  1. Hello everyone, since the rock has made a return to the T, I guess I can put in my $.02.  Over the past 12 years the CATS have had a losing record when having to travel east of Cookeville 1-4 in the playoffs.  They have a very good record when the east comes to the middle. Not sure if its the mountains or the bus lag, but traveling to the east has no been good for us.  Will this year be any different?  I'm hearing Meigs QB will run all over GC.  I have only seen the CATS play twice this year and both games were snooze fest. I know we played good teams earlier this year, but the CATS haven't seen good teams since then. OC will definitely have the boys prepared it will be up to them to execute the plan.  Everyone travel safe and the CATS will bring a crowd and 20 of them are coaches.  GO CATS!!!

Top 3 Local Eateries for visiting fans:

Hickory House -- right beside the stadium. many park there and walk over to the stadium. there is even a special entrance gate to buy tickets near the restaurant. a Pulaski staple. Terrific meat-and-three spot, but also has full menu.

Kitchen 218 -- hip new restaurant in town. Burgers, pizza and adult beverages. Plenty of TVs and bar space/seating. just off of the Pulaski square. about a mile from the stadium.

Southern Table -- directly across the street from Kitchen 218. southern upscale dining. really nice menu.

Safe travels heading over to The Brickyard on Friday night.

Once again cousin Neely you are spot on, but I have to give a plug to Nick's Grill and Sarge's Shack just before you pass under Interstate 65 on Hwy 64 Bypass. Nicks is a sandwich shop with handcrafted burgers and more(I get the Rueben) and Sarge's is more of a steakhouse. IMO none of the 5 will disappoint.

Now what about some footbaw?  I haven't seen a game all year, I get the "top of the pressbox" recap.  GC sounds strong as usual with many weapons and the Kicker being a really good one. I know from past experience that OC hasn't shown the full deck yet. Not sure if this is a game where all the cards get played or not. A wise man once said, You have to run what you brung and hope you brung enough.  Everyone be safe and GO CATS!!!

Sequatchie was one of my favorite road trips in recent memory. Very welcoming, tremendous little local food scene.

Make it a top 5 when you add in Sarge's Shack and Nick's Grill at I65 when you come in on Hwy 64.

Not sure how far down the Cats are this year, maybe blockheads expectations are high.  I don't think Sequatchie has played the level of competition that Giles has.  Combine that and the long drive and the Brickyard atmosphere and it adds up to a long night for Sequatchie and even longer ride home.  Safe travels to all. GO CATS!!!

I am just glad that I have the opportunity to watch my son play on this thanksgiving weekend . There are not many parents (except for Alcoa lol) that get this chance . Most work their butts off all year and if they are lucky, make it to the playoffs . Whether we pull off the miracle and compete or get “boat raced” as so many of you have predicted, I will still be proud of my team . Go Bobcats !!!

Nothing like those Thursday night walk throughs on your home field on Turkey Day.  Remember that feeling and do everything you can to have another Thursday walk thru. GO CATS!!

  5. For the Kingston fans making the trip, I'm sure most map apps have you guys getting off at exit 22 off I65.  I suggest using exit 14 hwy 64.  Two good places to eat there, Nicks Grill (nicksgrill.rocks) and Sarges Shack.  Take a left for the food.  Turn right then take a right at the first light about 12 miles  then a right at the next light and you have found yourself at The Brickyard.

I will be making the trip from Nashville to watch this one! Pulling for a big Jackets upset this week!!!

Be sure to come early enough to enjoy some of our fine dining.  The Southern Table just off the square is a great choice and then there is always The Hickory House at the north end of the stadium.  Use the north end parking lot for the Hickory House and use that entrance for the game.  Only game I attended this year was the Nolensville game and I left in the 4th with Giles down 14. As the record shows they came back for the win.  What i can tell you is that the Bobcats will be well prepared and in better shape than most teams.  This will be one of the nicest small town stadiums with natural turf you will visit.. So come on over and enjoy.  GO CATS!!!

  7. For the first time since the early 2000's I don't have a child at GCHS, so all I can offer is travel and restaurant  advice. Leave early beat the Nashville traffic come down to exit 14, try Nicks Grill or Sarges steak house. Better yet come on into town and you can find a number of excellent places to eat.

I have no idea what GC has other than reading the box score from last week.  I do know they will be well prepared and in good shape.  Good luck to all. GO CATS!!!

IMO, he is not ready to be a HC of a program. It would be a mistake by the Chargers. The man they need to be looking for is sitting on the Tennessee River leading a program.

IMHO, no one knows how anyone will work out until given a chance.  What I do know is Bo has been coached at a very high level and coached at EMCC where he won a state and National Championship.  Whether any of that means he will be a good or great coach, only time will tell.  Every coach that is coaching today probably had the same questions asked about them. But you can not argue with the success he has had at every level of competition he has been on.

So when did you change from DX5? I had this whole post how it stood for Dillingers times 5 cuz that’s what you always carried and how when you went hunting deer would play dead when they saw you coming cuz they knew it was their only chance?

But at least we got a heads up it’s plastic flasks only at the Pearl!

And another thing, just a few years back GC rolled into the Pearlbig underdogs and crushed the Pearl.

Fully expect to see it happen again!

Careful Rock, some of the posters on here are a little sensitive and may not be accustomed to our sense of humor.  They may have BDS (BOBCAT derangement syndrome)  GO CATS!!!

Don't bring up the past unless it was last year.  Or maybe you can if you say 96-97 state champs as your signature.  I'll take 2009 State Champs then.

With your comment about leave all metal objects in the car, let's me know it's TRUE. Point where y'all might forfeit the game, plus that win y'all got here was a long time ago.

Not sure how you got that from my statement, especially when I said no reason to move the game.  Just giving  our people a heads up that there will be a magic wand at the gate.  Which doesn't do any good for the ones that come under the fence on the visitor side. As far as a long time ago, we have played twice, what else can I go by?  GO CATS!!!

Bobcat so what's the word? I just heard yal trying to get the game moved to Giles? Is this true?

No reason to move the game. We have won at Pearl before.  The catfish sandwich was good. I suggest everyone get one if they still have them.  Leave all metal objects in the car, the magic wand will find it.  Hope we are where we need to be this early in the season to put on a good show.  Time to see what other play makers are going to shine.  Defense HAS got to wrap up. Hit it and quit it wont work.  GO CATS!!!

We're still in negotiations. Tryin to get the same deal that Wallace boy got.

You don't want the Wallace deal , unless you enjoy picking the weeds from the football field, filming practice, working on Big Joes mowers and having to sweep the field house.  After you make sure the toilets are clean.  Knowing he is scared of heights makes filming from the 15ft tripod a challenge for the dad.  It will all work out in the end. Come on down there are still jobs that need filling.  GO CATS!!!

  13. For me personally I need to know, does the kid have a sister that plays softball and is a shutdown pitcher?  If so the possibilities are endless.  As for smoking on the sidelines, that's a State law, out of our hands.  Plus our PA guy would lose his mind if that went on. "Jack Deere Field aka The Brickyard is a no smoking facility".  Jobs are there if one is needed. We have family owned trucking companies and grocery stores that love to help out in a time of need.  Plus a family owned pallet making business that may better suit the kids need for saw dust..Need to know asap, cause kids are moving in daily, 3 in past week. Good Luck.  GO CATS!!!
