Sullivan County just posted the Head Coaching position at Sullivan South High School as open. The following link takes you to the posting.
https://sullivan.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx
This is a position for either a non-faculty or faculty coach. i'm not sure of exactly what teaching positions are open but would hope to see a teacher with wrestling coaching experience fill this role.

I think you talked slow enough so no one wod be confused. The term that is commonly misunderstood is the term feeder. The term feeder is not just middle school, but anything below high school. The other thing you have to consider is DB and Jeff County has 2 middle school programs to everyone else that has one. Robinson is stronger for sure, but there are usually a couple that do well from sevier as well. Elementary is where the best feeders are, not middle school. This might also help make your case too artus climber

This is from AAU state and Indian springs is DB feeder. Coach from PA, there are big rivalries in this region. That makes the region interesting, but it is a double edged sword when the cost of winning is too much then seeing kids succeed. Good luck to everyone as they prepare in the offseason and to the KIDS future endeavors.
What do the highlighted numbers below represent?
Indian Springs Warrior Wrestli 3907 31 212.5
Bristol Wrestling Club 3909 13 115.5
Did anyone have to qualify for AAU State this year?
Hope this thread doesn't go off the rails.
Also hope that AzZa9 can find a place to coach in the Tri-Cities. There's only one head coaching job that's likely to be available if that's what you're looking for. Not sure that it will be.
Most of this region try to work together improve the overall wrestling in the area. We are still not on par with much of the state but some schools are making strides and appear to be closing the gap. Some schools not so much. These schools are where you would have the most immediate impact.

Congrats to Tennessee High on a big win for their program!

The reason there's so much importance placed on wrestling here is because, go figure, this is a forum where we talk about WRESTLING. Not about education, family, or faith. So, here , we're gonna talk about wrestling.
And I agree with you reftn. You will NEVER hear a AAA state champ say he wishes he was A-AA. There's only 3 maybe 4 kids out of the entire division who could medal in AAA. 4 kids out of 224.
Your last two lines is an argument for the splitting of the divisions.
If you're on a wrestling team that pulls from 500 or so kids to build a team, it is highly unlikely you're going to be fortunate enough to have a wrestling partner that can push you on a daily basis and almost impossible to have another kid in the room close to your size that can push you at all.
So when you get to go live against a guy that has the good fortune to attend a school where having a 3rd string is the norm, you’re typically going to get your #### handed to you because you’ve been practicing daily against Norm the bookworm who’s dad made him come out or Bubba the farm boy that’s trying athletics for the first time in his life. Or better yet, the closest anyone in your room in weight to you is 60 lbs heavier or 25 lbs lighter.
Surely even the most adamant against the split can see the advantage of having multiple partners near your weight. On top of that if you’re fortunate enough to have talented wrestlers near your weight you are definitely going to get better than the kids who can easily pin everyone in his room.
I understand it’s an individual sport and you can get better by hitting clinics and camps and wrestling off-season. However I also understand that iron sharpens iron and if on a daily basis your iron is going against wood when you run into other iron you’re really not as sharp as you need to be.
The above doesn’t even begin to include the advantages of having a superior weight room or any other advantage that can be gained by having more money in your program (such as a high quality coach).

So how many teams are in AAA now? I'm very confused with this whole division split.
Also watch out for Jason Spoon(MW) this season. I heard he beat Vance at the take down tournament at the hill. Could be a bracket buster this season.

Everyone is wrong.
There are some preachers that say your going to heck if you dye your hair. Others drink beer and smoke weed and say don't judge. Is the truth somewhere in the middle?
I can assure you many (not all and maybe not most) schools 'coach' in the off season. After next year it's irrelevant. Have you not heard that wrestling, bowling and some other minor sports will now be exempt from the 'no coaching during off season' restrictions? Of course that's next year.
In the mean time it is still illegal for a wrestling coach to coach wrestling to student athletes until Nov. 1. You can show all the techniques involved with running a sprint or how to properly bench press, but God forbid you show a kid where to put his foot when shooting a high crotch.
Out of the top 10 programs, 10 of them, if they aren't teaching wrestling, are simply paying someone else to do it. Once again the poor kids get screwed. But then again some people are more concerned about a teenage kid without a father spending time with a wrestling coach during the "dead period" then what is really "right".
Since I'm a little slow and not very good at deciphering sarcasm in the written text, are you being serious about the above bolded and underlined statement?
-
You can point out specific technique all day, but I bet there is one aspect that each of these wrestlers hold in common, and that would be off-season work ethic. I have heard it said that you have to put in 10,000 hours to master anything in life. It would be hard to get that kind of mat time from your HighSchool coach with all the restrictions TSSAA puts on athletes during the dead periods, so they must put the burden on themselves to train, find the best camps and open mats with the highest level of competition available to hone their craft. I am sure each of these wrestlers put in the extra work!

Registration is closed on trackwrestling. If you'll open it back up I think we've got a couple of kids that would sign up for it.

Is there a growth/weight allowance?

No doubt TNAAU is heading in the right direction with this tournament. This is also the 5th year that we’ve been involved and without a doubt the talent level is higher than ever before.
The medal wait was frustrating and I would assume for the wrestlers who had to wait nearly 2 hours to wrestle for the finals it was probably pretty difficult as well. Maybe not but I would think so.
I would suggest having a Championship mat front and center that would be used for the Finals only. As a bracket finished up the 1st and 2nd place wrestlers could move to this mat and wrestle. This would allow the spotlight to be on these wrestlers, everyone to receive their medals in a more timely fashion and make sure all 6 were there for the photo ops. As more and more brackets finished you may have to use two mats for the championships matches to make sure you don’t end up with another long wait. Maybe not a perfect solution but something to at least give some thought to.
The announcer was a little loud but that probably had more to do with the venue than anything else. Pretty sure when it’s full of livestock they need all the volume they can get.
Speaking of venue, I’m not sure what’s out there that would accommodate this size of event, so I won’t complain. However getting out of an Ag center would be preferable as long as it was affordable and didn’t force the quality of medals to diminish or hurt the ability to send Team Tennessee to national events.
Even though my guy finished 6th we thought the medals were still good for that level of finish.
Outside of the length of the tournament we thought it was a job well-done.
Congratulations and thanks to those that made it happen.

Coach Lee Roper of Compound Wrestling will be leading a Crab and Leg Clinic Oct. 6th and 7th. This fantastic clinic is being co-hosted by Rebel Wrestling and the Vikings Wrestling Club. 2 seasons of wrestling required to attend unless in Middle School or High School.
See the flyer for this event at http://rebelwrestling.info/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/crab_and_leg_clinic.docx

DB's may not be great, but go to Johnson City for a Science Hill game. Don't know if he's the worst but he's not very good.
Sullivan South has the best I've heard in this area. Might be that I'm biased but most folks that pay attention to that sort of thing like him.
