I think what's really ridiculous is people on a Message board who get uptight over a little talking on a message board . Guess what , that's what message boards are for , I guess it never occurred to you that a lot of talking that goes on here is just for fun . I despise censorship , that's not what freedom is all about , I didn't agree with what you said here , but I totally believe in your right to say it .... and guess what?? I don't have to agree with it , I have that right to disagree .

Pep I don't really care what you say. No one is trying to censor. Just offering an opinion.

    Weaklink... What?

  2. One of you Maryville dudes come back on here and tell me more about the spying and signal stealing stuff mentioned earlier

When MHS played at Bearden there was talk that Bearden was attempting to steal signals. I do not know if it is true.

Regardless, I'm rooting for DB in this one. I'd like to see a round 3 matchup between the Indians and Rebels.

Also agree with the last sentence in STARPOWER's post back a few pages... Some MHS fans on here take every perceived slight against Maryville personally. It's a little ridiculous. People are allowed to have opinions about Maryville.

Good for the Foreman kid getting a great education paid for. Swafford going anywhere?

  3. Many believe MHS just need a baseball field to practice on. Lots of folks I've talked to see nothing wrong with playiing the games at the nice facility at Maryville College. Heck, it's lots cheaper than keeping their own game field up. A nice "baseball" practice field would be a great addition. A full time baseball "manager" could be a plus.

It's hard to imagine the current adminstration pouring lots of money in a sport that generates so little revenue. I'd love to see a field, but the donor money would have to really step up, IMO.

All valid points. MC is very nice facility. I just wonder how long the college will let them use.

I try to make to few games a year, as baseball is my favorite sport... Some of you might be surprised, it's usualky a very good atmosphere, especially when a particular West Knoxville school rolls in

  4. It might be a shock for those who did not attend MHS to find out that sports other than football are offered at the high school. In fact, I hear some of those programs might have championships of their own.

As far as the baseball talk, I think the MHS program needs a head coach who is with the team full time. Gaylor has done a good job these last few years, but his attention is divided. The hitting facility they have is very nice and by far the best of its kind in the county. They just need their own field. William Blount, Heritage, and Alcoa all have great baseball fields. No reason MHS shouldn't.

  5. I was at the game and couldnt be more proud of my West Rebels...I know a loss is a loss but I think thats the best West has played against Maryville since the 2007 playoffs. If West can play like that the rest of their schedule but shore up the defense and special teams..I see no reason finishing up 9-1 this year and finally getting the Farragut monkey off our back and beating those guys.

Question for Maryville fans and I'm not trolling by any means I just want to know what you thought of our team last night compared to Alcoa and other good teams you have faced the last couple of years and if we earned your respect last night. I respect the Maryville program and I believe George Quarles is the best coach in Tennessee bar none. Good Luck the rest of the year and hopefully both teams can bring home the State Championships in 5A and 6A...

    Go West!

Cummings has done a great job up there... he's been there, what, 12 years? And West keeps getting better and better. I think they could become THE team in Knox County over the next few.

  6. Bottum line we have been blessed with greats players and coaches...And they're all my favorites!!!.... :thumb:

I agree. Just something to discuss until August :thumb:

  7. You have got to be kidding me. Riverdale had no chance of winning that game. Get over it.

It will be interesting to see what team GQ produces. That secondary was the best in MHS history. I was dead set on the 2007 team (class of '08:Douglas, Shiver, Burnette, and Clendenon) being the best ever, but after Saturday I believe this group was the best as a whole. 2007 had better players but 2012 played better together.

I think you mentioned that you were c/o 2010 on the other thread, so I can understand this. But if you had seen the 2002, 1998, or even 2005 Rebel squads in action, you might be singing a different tune.

All three of those teams were tremendously dominant. As good as 2002 was, they could have been even better. It's scary to think about - their top QB (Rouse) missed the whole year after getting hurt in a scrimmage and TJ Brock was either kicked out/left school (can't remember now, getting old). And they still ran through the state.

2011 and 2007 were very, very good teams, but those 3 were just a cut above.

  8. After watching Maryville play twice now, I have to say that Riverdale may have something to say about that next year. If Riverdale would have had Woodruff at QB I think that outcome would have been much different. They are returning almost all there starting lineup next year and cant help but feel they will be highly motivated..

    No, it wouldn't have.

  9. I don't call East TN football pitiful. I do say that when hillbilly ball meets speed ball their are noticeable differences.

I noticed a few things, actually.

    A) Blackman never gets far enough to see Maryville.

    B) "Hillbilly" (can we get a definition?) ball wins when it goes against Rutherford County.

    C) they're/there/their

Why am I even arguing, though? Maryville could beat Rutherford County schools 27 straight times, and we'd still be hearing the same things.

  10. Maryville fans just need to realize that none of those teams/fans will ever respect the Rebels. No matter how many times Maryville kicks the dog out of the best team from the best district in the country, they will never, ever respect or give Maryville their due.

Who cares, though? It's just the way it is, and the way it will always be. We'll be arguing about the same thing next year.

Personally, I'll take gold balls over playing in the best district in the country.

  11. On the second part you wrote about, having that size of school with great players is what North has a shot to do if they get a large amount of top players.Greeneville is that kind of school in a bigger classifcation, but they will be pushed every year by teams like Fulton,Redbank and the Nashville area teams. They just need to get what they can, while everything is perfectly lined up.Nomatter the class your in,your team has to bring it every week in the playoffs. That goes for Maryville just as well. They have only got one championship in the last three trys and everything has been perfectly set up for them.

    ?

  12. I disagree. For years, Maryville played sub par William Blount and Heritage teams in non district games and said it was for "community" reasons. Sevier Co. would play Seymour for the same reason . A mute point now of course, but for years this occurred .

Those are called "rivals." Are you familiar with the term?

  13. Don't like looking ahead for obvious reasons , but this is not true , I'd rather play you guys with your QB healthy ... 7AAA or local team = no brainer . :thumb:

Like pep, I don't want to look ahead, but I'll go ahead and predict that Oak Ridge beats Riverdale/Blackman and advances to the semis.
