Don't count out Marshall County. Returning a lot of players on Offense and defense.

I will agree.  Osteen and MC always seem to find those kids that continuously get them to the playoffs.  I believe it was just 2 years ago that they really did not have a great regular season but still ended up in the 2nd round of the playoffs, pretty close to making the 3rd round.

I agree we will still be young

Young, I believe, in this situation will be a good thing. I know they earned some experience last season playing the whole year but we also get a few more years out of the same players that are gaining more and more experience with every start.

  3. I feel that with a young team getting ample experience this past year, the 2020 Bulldawgs will be better than what they were this past season.  I look for them to make the jump back up to winning more ballgames as they have in past seasons and contend for the region championship once again.

  4. What would you all suggest as a solution? Take reducing the amount of classifications off the table.

Here is what I would propose: take for instance, Whitwell.  Yes, they are a 2-8 team that was the #4 seed in their region.  How about, if you are ranked in the top 4 in your region but you do not have let's say 4 or 5 wins, minimum, then you miss the playoffs.  The team in which you would have played gets a bye week.  I know giving bye weeks in the playoffs doesn't really do anything for the opponent that is missing out on the gate that week.

  5. I have seen Cornersville play against a lot more big QB's with "dangerous arms" this year than I have ever in the past.  I also feel that by having played these QB's that this will only bode well for the Dawgs because not a lot of them done a lot of damage during the games until it was close to the end and that was all that they had to do to get back into these games.  Good luck to both teams, not so much for Collinwood, but hope for an injury free game for both teams.  Go Dawgs!

I don't have a lot of faith in Sonny Moore this year. There are a couple of teams he can't seem to put in the proper class. They were early in the season but the last 4 weeks no. As an example in the 1A listings you posted Columbia Academy is in Division II Class A. If you look at the overall division 1 1A rankings you also find Trinity Christian Academy listed. They are also D 2 class A. If they can't get the right teams in the right class, can you put a lot of stock in the rankings that they produce?

You beat me to it!  The first thing that popped out in this ranking was that Columbia Academy was ranked in 1A knowing they haven't been in 1A in forever.

I believe it was 10 penalties called against MC. Seems low but that is what WJJM said after the game.

When you say called, you mean actually thrown flags or the ones that accepted by Giles County?  I, like yourself, think that that number is low.  It almost felt like on every play there was a flag flying.

  8. I will say, that as a casual fan, that Cornersville has faced teams the last couple of weeks that have really liked throwing the ball down the field as well as the short routes.  I feel that this will only benefit them this week against a team, as I am hearing, that likes to throw the ball.  I feel that Randolph will have his players ready.  But with that said, good luck to both teams, more for the Bulldogs of course, and here's to an injury free game for both as well.

The Dawgs just need to build on the momentum from the 2nd half. I feel this game will come down to the wire and be a great game. Not going to predict a winner or loser in this one. I just want to see a good, clean, mistake free football game and best of luck to both teams.

I will say if they can take care of the ball then who knows what will happen.  I know for certain that if the turnovers didn't happen last weekend the outcome would have been different.  I mean this isn't Hawaii that played Arizona this past Saturday night having 6 turnovers and still winning, lol.  It is a little bit different with these smaller schools.

The drop in talent hurts the small schools so in my opinion cornersville and waverly are kinda in the same boat. You have the right to disagree. I’m not challenging that but are you saying y’all have the same skill level as you did last year? If so then I apologize and you guys have more trouble than just being down some players. If you don’t have the talent level you did last yr then you can take the best coach in the world and not win a game. I think you could look at it kinda like the Memphis teams. All the talent in the world but some of the teams lack discipline, leadership, role models, stability and they hardly win a game. Then you take a team like let’s say Union city, or Lewis county I could name more. Those teams don’t have all the talent and athleticism but can compete day in and day out!  So I’m kinda confused with your response.

I think what he is saying is yes Cornersville did lose a lot of talent last year but there is plenty of talent that has taken over for those guys.  I will agree that it is hard for a small school to replace 3, 4, or even 5 players that made the all-state team but I believe, my honest opinion, that this team can compete and be competitive each and every week.  I feel that since most of these guys did not play a full game last year that they aren't used to being around that long playing.  They got that full game in last week and have a sense of what goes on for 4 full quarters.  The coach will get these guys ready.  Randolph knows what he is doing so he will right the ship and have these kids playing to the best of their abilities.

  11. I am really hoping that since last week was most of the starters from Cornersville's first start (and full game) that they will knock off the rust of them not playing on a weekly basis and it will give them that sense of what a full game is all about.  They have the talent to continue to do good things.  I just hope that they realize that they have this potential and it lights a fire underneath them so they can go out and be competitive on that weekly basis.  It will kind of continue what was started a few years ago when Randolph took over the Bulldog program.
