  1. What are everyones thoughts on this game? CPA is a very well balanced and disciplined ball club. CPA also looks to be a fairly deep ball club. On the other hand Obion is not a deep ball club playing 6 maybe 7 players... I look for this to be a close one if OC can stay out of foul trouble. Goodman staying in the game is a must for Obion to come away with the title. OC by 4....

  2. I to watched every game today...CPA is the real deal, those girls can play... I was far from impressed with livingston...they looked very slow and sloppy.... Congrats to stone memorial but they will have a tough time with occhs...look for CPA and Obion to meet up in the big game on Saturday

  3. Central has some freshmen starting who weren't there last year, so hopefully they'll adjust to playing on the big stage. Besides Jenna graduating from last season's team there are also two guards gone from last season's state champion team.

Several fans and players from past state champion teams returning to defend their crown tell me it's extremely hard to repeat since you're put squarely on a pedestal that every team wants to know off.

Obion may be the team this year, but looking at the other AA teams I don't really see a weak one.

Massengil is going to have her hands full with Goodman... If Wright and Goodman can stay out of foul trouble I say OC by 15+....If one of these two have to sit for a significant amount of time itll be a close one.

  4. That's impressive. Tell me about her. Class? Other stats this whole season. Why do you think she didn't make the 3 Finalists? Do you think she deserved it this year?

Brandi is a Junior at Obion County Central, Season 18ppg 16rpg 4bpg... Tournament play 25ppg 16rpg 7bpg... I defintely think she should have been a finalist, but that's my opinion. The reason she isn't a finalist is probably the mere fact of publicity. They didn't make it to state last year, so many people in the media haven't seen her play. If the team happens to make it to state I don't think you will be disappointed in her performance. Good luck to all the finalist, but this kid is special.

  5. To back this post up the Union City Messenger stated the other night that Goodman was averaging 18 points and 16 rebounds per game. I think a player with these stats should have at least gotten nominated. But that's just me.

and 4 blocks per game, in an average of about 2.5 quarters per game due to large margin of victory. Her stat line in competitive games, probably more around the 25ppg 20rpg. She is being recruited by D1 schools Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Cincinatti, Indiana. There is also a rumor that she has a visit to Kentucky in the near future.

  6. Eh, I don't agree. Covington is well coached and athletic, no doubt. I don't see them advancing past regionals. Only 2 teams can advance and I believe those 2 teams will be Dyersburg and Obion Co. And from there, I still say Obion Co. and Memphis Manassas advance to the state tournaments to represent the west side of the state.

As stated before, watch out for covington. They beat dyersburg and gave the lady rebels all they wanted in the district championship. Now with dyersburg and occhs on the same side of the region bracket it really throws a wrinkle into everyones predictions. I agree that It will be hard for any of the teams to beat Manassas at their place, but with Covington playing thier best ball of the year, they should not be ruled out.

  7. Actually, I saw Calamity this past summer in front of about 60-70 college coaches in Franklin. I'm pretty sure Calamity was near 100% on that day. I'm not saying Calamity isn't good, because she's VERY good and will play college ball. I'm not bashing Calamity in my post because I love to watch her play, I just don't think she's as good as Brandi Goodman from OC. Goodman is getting a few SEC looks right now as a Junior if that might explain how good Goodman is.

She is also getting looks from several schools in the big east and big 12. Brandi surpassed both the 1000 point and 1000 rebound milestone in the fall semseter of her Junior year, this season, and has also recorded over 100 blocks in each season at Obion County Central.

  8. I agree that Calmaity Jane Coley from Macon County is very good, you should check out her stats and she does a lot of this in two or three quarters because Coach Beam doesn't like to run up the score. It would be ashame for her not to get recogized because of the lack of coverage by local big paper "Tennessean".

The same goes for Brandi Goodman, she has played 1 half of basketball in most of the games this season. She still averages 18-19 pts, 16rbs, and 3 blocks a game. Her stat line against the better teams like dyersburg who is also ranked in the state are amazing, she is definitely a top canidate. Not to mention that she very well be one of the hardest working kids in the state to go along with a 3.9 GPA

  9. The game should have been alot worse than what it was....Gilliam and Smith both picked up 2 fouls in the first quarter and gilliam picked up his 3rd in the 2nd and saw very little playing time in the first half....Smith came out hot scoring OC's first 8 or so points. Boucher and Harner also picked up 2 fouls and saw little time in the first half...the refs called very touchy fouls...Gilliam had only 4 points at half and only played around 2 or 3 mins in the third....And in the last 3 mins or so gilliam hit 4 threes in a row and went coast to coast twice to give oc a big lead and wrap things up....But it wasnt a good effort by oc by far....look for them to come out and get after gosnell on tuesday since they stole one from us last year....
