  1. I haven't seen a 5A poll but I would think Craigmont High School (Memphis) might be under the radar in other parts of the state. They will be very competitive with a strong returning team. Lots of talent, including QB Sam Craft, who had a big part in their basketball state title last season.

  3. At the Southwind Jamboree Collierville and Millington played to a 7-7 tie or it might've been 7-6. Either way Millington's running game was pretty strong but they looked astrocious trying to throw the ball. Threw 2 picks I believe. As for Collierville I believe they were missing two of their better players and I was under the impression they weren't playing all of their varsity players or else I'll be disappointed with their season.

As for Southwind they stomped Bolton 22-0. Which is what I expected. Two of their TD's were 70 yards or more and they had another 80 yard TD called back. They threw the ball well and ran it well too. Their defense looked vulnerable against the Screen, but other then that they also stone walled Bolton and a JV player got an INT once again it was Bolton so it'll be hard to get a read on how really good they are until next week, but they're O-Line is massive tall and wide bodied, but athletic and they return all their WR, The QB, and their Tailback. The defense was missing a starting LB, and DE as well.

From the article in the commercial appeal Houston and Germantown were the strongest teams at Arlington.

I saw from mid 2nd qtr till the end. I didn't see the Commerical appeal article, but these are my thoughts:

Bartlett lined up in a pro set, haven't seen that at Bartlett in few years. They looked competitive on offense with a qb that can throw, and good WRs and speedy RBs. Defense struggled a little against Houston O.

Houston, O and D looked good and competitive against both Arlington and Bartlett.

Germantown, has good size, especially at LB some big guys. They have Quality back in Lowe and he ran well against Arlington. The D was strong and held Arlington scoreless.

Arlington, O looked a little off, but they have lots of talent out there. The D looked good, but this is the jamboree. We will see how good they are next week playing a strong Oakland team, whom is ranked 10TH in the state. Arlington will have to play much better to compete.

  4. What??? Introduce yourself at the game. I like anyone with a sense of humor. I am generally an easy going guy. Most that read my post know pretty quickly who I am. I am not hard to miss.....I have had 3 movies...look like SHREK.... But not green...

Crimson? Next time I'm over there I will. BTW, I don't look like "Donkey", although my wife sometimes calls me a jack---. :). Imagine that!

  5. And you received an answer on films....

.... "hand held ground level video". Fair enough. Well, I'd expect a little less emotional reply from someone whose "real name" is Dragon Master. Is that a legal or given name? Pretty cool. We could be friends. :)

    others: "Hey where you going?

me:"I, Onefortheteam and Dragon Master are going to the East so that we may smite those in the Middle, who plan to take titles from the West."

    others: "What? Dragon...smite?"

me: "Yeah, Dragon Master. Don't ask. No, no, it is his real name."

me: "you know that guy, who has like 600+ posts on coacht, whose favorite line is: {Don't be hiding behind a screenname, making comments and be a man..}"

    others: "oh, yeah, that guy."

    Just kidding. :)

  6. Not a trading film issue he just doesn't like getting ground level hand held videos. That is a bush league move. Hiding behind a screen name and making comments is bush league. Be a man.

    Roy kirkland

I'm not hiding, I have no doubt about my manlyness and making comments is "THE" purpose for a discussion board. To be more exact, they were questions (notice the "?") and then comments on the "?s". As to who I am or who you say you are, I think a "man" would know that just because you type your name doesn't mean it is you. I don't know the name, and frankly it doesn't matter. The point of asking the questions was to try an understand why? I stand by my comments on the "?s" as well. There was nothing wrong with my post, it is my opinion and I am entitled to post it just like you.

  7. Arlington will have a very hard time with Woodales run game. Arlington has not faced a team this yr with Woodales speed. Woodale by 3 TD's. I'm not trying to down grade Arlington by any means. I would love to see Arlington win this game.

I think it will be closer than that.

  8. If Wooddale has a good run game and speed on defense they win this one. I think the RB for Wooddale will be unstoppable. Millingtons run game had Arlington beat except for missed Xtra points and fummbles. Wooddale wins by 10.

Fumbles by which team? I think we all know fumbles hurt both teams in that game, if either team doesn't fumble they win or win by more. As far as Wooddale, they are good and you maybe right, but I hope your wrong.

  9. I have not seen Dyer County, but I seen Collierville. They have a talented bunch of young men. Dyer County will have their hands full. This should be a good game.

I wonder if the Collierville coach traded films with them? I understand he has some issues with film trading? In this day and time, what kind of coach does that? Just seems bush league to me. Leaders do not behave that way.

  10. Two good teams, and the winner gets the reward of either the defending champ or the consensus top team Whitehaven. Wooddale has a excellent RB, who leads the metro area with around 170yds a game. Arlington has it's hands full with him and the rest of their talented team. I think this will be a game of some back and forth... Arlington in a thriller.

  11. The problem I see with this poster is that he is solely relying on statistical analysis to dismiss others positions, as "statistacally" the middle part of the state gets to play in too many championships.

Las Vegas lives for people like this.

Statistics are fine as a tool, but they cannot accurately predict any outcome with certainty if the outcome is less than 100%. It is a common maxim among mathematicians that if you could just get the right algorithm, then you could explain human behavior with certainty.

The TV show "Numbers" is more entertainment than fact.

There are more 6A schools in this part of the state than in others. The largest school in this state is in Nashville. Statistically speaking, McGavock should have shown up SOMEWHERE on the list of champions. Matter of fact, statistically speaking, someone in Nashville should have shown up statistically more often than say, Williamson County schools (they have more schools with more students, yet no championships).Or any other sport

    How does THAT compute?

This is how: better coaching, better staffs, better schemes, better turnout of the student population for the sport, better feeder systems, better resources spent on the programs, tradition, expectations. This is why Maryville excels, despite moving up in classification. This why Williamson and Rutherford County have similar successes, despite the explosive growth in schools which tend to be a delutive factor, not an additive factor.

That is not a number you can feed into your hierarchal multiple regression analysis, probability density functions, or Fisher F-Distributions ( I took statistics as well).

The reality is that it will all be played out on the field. I do predict that there will be, statistically speaking, some results that could not be predicted.

Good luck to all of the players- may your dreams survive for another week.

Excellent points and post. I believe that some have took what I said about "advantage", as me saying it is "only" reason the middle has won 33 of 46 or whatever. I DO NOT think that, nor am I or have I said that. I simply, in the very beginning(page4) of this crazy thread said, "middle" had an advantages and listed them. All the rest, has been dodging rocks from rabid fans. Goodluck you as well.

  12. Actually blackjack counting cards or just playing basic strategy are both better odds than the pass line.....probably wont believe me.

It would depend on the house rules for the game you're playing (split & surrender rules for BJ, odds limits for craps) along with any odds shifting (card counting) you can do.

I was givimg basic advice, a person card counting well that is a different story.

"I bet you won't agree with me", either.

  13. ok how bout this one....since 06...Smyrna, 07 Smyrna, 08 Oakland,- out of the last 4 championships...3 have been rutherford county..has nothing to do with the fact middel has 2 quads :thumb:

Posted the page before by me:

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Here we go with the middle TN booster club. Squirrel..really..that tired analogy? A blessed day...how can you, in the same post be so arrogant and dismissive...is this a blessing too you. What a contrast? Wait, wait, I will save you the "because I typed it post". Whatever. The system is skewed to the advantage of the middle. Any reseasonable person can admit that. This not the only reason, and certainly NOT the biggest reason, but a contributing factor to the title streak. Why is it so hard for middle TN fans to admit?

Again this why I say it is skewed:

1)The most schools are in middle TN.

2)50%+ of the teams in the playoffs

3)Middle in the East and West bracket(old system) and in 2 of 4 quads (new system)

4)East has to eliminate to 1 to advance to semis in both systems

5)West has to eliminate to 1 to advance to semis in both systems

As I posted a hundred posts ago, it is amazing the middle hasn't won them all, because on top of this advantage, they have great programs. "

    Good luck.

  14. Nope, I am a math teacher, I do my gambling at the poker table, where it's my skill vs. someone else's and no house advantage. Anyway, I am sure most roulette dealers would tell you they have never seen it happen. It should happen 1 in 1000 times, that's 46,000 spins of the wheel. And for your lottery comparison, people win the lottery, but lots more than 46 people play it. If 46 people played the lottery, i would say it would be decades or more before anyone hit the jackpot.

Math teacher, ok. Well, I guess that makes you right. Funny, how just like everything else you say, it is because you say so. Professor of probability using wiki...just kidding slow down.. The lottery reference was for "the whole drama of it all". Poker is the best game in the house, I KNOW this. Then the pass line..oh well. I'm going to stand by what I have already said and I think everyone can come to their own conclusion. Your views, seem just a little biased to be taken for face value.

  15. 5A - Quad 4

    Ridgeway over East ... 42 - 7

    Mitchell over Hardin County ... 31 - 14

Craigmont over Dyer Co. ... 48 - 14 to Mr. Craft

    Jackson over Melrose... 21-14

    6A - Quad 4

    Whitehaven over White Station ... 28 - 27

Arlington over Wooddale .... Wooddale is a good team, but I say Arlington. KWC is not always right.. :)

Dickson County over Collierville ... 35 - 21... will be closer than the score

Brighton over G'town... 24 - 21 this is tough one, two good teams. could go either way.

    Div. II

    Briarcrest over McCallie ... 28 - 21

    St. Benedict over BGA ... 17 - 14

KWC, I want to thank you for posting this every week. Goodluck.

  16. Well i really liked Millington using the wildcat and seem to mess with Arlingtons D.. I really like the pass from #36 Roland Genesey to #85?? which would have been a TD if he caught the ball but.. the pass was thrown perfect .. I think Millington might have a new offensive set next season with Roland Gensesy who appeared to be a dual threat with the pass he threw. Havent seen a Millington QB throw the ball like that in 5 yrs iv watched Millington.

Yep, #36 is the real deal. Big, strong and fast. That pass was perfect, and I agree it would have been a TD as well. I think Arlington will see some wildcat this week from Woodale, probably more than they will like. They have a super star back as well, it will be a big challenge...no doubt.

  17. my point was the only way to get you to shut it down is to say you are right and we are wrong...so i did...and you finally did!

blessed day wish is for all...foe or friend!

yours for living in the most dominant football region of the state of TN,

    PBD :flower:

Oh well, I tried. No one can contradict any of the middle TN posters on this website, it is really a shame too. I think all of us would enjoy good objective football conversation, without all of the "hype and cuts". Reading this board, will give you a good indication as to why good sportsmanship is a constant battle in youth sports. Good luck to you.
