  1. You do realize that Oakland and Riverdale don't play on the same day as Blackman and Siegel don't you?

Oakland-Riverdale play Thursday night of Week 0. Blackman and Siegel play that Friday night followed by La Vergne and Smyrna on Saturday night. It's a special thing the district is doing for its Week 0 games. New school Stewarts Creek will be at Ravenwood that Friday night.

The DNJ had this info several months ago.

  2. Stockstill's numbers to date: 130-of-196 passing for 2,008 yards, 23 TDs, 5 INTs

Rushing 89 for 642 yards with 10 TDs.

That's 10 games. He missed one non-district game due to an injury. And it comes in a league many consider is traditionally the toughest in the state.

HOWEVER, Siegel hasn't had many close games. They've had 8 games end in mercy rule and 1 that was a running clock at one point.

He hasn't thrown that much in the second half, and his run production has dipped because he's primarily handing off, and it's a running clock.

Offense is averaging 43.1 pts a game and 441.3 yards a game on an 11-0 team ranked No. 2 in 6A.

  3. Looking at the latest AP Poll and then moving teams around for possible quarter final matchups,

    Maryville

    Bearden

    Oak Ridge

    Riverdale

    Siegel

    Whitehaven

    D-Bennett

    Science Hill

East seems a lot tougher than west. We will not see the games above because of number of 'eastern' teams.

Just outside of top 8 is teams like Brentwood, Mt Juliet and Dickson County.

This seems to indicate there are going to be some great second-round games in the eastern

    part of the state.

What is your 'sweet 16' bracket after this week?

Playoffs? Too early to think about playoffs? Playoffs?

  4. How does 9A decide which teams advance to the regional? Does the regular season champ automatically advance?

It is decided by each district. There is no statewide rule. The TSSAA does not have a preference of how teams are selected for the region.

  5. Folks,

Our weekly live DNJ chats are winding down. Likely last one of the year at 7 p.m. today on dnj.com.

Unless something changes, we won't do one during the basketball season. There never was enough interest in it.

    Thanks for participating this season.
