Can't argue with that. But has he got better or has DB got worse. His record every year seems to be pretty close to what it was 12 years ago. It's gonna' be 3 or 4 loses every year. And I don't think anybody in upper east tn has better athletes' year in and year out.

11 of 12...Even before the Reed Hayes/Malik Foreman game I'd say he's gotten better. At South, DB intimidated his players. Now he's just better. Regardless, you guys on Coach T were relentless. And he turned the tables.

Now that he has athletes like DB... He's dominated DB.

You can't argue 11 of 12. He's made Science Hill better.

    DB should have hired him.

I just got done watching the Betsy vs Greeneville game. Betsy’s defense and QB  are very good. Hopefully we can find a way to move the ball. If not, it will be a long night.

I see a good match with Upperman...Our offenses employ similar styles in the run game but our pass game is better. Our defense is much better. We beat Greeneville with hard nosed D, ball control, no turnovers and a coach with ice in his veins. He has confidence in his QB, his line and they deliver. Greeneville had the ball 7 minutes in the second half ... 7 minutes. Greeneville may have had the best offense in the state.....but our D shut them down and our O kept them off the field. We had 64 plays to their 40.

I will make sure to hunt you down in Nolensville Friday. I’m pretty sure he had 178 tackles last season but I don’t know the rest. I wish the team would use your stats. I feel they are way more accurate than what ends up on unapproved website.

Thank you. I work hard on being accurate. This year I keep up with tackles during the game as much as I can. I do watch the HUDL film and adjust as needed. The endzone shot really helps...

I agree. I thought they would do it like they did going to cookeville last season.

I drive a school bus as well for the ECS. I rode the charter last year to TTU. The charter driver says they can only drive 8 hours per day by state law. If they wanted to take school buses they could not as it would be nearly impossible to swap drivers after a day. Driving a charter is more efficient.

I appreciate everything you, Tom, Richard, and Ryan do to promote our kids. As a parent being able to go back and listen to games from the past will be something I will treasure forever. They call the game for the Cyclones so naturally there is going to be some cheering and talking up. I often listen to the oppositions call of the game and they are no different. Again, thanks ticket. Best stat man in the business.

You made my day Mr. Morton. I sincerely appreciate your kind words...I'll share with Tom as wel.  If you get a chance introduce yourself. I can also send you Duece's stats for Friday night plus year to date. I may have last years as well. I need an email. No need to give it here..just catch up with me. I always wear my NC STATE Dad hat at the games.

The reason Tom does the "lesser" games as you call them is because he sales ads and gets money. This is his job so that is a what person does when they have a job. No need for other stations to cover them games if they lose money.

Yeah, lesser wasn't a good word. Part two isn't as correct as you think. Tom is also in it for the kids.

I've listened to Tom before, and he wasn't bad.  Last night however, was pretty poor.  The guy that was with him really made it sound very amateurish.  The clapping and hollering was over the top.  I realize that most radio broadcasters have the "homers", but openly cheering sounds pretty silly.

I've sat next to Tom for 20 years doing his stats. He is among the best in HS football announcing. He's been AP broadcaster of the year at least 5 times. Yes, he cheers for Elizabethton... He prepares for the games better than most. But his strength is he promotes the kids. He'll broadcast girls volleyball or TA Duggar football. Other stations won't touch "lesser" games because there's no money in it. Not Tom. The other night, according to Facebook analytics we had 4000 listeners. Tom gets excited. He's not whiney and I didn't get that impression Friday night.

Richard and Ryan both work and coach there. They are 100% Cyclone. Coach Van Huss has kids playing basketball and volleyball. He's a great guy and he gives the broadcast his all. Ryan is the same. He's always prepared. His kids were sick Friday night so he stayed home to be with them.

Friday night was huge and we all knew it would be a 48 minute game. The emotions were high but controlled as much as possible. Tom gave #2 from Greenville his due. The kid is a great HS running back.

  8. The stat of the game that showed Cyclone dominance was that Springfield crossed midfield once in the entire game. That was on the long pass in the second half.

The Springfield D made some good plays and made the Cyclones O earn their scores but in the end the Cyclone D just couldn't be blocked. To the Jacket QB it must have looked like 15 players on the field all night. There was nothing there.

you guys are delusional cloudland  unaka hampton  and H.V. threw the ball more than etown and all run much more spread than anything else Rollins probably threw for around 700 yds in regular season all county QB's except H.V.'s probably threw for more than he did

Delusional? Rollins has thrown for 2075 yards and rushed for 853...he's thrown 27 TDS with 3 int...

    I’m going with the Cyclones.

    Cyclones    35

    Jackets       14

IMO the Cyclones have the better “D” with more depth and size. Keeping fresh players in rotation will show in the second half. This along with the fact that Springfield has had to go into OT in back-to-back games to secure the wins.

It's really not so much the second half as it is the extra 5 games. Both teams will play an additional half season. The NFL plays 16 games. Colleges 13-15.

The wear and tear takes a toll on lineman as they use the largest muscle groups more often which requires a lot of energy. The team with more one way players has the advantage... Especially in the line of scrimmage where games are won and lost. I think Elizabethton has the advantage. Their kids aren't fresh but I think they are fresher. Just my opinion of course.

Unfortunately we were in heavy pass defense for those couple possessions ( two picks on first 2 possessions) and we quickly made adjustments to the run.  I’m not even sure how many first downs thy had in the 2nd half  but it couldn’t have been more than 3-5.

Nolensville had 3 second half first downs, 1 via a 15 yd penalty. Their longest play from scrimmage in the second half was 15 yards. That was the pass play from the 1 after 3 false starts. They had 79 yards of total offense, 221 for the game. The Knights didn't cross midfield in the second half. They had 48 yards on 9 penalties in the second half.

  12. To me the biggest difference for EHS 2018 vs 2019 is that both lines play one side and not both. To make it 14 games is tough. Game 15 can boil down to who is the freshest. I think Witten has done an excellent job of having his kids ready.

On offense it begins with #10. If they need a play they turn to him. On defense it's middle linebacker Deuce Morton #20. The defensive line does a good job of keeping the line occupied and Morton just cleans up... I think he averages about 14 tackles per game. Good luck in blocking him. He is a state wrestling champ.

Not an excuse, just facts. Our team will line up on Saturday and do their best to execute the gameplan that our coaching staff has installed. They will come ready to play for 4 quarters. I'll say this Betsy, don't let us hang around.

The facts are Elizabethton plays within the rules just as Springfield. The facts are many HS teams bring in players from within their county borders. They pay tuition. Many of those teams will play this weekend. I don't hear any coaches using your excuse.

Again, I don't know who wins. I'm pulling for Elizabethton... The facts are getting to this game is very difficult and Springfield has an advantage of being here before. If they win, that will not be the excuse. They were the better team.
