Why do you all need Axis security working for you all . J Fred is far from Neyland..

They had to keep the cowbell out of the stadium. Some fans didn't get the word and when they rang them during the game Axis came into the stands to remove the kid from the stadium however Mr Steve Grindstaff who has a son and grandson playing told them they weren't taking that kid anywhere. After a radio conversation. They left.

Basically the DB administration and football staff is soft as baby poop

DB actually hired a private security company to keep the cowbells out of the stadium. They told one fan they would escort him out of the stadium until Mr Grindstaff stood up and said you will not take him anywhere. The security guy left.

I can't speak for DB, but Boone is VERY afraid of Elizabethton, that is why we have played them 37 times.

We Boone goons have attempted to utilize Exposure Therapy to overcome this fear, but it is not easy and it is not short-term.     Several times per year, even outside of football season, our players and coaches will make surreptitious trips to Elizabethton (never on a Washington County bus, only private unmarked transportation).    The idea is to drive through town and face those fears head-on without worrying about repercussions.    The theory goes that as more and more exposure happens, over time the fears begin to dissipate and become innocuous.  The problem of course is that each year is a slightly different group of guys on the team who have to initiate the process of becoming desensitized to all things Cyclone.    This may sound crazy to outsiders and scoffers but I believe it is working, and who knows, after maybe 20 years we may be able to finally step onto the football field with Elizabethton and view them as a worthy yet equal opponent.    But until that happens we will keep scheduling them year after year after year....

Any Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday is open on our schedule between now and the end of the season. Put up or shut up..as a matter of fact the only team in this area that has an open date the same week as Elizabethton is none other than Daniel Boone and guess what. They are afraid and refuse to play Elizabethton.... Explain that Sigmund Freud....

Whaley was out with an illness. HOLZER left as a precaution. There was still enough D and O to go around. This is a real team. Playing together. For each other. I’m more proud of that than anything. And the depth at about every position is incredible. Our next up can play at a high level and give others rest.

That's exactly what I saw almost every position is 2 to 3 deep and they don't miss a beat no matter who's in. Heck I think 4 played almost every position on the field. WR, Halfback, TE, Slot, Defense End, corner, LB. I think center and QB were the only two he didn't play...

There is a real good chance because I have talked to a few players that would like that to happen.

If DB was smart they wouldn't take a chance on Hurd getting hurt in this one. Elizabethton's D is big and physical. One hit from ether Defensive ends, and it's lights out on his season. They may go with the QB from Union.

  6. The East QB has over 1700 yards passing. #1 in the state by far. How does Elizabethton stop that passing attack? Elizabethton's defense hasn't let to many teams score when they did there were a lot of 2's on the field. Could be in for a challenge. Elizabethton's D has a lot of INTs could be a chance to rack up some more.

And how many kids came from Hampton cloudland happy valley Unaka to win those? There’s always been a good ole boy system in elizabethton. Aka people with the money not to mention any names

If Elizabethton had a good old boy system then Gib would have been our starting QB seeing his dad played at Elizabethton and was the VP of the TD club. Gib is a great athlete but he's a dropkick QB. Not the Rollins type of QB that fits Whittens Offense like the 2 sophomores. And as far as drawing kids from the Country Schools our Jr High has 90 kids playing. Hasn't lost but a few games in the past 10 years. We don't need to pull from them. 2 years ago Hampton, Cloudland and Elizabethton were all in the semifinals. If anything it was our kids going to those schools that helped that.

Im not really sure what I just read through, but ill say this.

Region games take precedent, so it makes sense for MO West and Boone to be rescheduled first. Either side not wanting to play on the weekend sucks, but it is what it is. Its hard to cancel plans youve had all week late on a Friday night, then try to find travel accommodations to get back down to Morristown.

I agree with the sentiment that Betsy admin screwed the Betsy fans for having so few home games. Maybe they have a hard time finding games, but maybe they should reach out to schools outside the area. Im sure Knox West, Maryville, Alcoa, Fulton (maybe?) ya know other schools with scheduling issues could try to schedule each other then maybe they could find more games. Also I get a smaller school may want to dictate they get to play at home, who wouldnt, instead of traveling an hour to go get beat by 70, and DB is gonna DB theyre not giving up their home games. However, I find it hard to believe schools like West, Maryville, Alcoa wouldnt sign home and home games.

Lastly at the end of the day mother nature won, thats something that neither you or I can control, its frustrating, but thats just how life goes sometimes. If the worst thing you have to worry about is a cancelled high school football game, then youre doing alright.

Mother Nature? I can't believe some of you people trying to put the blame on Betsy...when you all know Daniel Boone Coach's could not give up their UT tickets play football. They made every excuse it the book to get out of being embarrassed on live TV. There is no reason they could not play on a Monday or Tuesday like Greeneville. The weather has nothing to do with this. Mother nature is not causing the Boone from making up this game. darn right people get upset when these kids work their butts off and grown men can't give up their personal time to do the right thing and play the contracted game they were scheduled to play. When thousands of dollars are taken out of our program. They don't care about the kids and really need to evaluate wheather they are even cut out for their job. Maybe teaching home economics is better suited for them. It they are allowed to get away with this then it sets a precedent all over the state. When you have a down team and you don't want to play a better team. Heck then we just won't play. It's not a regional game so it doesn't count. Our band members worked their butt off all summer to defend their State Championship and they don't get to preform at a home game until October. Look at all the memories those Boone Coach's have caused them to lose. If Elizabethton ever schedules Boone in any sport again it's not going to be pretty around here...it doesn't matter how many games the Betsy Admin scheduled when teams don't show up to play them..

enough already.  your administration messed up.  no one else.  Be mad at elizabethton.

How? That's the stupidest thing ever. BOONE SHOULD HAVE PLAYED WEST THE NEXT DAY LIKE THEIR CONTRACT SAID. ELIZABETHTON CONTRACT WITH BOONE SAYS WE PLAY TOMORROW IF THE GAME GET RAINED OUT TONIGHT. SO EXACTLY HOW DID BETSY MESS UP?  NO WONDER YOU LOSE 30-0 TO A TEAM BETSY WHIPPED.

I did not play in the HS band but sure do appreciate them being at the games.     Maybe every band does not have so many members like DB's does (DB's band has their own zip code BTW..... just saying....) but they still add a lot by playing in the stands as the game progresses.    I've been to a few games where the band did not travel and the atmosphere was not as good.

Band parents are very upset when thousands of dollars are taken out of their program because a couple of Daniel Boone coaches had tickets to the TN football game...

It's the last sentence of #2 in the contract..

"2. Only officials registered with TSSAA shall be used if the game is played in Tennessee.  Names of the officials shall be submitted to the visiting school for approval at least five days before the date of the contest.  The home team shall be the judge of weather conditions.  In case of rain, the game will be played on:___________________________ "

btw, this is why you should have to pass an IQ test to vote...

Dear brightest bulb,  the Elizabethton v Daniel Boone game didn't get rained out. Heck it's not even scheduled to be played until  this Friday it was CANCELED BY BOONE IN VIOLATION OF THE CONTRACT...It was the Boone v Mo West  game that got rained/lightninged out. When did their contract say they would play in case of rain? I bet a dime to a donut it wasn't the following Thursday Night Canceling all the other games. The Boone Coach's decided it on the fly like the press article said. They had to many kids and coaches going to the TN game so Saturday didn't work for them and Sunday would not work for Mo west. If the contract with Elizabethton says in case of rain out they play Saturday, so is Boone going to play Saturday? They made up all the confrence games take priority... it says that nowhere... they both could have taken a no contest if they could not have played in accordance with their contact. There are provisions for ties in confrence play. They use the coin flip.

The ONLY reason Mo West is playing is because it’s their bye week. They will play on a Thursday, get 5 days rest, play Tuesday, and then get 10 days rest. If Boone was in the same boat I’m sure they would try that as well. Greeneville is the one taking the risk by playing 2 games in 4 days. But, then again, it is Volunteer. Even though Sully East is undefeated, I’d venture a guess we would entertain the same option? But it ain’t happening.

So your JV players never play on Friday?

The reschedule date is supposed to be predetermined and part of the contract.  It obvoiously wasn't.  That's Elizebethton's responsibility too.  You keep expressing your frustration at Boone, but the reality is, it was your own administration that has failed you here.

You really don't know what you are talking about. Here is the official TSSAA  contract. It says can only be canceled by mutual agreement. Elizabethton did not Agree. Daniel Boone is even refusing to pay the $5000 agreed forfit amount. Each contract is for 2 years one home game and one away. BOONE COACHS MADE THIS DECISION100% ON THEIR OWN.

One can go on line and find both GHS and Betsy seat around 4200 bottoms. 800 to 1000 plus seats are already sold as reserved that money is in the bank. 400 plus seats are taken by the bands of the 2 schools.
various schools have different policies for allowing staff and family in. Students are charged traditionally 1/2 price unless schools charge for a student activity fee. Again money already collected.

Host schools must pay for many expenses. Referees, gate keepers, security, pre and post games food for officials and press box (at least in my 16 year time as GHS game administrator). Maintenance before and after the game. The power board told me 30 years ago, that every time we turned the stadium lights on it cost 300 dollars.

on another note you have wonderful community support for the afore mentioned 2 teams. Potentially 2000 fans will pay 8 dollars a head to watch the game.

Actually there is a 10 year waiting list for Cyclone Season Tickets and they just added another 1000 seats to Citizens Bank Stadium.

I'd be okay if someone shut your lying account down.  You keep avoiding actual facts and spewing lies.  The home team cancelled the game rather than playing late.  The reschedule date is supposed to be predetermined.  (it obviously wasn't).  Those are both things Elizabethton is responsible for.

So, well then, let's play Monday or Tuesday like Mo West and Greeneville... it's the Daniel Boone Coach's who can't miss their tiddlywink contest they have to watch. Instead of playing their football game.

Math.  You only missed by 33,000.

At that time MO WEST hadn't stepped up and will play Greeneville on Tuesday. There is nothing stopping Daniel Boone from doing the same except for FEAR....

    67,600 Elizabethton

    67,600 Greeneville

    >$100k

Popcorn was an example now add drinks, hotdogs, cowtails, pickles, hamburgers, programs, t-shirts, seat cushions, cowbells, corn dogs, candy bars, most folks spend way more than $5 at a Cyclone Football game.

That makes our season tickets $22 per game.

None of that revenue comes to our programs thanks to the coaches at Daniel Boone. They are even refuseing to pay the $5000 contract Daniel Boone had for the game and are demanding they get to keep their home game against Elizabethton next year instead of playing it in Elizabethton. TSSAA needs to hold them accountable l. They are hurting the kids and the other programs that depend on that revenue.
