  1. Maybe next year UC. Is that CROW good?. Keep recruiting, keep recruiting, keep recruiting. Can't wait to here what CRYBABY LAMAR has to say.

Well, did you hear?  The thousands of parents that didn't have a daughter playing in the state tournament stole all

the crow.  Coach Lamar has managed to make it to another state semi-final.  Good job Coach Lamar

  2.

Signal has a volleyball player who signed with FL in her JR. year. They want her down there in Jan. Is this your average player? NO! She's 6'++ and can touch 11'4" on vertical leap. We had a quarterback who left in Dec. a couple of years ago and is a back-up role at KY.

These are not your usual athletes. Encourage your sons and daughters to represent their HS's.

What a joke! Where in the world does a person get off making a statement like this???

    11'4" - Give me a break. The top of a girl's volleyball net is 7'4 and 1/4"

I guess she will jumping over the net soon.

Pool winners will start play at 10:00 Saturday morning at the

    Ooltewah gym on court 1.

Pool winners: Ooltewah, Farragut, Cleveland, and Soddy Daisy

All the second place teams will be on court 2 at Ooltewah.

The 3rd and 4th place teams will be on courts 3 and 4 at Ooltewah.

  4. I saw them early, but didn't see them in the last groupings.

I wish all the teams would post there scores.

After looking a little more, I found that there were 10 teams in the

GOLD and 10 teams in the SILVER. Anderson County didn't make it to

either. I got a good look at Farragut and Webb. Both looked strong.

  5. The Silver Bracket final was between Soddy Daisy and Walker Valley.

Walker topped Hume Fogg 2-1 and Soddy Daisy beat Morristown West

    2-0 in the semi-finals.

Walker Valley won the Silver 2-1 over Soddy Daisy.

Soddy Daisy went 3-0 Friday night with wins over Karns (25-10 & 25-16),

    over Alcoa (21-25, 25-19, and 15-7), and Webb (25-22 and 25-19).

The intensity level in the Webb match was super.

Soddy Daisy opened Saturday pool play with Centenniel, dropping a

heartbreaker 19-25, 25-19, and 13-15. Soddy Daisy beat Heritage 25-17

25-16. Farragut beat the Lady Trojans 25-16 and 26-24.

Soddy Daisy dropped to the Silver Bracket with the loss and went on

to beat Dobyns Bennett 25-22 and 25-20 before beating Morristown West.

Soddy Daisy is now 7-4 for the season.

  6. Middle of the 3rd: Soddy Daisy 4 and Dickson 1.

The Coach T website shows Soddy Daisy playing

in the State Sectionals for 13 straight years

and winning most of those games. Lots of State

    Championships and several runner-up trophies.

The competition in public AAA has been great.

With well over 100 public schools competing in

the AAA level, Soddy Daisy softball has to rank

as one of the top programs. I could be wrong,

but I think the top private school league has

only 16 teams. With only 15 other teams to

beat, winning the state should be a lot easier

and making the state tournament should be nearly

automatic for the bigger private schools.

Dickson comes back and wins 6-4.

Tomorrow should be an interesting day.

  8. Does anyone know if Cookeville vs Soddy was played tonight or rained out? I've not seen a score nor anything about it being rescheduled. Thanks in advance.

Soddy Daisy was up 6-4 in the seventh. Too much rain. Cookeville was batting.

Game will be resumed tomorrow. "Long way to travel for 2/3 of an inning."

  9. UTC will be offering a high school team camp this summer, July 25-27. All information can be found on their camp.

This summer's camp schedule also includes the following...

    June 27- Skill Specific Camp

    July 23&24- Allskills/Advanced Camp

    July 25-27- HS Team Camp

    July 28- Little Mocs Camp

How many local players are at UTC? Did UTC win only 5 games this past year?

All details can be found online at www.chattanoogavolleyballcamps.com or by contacting Adam Mclamb at adam-m-mclamb@utc.edu or by telephone 423-425-2227

  10. I like the Soddy vs Rhea matchup next round. That is a great rivalry through the years.

I wouldn't call it a "rivalry," according to CoachT, Soddy Daisy has won

13 of 14 games over the last 8 years by a combined score of 98 to 13.

This averages out to 7 to 1 per game.

Soddy's only loss to Rhea was in '08 by 1 run in a non-district game.

Rhea has had some very good teams and are continuing to improve.

    Good luck to both.

  11. Check out todays BEST RECORDS.  Oakland is number 1 with a 22 wins and 7 losses.  Is this really better than Dekalb County's 21 -1 record? Maybe this should be listed as "MOST WINS".  I am not stressing over it.  I would just expect the terminology to be correct.

Good Gosh! AAA softball vs. AA, give me a break. Most of the good AAA teams would take apart the

top AA teams. Who you play decides the records.

  12. I agree that Baylor and other private schools get some good athletes but there are still some great athletes in public schools. I don't think Greg was saying that Soddy didn't have a good team or that Baylor was a better team just that Soddy didn't hit the ball. I have to agree if a team doesn't hit the ball they are not a big threat!

GOOD GOSH! Volleyball 101 teaches most people that if you're 5'7" and there is a 6'0" blocker

across from you, you should do something other than swing hard. No matter how hard you hit it,

a taller blocker has the advantage. I've seen a lot of tall teams get beat by smaller teams

    that can hit "smart" shots.

  13. Choo Choo Tournament Update. Last I heard Ooltewah, Walker Valley, Cleveland, Bradley and Baylor were all in GOLD.

    Any updates?

Elite 8 in the CHOO CHOO GOLD: 1)KNOX CATHOLIC (they topped Farragut earlier in the day - this was

their first win over Farragut in 6 years - they beat Father Ryan 2-1), 2) Ooltewah,

3)Soddy Daisy (they topped Cleveland 2-0),

    4) Baylor (they topped Bradley in 3), 5) Farrigut (they topped East Hamilton in 3),

    6) Blessed Trinity, 7) Bradley (they beat Walker Valley), 8)Sullivan South

FINAL FOUR: 1)BLESSED TRINITY, 2)SODDY DAISY (beat Catholic), 3)Ooltewah (beat Sullivan South in

    3 - the second game went 34-32), 4)BAYLOR

  15. I don't usually weigh in on matters. My husband does that for me, but I can't say that I belong in the same category with Catherine, Sherry, and Rita. And I can't say I hired Paul because he was never paid, but he did help me back in the 80's with my South Young teams when he was a UTK student. I do still love it after all these years. And don't forget Barbara Campbell...Brentwood...You've heard of them I trust. :) They're loaded with talent and hungry for the title.

  16. Lorri Pointer Johnson has 588 high school wins. Coach Lorri

has taken South Young, Van Buren County, and Soddy Daisy to

    State tournaments.

Interesting facts: Lorri and Sherry Hooks played volleyball

together at Carson Newman College. Lorri recorded 72 wins

while rebuilding the Carson Newman program in the mid 90's.
