We will see. If your defense is struggling with the run like one of your posters has already said then I like our chances. It's like a trade off.

We struggle with the pass, which is nothing new here and if you struggle with the run ...... I like our chances. The thing is that we won't know until Friday night. I agree that it won't be like it was last year. I also think that some people will be surprised

Hard to tell if Mayfield struggled with the run in a controlled scrimmage. But it wasnt hard to tell that the passing game will be good. Mayfield by the 3 plus td's.

Do we have some tropical weather coming in? Thanks for letting us know. I know you law enforcement guys get a heads up on those type of things. Now I have heard that there are Tornado Warnings being issued already, so I can see WHY you are talking about this topical storm business. I just want to ask you one question. How are you going to throw the ball,if you can't get your offense on the field? Just saying

You said that last year. This game might not be 41-0. But UC aint gonna win.

You either have not seen much football, or need to get out of rural western kentucky if the kid from Danville was the fastest you have seen in person.  Watched the Danville/Mayfield game online, and Danville just looked about average, Mayfield looked terrible.  The Danville kid wouldnt even be in the top 100 fastest high school football players ive seen.  The mayfield defense got sucked in on that reverse, and all over pursued the wrong direction, and nobody stayed home to cut him off coming the other way.  I could have run that in for a score.  The team that showed up in that game wouldnt have beat Union City.  Did think the one TD that Danville got near the end of half was bogus though, worst call i ever sawed.  I expect a good game between Mayfield, and Union City this year.  I could see it going either way.

    Go either way? Hahahaha.

UC might as well turn in their pads, and helmets when the regular season is over, cause they ain't winning a gold ball.  I doubt they are even a top ten team in 2a.  41-0 to a 2a kentucky team that won't even make it out of the semifinals if they even get that far.  Embarrased to be from Tennessee.

    Hahaha.

    The village idiot speaks.

After Mayfield beats UC next season, even worse, that will be the last game for 20 or 30 years

mysonisorwas55 or whatever the heck your name is.  wow, you the most trash talkin' dude since coacht was formed.  i'm sure you are a 12 - 14 year old or some bench player daddy who is one of those who play's their wanta' be pro dad type dad.  I'm sure you are at all of the practices, film watching, trying to send tapes out about your son, yourself or whatever.  listen up cool dude, ive been to your stadium probably over 40 times in my life, you want to talk old and outdated....lol.  well, yes, your cardinals are a great program, we all in U C give your team that respect but man, the kid in you has shined well.  I think you forgot to learn or have not gotten to the age yet to actually know what respect is.  There is one thing I will say about my ( U C ) team, you won't beat us by 3 T D's, your team will know they have been in a real game the first game of the year.  I know of coach morris, know his brother and if you are a player, a former player or a players dad, your son would run laps if he knew your words are of such.  a program gets to the top by winning and giving others respect.  your the kind of fan that gives your program a slap in the face and dropped a notch.  I know 98% of the Mayfield fans aren't like you.  we have those kid of fans also, every team does.  we all want our team to win but COME ON MAN, go to school and learn what respect is.  I sure would hate to have you as a employee or a team mate or play for me etc...  til tomorrow night, your eye will glow when you see what a real stadium looks like, national high school field of the year more than once as of matter of fact by Scott's turf.  In the company of Green bay and a couple other NFL fields.  so, rock on dude, continue to mix your koolaid, your fellow fans on here are even bashing you.  til the light turn on Friday night, go read a book on respect, learn the definition.  Go Tornadoes.

I'm not a fan of 55 and his antics but I think Mayfield has a fine stadium , it's a great place to watch a game. Lots of tailgating right near the west goalpost. You can see all the action up high in War Memorial . There is no track so it looks like your looking right down on it. I've been to tons of high school stadiums and I think WM is at the top of the list to watch a high school game.

Mayfield by a couple of scores.

After seeing some recent rankings.  Union City picked the perfect time to get Mayfield.  Mayfield has been ranked #1, or #2 every year for close to a decade it seems.  The new rankings on a certain Kentucky site has Mayfield at 5th in 2a.  Union City seems to be #1 by the sources I've seen on here.  We all know Tennessee is stronger, I would take the best few teams every year from TN over the best few from kentucky in the same class, so I have a hard time believing the 5th ranked 2a team in kentucky can go on the road to the number 1 2a team in Tennessee, and keep it close.  If Mayfield was #1, and UC #5 I'd say it was about even.  Since its not some random website, but 1 made up of kentucky experts on their teams, I have to think they would know their teams, and they don't believe this is as strong of a Mayfield team as the ones of late. With this new info I think Union City in a rout.  I'll say 45-10 Union City, with Mayfield lone TD coming late against UC jv.  I'll say it's 45-3 early in the 4th when UC starts letting up, and subbing.

Lets see... Mayfield is a 58 pt favorite against Greenfield.

Plus you being from Greenfield solidifies you as someone who probably knows very little about high school football.

Now if you talking about growing corn or who had the best tractor in the county....people might listen to you.

I'm a little jealous of UC.  Wish we could have got the Cardinals on Greenfields schedule.  We are 2-0 against Mayfield.  This Will be my last post no sense in arguing over a 1 sided game.  My advice is Mayfield fans save your gas money, and stay home.  I hear wpsd will air it so you can save yourself a trip, and watch it on tv that way you can turn it to walker texas ranger, or something when you get sick to your stomach cause you don't like what your seeing.  If you have kids I wouldn't even put the tv on that channel, cause a bloodbath like that ain't rated pg.  UC fans enjoy this game, I was going to attend, but I think I'll go watch us beat Fulton City.

I guess you prove you can't get a good education in Tennessee.

Not pot stirring.  Mumbles you confirmed that your own states website has y'all at 5th in class 2a.  Strong year or not I'll take whatever class, and ranking any year from TN you want by 14 over the same class, and ranking from Ky.  Example I'd take the 3rd rank 3a team from TN any year over the 3rd rank 3a KY team by 14 and so on with every equal ranking and any class, and the majority of the time I'd win.  In this case Its worse.  I'd take UC by 14 over Danville your states equivalent number 1.  With Mayfield being fifth i say UC covers Mayfield by 30 without sweating.  I've always read, and only started posting because this matchup really interested me, but after seeing Mayfield is down for their standards I'm calling it like I see it a blow out.  If UC the number 1 TN team loses to the number 5 KY team I'll be embarassed, and all of TN ought to be.  I honestly see no reason to even follow this game or discuss it further cause its a foregone conclusion.  This will be a clinic on how to whip a team.

All I can say is.... you're delusional

Right now on unapproved website, Mayfield is favored by 7 on a neutral field. If you read on that website that you are referring too, the consensus is that class 2A is the strongest class in the state.

I also know you are here just to stir the pot.

I  say Mayfield will win this game by a couple of scores.... no pot stirring either.

1980 if you are referring to that post where I was wishing LC good luck,  then that's what I was doing.  Wishing a former team good luck.

Now as to your question about why I think UC will beat the Cards let me flip it back to you.  What makes you think we won't beat Mayfield?  Your tradition is a great one and you have my utmost respect.  Well we have a great tradition as well and we have a reputation of being very physical and competitive.  We played a lot of cupcake teams over the last few years but we have also played some very good teams and we are way ahead in the win category.  So let me sum it up for you.  My Tornadoes will keep you out of the endzone by keeping the ball for long periods of time and we will force you to have to score quickly.  In doing this I believe it creates an atmosphere for mistakes.  If our defense can get 2 stops and a turnover or two I think we win. That's all I have to say about that.

    That is the recipe.

But, if UC can't move the ball as well as they expect, I see a long night if Mayfield was to jump out on them. I believe Mayfield has the capability to come back from a couple of scores while I'm not as sure about that with UC.

We will throw the ball some.  I don't want to get into tendencies about when and how often but we will toss it around just enough to keep the defense honest.  As far as the running game. ...if Mayfield can stop it they will be the first to do so.  That's all I have to say about that.

Any team can be stopped and that includes Mayfield. But in this matchup being able to mostly concentrate on stopping the run makes it easier on the Cards. If Mayfield defeats UC this year and next, will UC stop the series?

  12. 3 hours ago, BigSwo said:

I'm not gonna be throwing out a score because honestly I think this is anybody's game.  Speed versus ball control. .....I give the edge to the team that can limit turnovers and stupid penalties.  UC will have long sustained drives that eat away the clock and force the Cardinals to have to score quick.  I'm sure they can do that but I think this will cause the opportunity for mistakes.  If it's close in the 4th quarter, I like my Tornadoes.  If we get behind by 2 or 3 scores then Mayfield comes away with the win.  I know this post sounds very simple and doesn't break from the norm. But that's all I have

Best response I've seen so far from a UC fan. And It's about what I think.

All the respect in the world for Union City and Mayfield. But you can't honestly compare how you have done in scrimmages against Milan to what you might do in a real game against UC. I openly admit that we have taken some lumps against Mayfield in scrimmages. But we do against most people. Having played for Morris I can tell you he doesn't care one bit about the score in a scrimmage. It is all about getting multiple players action in multiple positions. Nothing more.

The annual Mayfield/Milan scrimmage is just a barometer of how the teams stand at the point in preseason. I usually say if we compete against Milan we're gonna have a good year because Milan is well coached and has tough players.

About UC, I say if Mayfield gets qb play, I like their chances alot. Speed is everywhere, it's just getting them the ball in the right places.

If you want to see Mayfield past scores go to riherds scoreboard goes back quite a few years.  I'll give some info on some of these teams these bottomfeeders feast off of every year.  Ft Campbell=horrible only wins 2 or 3 games a year.  Webster County the same maybe worse.  Ballard usually win about 5 games and get beat in 2nd round I'd call them average at best. Marshall county below average as well win about 4 games and beat 1st round.  Paducah Tilghman average team win about 7 and make it to about 3rd round.  McCracken county above average but not great usually win 8 or 9 over bad competition then get beat 1st round, by the way they beat Mayfield 2 out of the last 3, and Mayfield barely won the other 1.  Graves average win around 7 or so and make it a couple rounds except 1 fluke runner up year.  Caldwell county above average they win most of the regular season games and are overhyped By wpsd then get beat down in 3rd round they underachieve alot, but has beat Mayfield a number of times the last 10 years.  Murray already said about average run heavy team never beats mayfield but usually give them fits and keeps it close.  They have played a team named Corbin but they are not local know nothing about them, but they have had a good record and made it to semis.  Mayfield beat them last 2 years, but they where close especially last year Mayfield won by 1 point.  I don't see a team on that schedule the last few years that UC wouldn't beat by 20.  I'd say mayfield has played 3 teams above average a year.  That is McCracken County, Caldwell County, and Corbin.  None of them would be labeled great teams, and 2 of them Mccracken, and Caldwell have been beating Mayfield.  Folks don't believe the hype on Mayfield.

The more you talk...the more you prove your ignorance.

Mumbles, all of that has been tried before.  Spread UC out and out athlete our defense.  I'm not saying it can't happen, because last year Dresden showed that it can happen.  However Dresden would have beaten the 2A champ and I believe that team would competed for the 3A title.  I refer you to the 2009 Championship game between UC and South Pittsburgh.  That "spread em out" tactic. ......seldom works against our defense.  It's been tried and tried.  I'm looking forward to a great game.

It should be a great game, Mayfield has had success against UC before. I'm sure it has been tried before against UC and the great majority of the time it doesn't work. However, Mayfield is a different animal than most. Mayfield has tremendous amount of speed for a small school and they are very well coached.
