Perry County beat WC last night in a barn burner 10 to 11. Great game Ryan Shanes from Perry Co. had the WC batters guessing with his off speed Knucklers for 5 innings but then WC was on to him and caught up . WC took the lead in top of 7th but Grimes from PC got the walk off hit in bottom of 7th. Both teams didnt pitch their 1 or 2 pitchers. Both teams #3 pitcher looked good.

 

 

Sounds like a good game. I think WC peaked a while back. They have not hit well the last 3 weeks. Sounds like they must have hit some last night in order to score 10 runs.

It wasn't a very good game. Wayne County's coaches decided to treat the game like a scrimmage after the 3rd/4th inning. The lineup was reshuffled (in ways that didn't make sense). Several JV players were on the field after the 4th inning, and from the 5th inning, two/three JV players were in the infield. In addition, in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings Wayne County played two pitchers who had not pitched a single inning all season.

Involving other/younger players isn't necessarily a bad thing, but we have been in a slump over the last two weeks, going 4-3 in that stretch. This was the last chance to work out some of the kinks before the District tournament, but we didn't do it. This is about the 4th time the coaches of Wayne County have decided to treat a non-district game like a scrimmage after about the 3rd inning, and the 3rd time we have lost because of it.

LOL, it's good. I don't get offended by nothing said on here. It's all in good fun. I apologize if I upset you as well. I don't mean any harm or damage by anything said on here from me. I will delete my first post I made on here to you as it might've been a little harsh.

 

I do think that Adamsville will come out weak in this game though. Being off for 2 weeks with no game action will be tough. Yes, they'll be fresh and ready to play, but they'll be rusty getting started and the playoffs are no place to be rusty. Once again, I apologize and good luck to the Cardinals!!!!

 

No problem! I know it will be rough coming out after actually three weeks off! Humboldt is a good team with good athletes! You don't get this far by not being good! We are very proud of our kids here and what they have done this year! First playoff game we have hosted since 1991. We have been in the playoffs but to host one is big and we are excited about it! This the best team we have had since 1991! Our head coach Brandon Gray was the QB on that team that made it to the 3rd round! I hated having the bye week when we did but that was the way it fell out for us during scheduling! Hopefully we can

come out and get into some kind of rhythm by the end of the 1st qtr! I believe this will be a good game and that is what you always hope for! But with kids you never know cause you never know what is on their mind! Nevertheless I am ready for this game to get here!

I know this isn't really relevant to the discussion, but I thought it was necessary to put the 2009 Cardinal Team in proper perspective. The 1991 A'ville team was actually defeated in the second round by Bruceton 17-6, after having defeated FACS 15-7 in the first round. If the Cards win on Friday night they will actually be the first Adamsville team to advance to the 3rd round/quarterfinals since 1985, and only the third one to do so overall (the other one coming in 1983). Both the '83 and '85 teams made it to the semifinals. In my opinion, the 2009 Cards are already better than the 1991 team. That team went 8-2 and was put out in the second round, this team is 9-1 and still alive in the second round. Good luck to the Cardinals this Friday night.

 

Wayne County played 5 2a, 3a, and 4a teams. Three of them (one from each class) made it to the playoffs. 7 of WC's 10 opponents are in the playoffs. The 3 teams who did not make it were in WC's 8 team region. All three non-district oppenents made it into the playoffs. I am not sure about Jo Byrns, but I believe their schedule was about the same. Both of these teams are legitimate. They did not search for non-district cupcake teams to play.

 

The playoff sytem is messed up, but the truth is only 19 teams in 1a had winning records (including 4 0.500 teams), and all of them are in the playoffs with a chance to win the state championship. That is about all you can ask for of any playoff system.
