  1. I will agree with you that Coach Odle was a good assistant coach. The players did love him as an assistant. He is a good pitching coach, but he is not a great head coach. There was no jv program this year at all. The players who were not starters were used to get homerun balls and shag balls. You have to build for the future to make your program stronger. Thirty to thirty five players are taken every year with the understanding that there will be a jv program. The team usually dwindles down to about 15-20 before the season starts.

Hopefully the new coach will work more on building for the future.

That sounds just like a former State championship program in Gibson Co. that wears purple. :roflol:

  2. I was on the field Friday. MLB #19, Avery Williamson has the worst trash talking mouth I've seen in my four years of playing at Alcoa. I cam into the game respecting him but left with a very different oppinion.

Now that I'm not playing for the team anymore with this win, I can come out and say i was a player on this tornado team.

I don't believe anything you just said. Show some GUTS and put your name and jersey # on here if you (another player) are going to call Avery out on here?

  3. Congrats to Alcoa, your execution at all positions is better than Milan's. It was also refreshing to play a team that hits your hard AND clean (and that's a reflection of Coach Rankin). Milan plays that way and enjoys playing other teams that play that way. That is what high school sports should be.......win.....but do it right.

Milan, you guys were a special group that came up short again in the quest for Gold. However, you left it on the field and should have no regrets.

I am dissappointed in a couple of our fellow West Tn. neighbors getting on here wishing the worst for Milan. It's truly sad, but it's the world we live in today. Milan had many fans cheering Union CIty on to their 1st gold ball. There are many teams in West TN. I don't like, but you can bet I will be cheering them on to win the gold ball if my team can't.

  4. Where does your QB/DB live that never comes off the field?

    Blount County..........

I love it! you guys bust Alcoa chops about out of district players, but Milan has the SAME thing! ;)

You'll need another excuse now............

No we don't. Come find one.

The bottom line is Alcoa would still have won some state championships with "home grown" kids but to say you could win 5 straight with "home grown" kids is comical and frankly impossible.

  5. Looks like it's Milan vs. East Tn in this one. Alcoa fans have been talking smack on here for 6 straight years. A couple of Milan fans get excited and all of a sudden we are cocky....arrogant...etc.

Funny how all these chump teams that Alcoa destroys on a weekly basis get on here and talk smack of their own. ;) But that's ok..right?

Even more funny how 50footballmom constantly tells other teams how they would beat Milan too? Talk about lack of respect for your opponent. Look in the mirror East Tn.

  6. Christian Coleman will play. He hasn't been blocked all season(not one on one) and I don't expect it to start this week. 6'4" 250 and can move. He is a difference maker for the team.

Milan has 4 of the best LB's in the state( including the best with Avery) and they will need to have a big game this week.. Alcoa will have a tough go wearing the Bulldogs down with only 2 players going both ways. They couldn't do it last year and held the ball 33 minutes.

If Milan can move the chains? Alcoa might just get beat at their own game. :roflol:

  7. Good to hear from you Footballdad, we have missed talking to you. You are so right, Alcoa will get beat sometime or another. When that day comes, it won't be by Milan, it will be CAK or Loudon that has the honors. I think either team (CAK or Loudon) could beat Milan right now; both excellent programs.

    Thanks for your compliments.

Both good teams but not quiet as good as Milan. Saw some tape of CAK, just another JCS. Play hard but wear down against physical teams for 4 quarters.

You may be correct that Milan is better than CAK and Loudon. We'll never know because neither will play Milan this year. All we really know is that Alcoa has 4 wins over excellent CAK and Loudon teams this year by a combined margin of 97-20.

Watching tape of a team can sometimes be deceiving. A lot of people who see Alcoa only on tape, rather than live, don't get an true impression of how physical a team Alcoa is. It's only after they line up against them for the first time that they find out (example, Elizabethton). Of course, Milan has lined up against Alcoa once and should have a better gauge for how to prepare this time.

Who was CAK playing in the tape you saw? If it was a CAK-Alcoa tape, you may have gotten the wrong impression of CAK's stamina. A CAK-Elizabethton or CAK-Loudon tape would more realistically measure CAK's strength against another good 3A team.

Funny you should mention JCS. Is that the 4-6 JCS team that Milan smashed 24-14 on August 21? After a quick scan of the results of JCS's games, I sincerely doubt JCS could have stayed with CAK this season.

After looking at Milan's results this year, it appears the Milan offense started the season a little slowly and picked up steam as the season progressed. Is that a fair assumption? I suspect Milan is much stronger offensively now than when they played JCS.

Should be an exciting game Friday. I'm looking forward to watching it.

I don't recall who the opponent was, but IMO, CAK was a mirror image of JCS. Probably a little better, with a little more depth, but not that much. I think JCS had a hard time getting excited about playing D2 ball this year and I think their record reflected that.

Milan had a lot of pre-season injuries to some key players. Safety, both DT(one gone for the year), and 2 LB. Week 2 two we had 6 starters out with the QB being sick. Milan still got the W (at Huntingdon (rivalry game) and that says something for the depth this team has. Just got 2 players going both ways full time and that's Gilbert and Avery. I still haven't seen Avery wear down in a game.

Milan has gotten better as the season has progressed and I"m sure Alcoa has too.

  9. Milan brings a D that held Alcoa to under 3 yds. per rush last year. Although Tallent is decent, he is not Chase James and you really miss Sam Thompson.

A lot of these Alcoa fans won't admit it, but Rankin knows this is the one team he didn't want to see again.

Milan needs to improve time of possession and field position from last years game to have a shot in this one. Alcoa led that with 33 min vs. 15 min.

Milan is not favored in this one, but anyone that really has a clue about football knows Milan can win this game.

    :roflol:

  10. Well, here's my opinion on this game although dawg44 and others may not enjoy it, but it's my honest unbiased opinion as I've seen both teams perform. Milan IS NOT as good as last year! I would easily take Coleman over the Milan QB this year. Alcoa is just as good as last year if not even better! Alcoa's OLine and DLine will be more physical and will most likely dominate the line of scrimmage in this game. Milan's only hope to really pull something out here would be to open up the passing game and have no flaws in it that way the running game will open up in the process. In the game I saw Alcoa against Maryville, Alcoa's secondary struggled a bit with the passing game however they shut down every run that was up the middle. If Milan wants to keep theirselves in this ball game, they better pass the ball well because running it up the gut everytime is not going to work against Alcoa as indicated in last years first half performance by Milan's offense. I wish on everything that Milan does pull this upset, however I'm not quite sure it'll happen. I'll take Alcoa by 17.

The kiss of death for Alcoa....GC picks Alcoa by 17 :thumb:

  11. GREAT job to York! They truly showed Milan was "Mountain" football is all about in the first half. And apparently that's "trick play" football....which WORKED! But after halftime, Milan adjusted, and showed those Mountain boys just exactly what WEST TENNESSEE smash mouth football is about! And I'm glad they decided to show up! lol

Does anyone have any news on Christian Coleman??? I can say, I've been to ALOT of football games and I have NEVER heard a stadium THAT quiet....it was soooo quiet when he was on the field, you could hear him screaming in pain, and could hear the coaches talking in a normal tone on the sidelines. I know most of all he's just disappointed.

Anyway congrats to my Bulldawgs! Way to go York!

    SEE Y'ALL IN COOKEVILLE!!!

Christian will be fine. Had a little Dyersburg action going on. dry.gif

  12. Cylcones have a good team but it's obvioiusly not a great team. Too many average years leading up to this one to have a great team. Good win against Austin East, but they are not even close to Alcoa. AE has a lot of talent but that's about it. Alcoa has some talent but more importantly they are usually in position to make the play.

    Alcoa gets the W 28-7
