  1. I'm not 100% sure, but I heard today that #44 Logan McKinney will miss the York game, but will PROBABLY be ready for the playoffs. :thumb:

I hope this is the case,,,,,,

Termite, you going to any games this week, or do you know of any? I might go to one if theres a good one not to far away. I went to the White House/Macon game last week. Needless to say, I was kinda disappointed...

  2. They were doing really well in the eye, and I thought Swaim would've ran the ball more.

They move the ball downfield, and then abandon what got them there.

Smith can throw the ball, but the all the hitch passes won't work as well against a well disciplined team like SC.

That is one thing I believe they run too much is the hitch. It got them about 10-15 yards on one play that I can remember on a missed tackle, but other than that, not much. I agree 100% that Chaz can throw the ball. Playcalling had a lot to do with it IMO. But neither offense was going in the first half.

  3. I don't know if I was impressed with SC's D or not impressed with Gville choice of offensive formations and plays.

However, SC's D stopped them when they had too.

You're right. It just seemed like G-villes O never got going. They had 3-4 good runs, and one long pass play. Probably a combination of both.

  4. I really don't know what to think of this game. Both teams are coming off good warm up games. G-ville over Westy, 34-0... Pretty impressive win. Smith Co. over Cheatham Co., 27-7... Well, I expected it to be at least a little more, but a win is a win. I didnt go to either game, but I listened to the Smith game. Maybe Cheatham is better than last year, maybe not... Bottom line is we have to play better this Friday. Of course the ideal season is to play better every game, so that you are playing your best football during the playoffs. Does that always happen? Of course not. Just look at SC last season. Played terrible at G-ville, who IMO was the better team that night, but we still got the win. Couple weeks later put up a goose egg against a not very good westmoreland team. Turned around and beat Dekalb and White House. Then back to back losses with Cannon and York. But I believe we were playing our best football during the playoffs. I think a lot of that G-ville game last year was due to lack of focus on our side. Not saying G-ville didn't play good, because they played awesome, like I said probably the best team IMO. But just like Termite said a while ago, whoever makes those 3 or 4 plays a game wins the game. Smith did just that last year... As always, last year is last year. I just hope we can do it again this year, but I still don't know what to think of our team or G-ville's team yet. However, I will know Friday. The only thing I do know is it will be a great game to watch, and I can't wait. :hungry:

  5. It looked wide open to me. They were using four different QB's, four different TB'S and four different FB's. It was hard to tell the difference in most of them. One thing for sure - the Owls will be young.

Who was the fourth QB? (Scurlock, Butler, Winningham, ...?) And the TBs and FBs, I know Wakefield, Frazier, Pinson, Holder, and Sapp. Is Manning getting work, or any other freshmen? Thanks.

  6. Well, what's the big surprise.

It's been long enough. fill the rest of us in.

Yeah, seriously. I've been trying to think about what in the world could make that much of a difference. I mean, if we did end up getting some transfer from somewhere that is an outstanding athlete, could it make that much of a difference to get us into the title game? Of course, it may have nothing to do with a transfer because I'm sure somebody would of heard something by now. I hope I'm dead wrong, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up on this.

  7. carthage owls are about to gain a whole lot of momentum here in the next 48 hours. biggest break for the owls football program in the last 30 to 40 years. things are going to be looking up on thurs. this could be the first step in the owls becoming a true post season power...

I hope this is not a big letdown. Will somebody post something when whatever is supposed to happen happens? Whatever it is, I wish it would have happened a year earlier. Lol

  8. Moose was waking up the neighborhood at 7:00 this morning running those boys. Good thing I was already awake. They'll, at the least, be in shape.

:thumb: This is the year of the Tiger.

I hope it is for G-ville. They sure have the talent to be great and make history. I wish them the very best of luck next year. I imagine "The Hole" will be a packed house come week 1. I expect a great game, even better than last year. Also, does Gordonsville play a week 0 game, or is Smith their first game? Hopefully, we won't end that streak just yet lol, but you never know. I'm sure everybody on the other side of the river knows this, but all roads lead through South Pitt, and I think you can do it this year. Good luck. :thumb:

  9. Smith County won two more games last week. Jackson County on Wednsday and Trousdale on Thursday. They are now 15-2 overall. We have two very crucial games Monday and Tuesday as that will be the district championship. Smith County will have to sweep Upperman to be champions. If they split, Upperman gets it with Smith in second, and I think Dekalb in third. And if Upperman sweeps, they will be first, Dekalb second, and Smith third with a play-in game. So pretty much, Smith and Upperman both control their own destiny. It will be at Smith on Monday, and at Upperman on Tuesday. Should be two great games.
