When nobody wants to play you, you have to agree to away games or you have no games. The last two seasons we only had 9 games because we couldn’t find that 10th game. Some 5 and 6A teams avoid top tier 4A teams. At least Boone ain’t scared! They understand the benefits outweigh the results. I think everyone agrees each team comes away battle tested from those grudge matches. And it should be about gaining experience for the playoff run. Not wins or stats. If we wanted stats we could schedule local 1,2 and 3A schools. Like I said in an earlier post. The worst part is, for the seniors, there is no next season. No way to get back that home game they lost their senior year. I’ve told a few of them it’s an odd year (2023). So, all Region 1 champs can have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Just go out there, handle your business, and earn more home games. As much as loosing that home game against Boone hurts, I’m sure they’ll trade it for practicing on Thanksgiving Thursday again. (If you know, you know)

Seeing Greeneville and Mo West have decided to play on Tuesday. Everyone can plainly see where the problem is.....And that is DANIEL BOONE... OH WE CAN'T PLAY ON MONDAY OUR LITTLE PLAYERS NEEDS THEIR REST....

I know it's just speculation but since the Boone and Betsy game brings a good crowed thats a lot of money missing out to the host team. Mo-East shouldn't even had to be factored in to any decision since they had an away game and could have easily canceled a JV game today. (Varsity should take precedence over a JV game no matter who shares the field).  I hate we didn't finish the DB and Alcoa Game as a Greeneville fan and now missing out on a game against Morristown West, a team that was a rival in the old IMAC when i played.

Boone cancel those games easily Cost Elizabethton and Greeneville programs $100,000. Now Boone is even refusing to pay the $5000 contract price to Elizabethton in the event they canceled the game.

Will Greenville make up games with D-B and Alcoa?

Those games didn't cost thousands of dollars to other teams programs. Both got ticket sales and concessions though it may have been less. Boone and MW signed contracts to play those games. They default they need to reimburse Greeneville and Elizabethton. There is no excuse for them not to play Saturday or Sunday...NONE.

The coaches at Boone could not be bothered to give up their weekend planes to play a football game. Both games were home games for Elizabethton and Greeneville our Band makes $30 to $40K a game in concessions that's the only revenue for 300 kids playing in our band Program. Where is that money from their program going to come from? Season ticket holders now only have 3 games to watch. Banner sponsons only have 3 games who would pay $2000 a year for 3 regular season games. Both teams should be made to forfeit their games and play the games they contracted to play. Conference or no conference. They both can take a loss. TSSAA should make a rule that teams that have weather delays have 3 days to make it up without interfering with other contracted games or if other open dates allow play them then. This takes thousands of dollars out of Greeneville and Elizabethton Athletic programs that affect other sports that rely on that money. Maybe now other programs will have to be cut like Girls' Wrestling or volleyball, softball, No it's because 2 boneheaded coaches could not miss their NFL home ticket and play their football game.

What's stopping Greeneville and Betsy from playing each other? Is there a rule against playing the same team twice in the regular season? I know that would muddy the region play but it's a game!?

I'm a bit confused... since 1975 Morristown West has played Greeneville 46 times.     Since 1972 Boone has played Elizabethton 37 times.    Boone knows that every year the Elizabethton game will be a loss but we keep scheduling them anyway, year after year after year....     So in what universe are we to believe that Mo West & Boone are afraid to play these opponents?      I was under the impression that the prevailing thought here is that playing tougher opponents helped make your team better and got you more conditioned for the playoffs, so are we now saying that you should not play teams you are afraid of, instead play only cupcakes?

They both knew this year they would be mudhole stomped with Greeneville and MO West and Elizabethton and Boone. It was both away games so it doesn't hurt their pockets. No band concessions for Elizabethton or Greeneville. No tickets sales. Sponsors paying money for just 3 home games. Tssaa should allow any playoff money to stay in Greeneville and Elizabethton to make up for those games or force MW and Boone to compensate for what they have done. The Boone Elizabethton was to be televised live and BOONE new what was waiting for them in Elizabethton and those yellow bellies didn't want any part of that on live TV.

Totally agree and it hurts now greeneville is looking at a 3rd no game Tssaa needs to get there head out of their buts and do something about it but they won't cause they care more about the job than these kids! We need change from top to bottom in the tssaa !

It's Not often Elizabethton and Greeneville agree... it could be a first.

I’d have liked to see all games played and no weather problems, but let’s get this straight.  The TSSAA cares about absolutely nothing aside from conference and playoff games being played, particularly playoff games.  If this was a playoff game the TSSAA would do something.  It isn’t.  Calling for a suspension or the TSSAA doing something is moot.  Morristown West was the Home team who had a lot more say so on the game, you need to look to them.  Conference completely overrides pick up games the way everything is set up.

again, I wanted the schedule to work out and to see all games played, but it has been the weirdest year with schedules and games aside from 2020 that I can remember.

They could  have played Saturday, Sunday, Monday like everyone else. They wanted to stick it to Elizabethton after the Fight in Morristown and avoid a butt whipping by Greeneville. And Daniel Boone by Elizabethton. Both teams should be suspended.

  9. After Elizabethton stomped Mo West and was to play Boone Friday and Greeneville Mo West. Those 2 schools found a way not to have to play and lose to two smaller 4A schools. So they cheat Greeneville and Elizabethton Seniors out of a football game. TSSAA needs to suspend both teams from post season play in all sports they threatened to do that to Unaka several years ago for them not having enough healthy kids to play. Or make both forfeit and play the games scheduled. Every other teams in the state played on Saturday or Sunday. TSSAA needs new leadership when they allow kids to be hurt.

So Morristown West (the home team) had nothing to do with the decision to play on Thursday, it was 100% Boone?    I have no inside info into Boone so just asking.    But not looking for opinions, are there any facts that can be empirically authenticated about this?

You are right seeing Mo West was to play Greeneville and Elizabethton had already stomped Mo West. Both teams sought to Avoid losing to two smaller 4A schools. Both should be suspended...it's not right for the seniors to have games taken away because Teams are afraid  to play them. What good is TSSAA they need new leadership in allowing this.

  11. Daniel Boone purposely change their game to the Thursday night before The Elizabethton Game to avoid playing Elizabethton. The Game was to be televised live and now leaves Elizabethton with just 3 home games. Just because coaches had vacation planes and didn't want to play on Saturday of Sunday or even Monday like every team in the state did. A couple of years ago Unaka High had injuries to the point that they couldn't play a playoff game and TSSAA threatened to suspend Unaka in post season in all sports. Same should be done to Daniel Boone.

You sounds like a participation trophy type a fella. You're supposed to rise to the occasion not lower your standards to appease babies like you. If you wanna watch low scoring boring games watch soccer.

When your team plays in 3 straight state championships. Maybe they will do it your way.

If I’m a backup and get a chance to play  you better bet I’m going to score whenever I get a chance.

Let me pick the backups on any team against the ones on any team and I will insure you they will not score. The coaches know what they are doing.

I’ve heard he and a few others were sick Friday night. That may account for the uncharacteristic play we saw. Whatever happened, it’s Greeneville. They will have it figured out by game 10. Good coaches can change and adapt to their personnel situations. They are a threat, until they are delt with.

Had better have it figured out by game 10...because you know who that will be this year....At the Bank..

  15. By far #10 for Elizabethton is the best football player in Tennessee. He is 43‐1 sa a starting QB. His football knowledge and decision making can't be taught. He reads blocks better than anyone you have ever seen. Has a great arm and is calm under pressure. He has a point to make to the sport writers for not selecting him for a third Mr Football it should have been his year. While the rest are sitting home Saturday he will be hoisting his third gold ball. Coaching will be Elizabethton strong points. They will adjust to anything thrown at them and the players will respond and execute. They have a game plan and time of possession will favor Elizabethton and they have played 4 quarters better hope the other team is in shape. The bring 2 State Championship game MVPs to the game and if you put to much  emphasis on them the others will burn you. The oline is deep and big and will be helped by the big dline when needed. 4 year starters at guard and tackle. As far as the field goal and punting. Elizabethton hardly ever has to use them. Good luck to both teams, hope it's an injury free game and see ya in nooga....
