are NOT any better than central right now.

Dont get me wrong, I was refering to this year compared to the last couple. They are tallented , but young. If they finish second in the district this year(I will buy you a steak dinner) I have seen all of these teams in action this year and seq., meigs, and sweetwater are better(in my opinion).

  16. I will bet a hundred dollars that polk will bust at least one run of 30 or more against every team in the district this year. and when no one is within in ten yards of #22 or #12 when they cross the goal line i would love to hear the opposing fans begin to chant SLOOOWWWWWWW.

I will agree that lee #22 is quick, and Allen # 12 is no turtle either, but I think your going to loose the hundred. And i meant that compared to last years team, they were slower. Not bad, but slower.I am refering to overall the whole team.Dont get me wrong the Lee kid is a blast to watch, and Allen can be a beast with the ball.
