  1. Whats up with all of Harpeth's players being required to be early and stay late for field prep, batting practice, varsity games, jv games, and cleanup. Will they get a break. Now Jones is giving them all a varsity jersey. What a slap in the face. I thought he was gonna have two separate teams so it did not turn into last years problem of no jv games. I am getting tired of him changing his mind all the time. STICK TO WHAT YOU SAY PLEASE!!!

  2. Why are we playing a district opponent tomorrow? Does it count toward district record? If someone knows please explain. What is the plan with coaching?

I also heard we are playing 1 thursday and 1 friday instead of two friday....? is that true?

    Go Indians!!!

  3. Jones seems to have these guys lined up. Portland put up a fight. Their pitcher battled. But, he proved to me and I think everyone else that he is prepared to give up everything for our guys. They are pumped. My son and family is loving baseball and excited about baseball again for the first time in years. The Freshman Davis, coaches kid or not, put the team on his back and got HHS back in the game. I hope the bumps(that will happen this year) are small and we oercome them for a great season. Great first day and night and great enthusiasm on the hill again, or the ROCK.

  4. Apparently a few boys quit. Rumor is they cant handle Coach Jones' new discipline and commitment requirement. Not sure, but it might be addition by subtraction.

And...I hear administration is wanting to know why so many are quitting. Didn't they hire him to clean things up?

I don't like everything he does....but he is trying to improve the team mentally and physically.

Any word on Foriest? Who are the other pitchers if he is out? Presley and Morris are back but did one of them quit?

  5. The boys seem to be more of "team" yesterday. I love that. Supposedly still too much rust to see the true ability from a performance point of view. The Sunday thing still bothers me but not as bad as you guys are putting on. I know they need to play to improve and play early. I like whats going on so far. I just think the new coach should stick to his word. If he said Sundays off then he should stick to it.

FYI-I do get out of my butt up their and the field does look great. But, again, is it as important as learning the game?

  6. This new coach at Harpeth seems to be serious and know the game. However, whats up with a Sunday scrimmage in week 1 of practice. From what i understand, they haven't even been on the field this week. How are they going to be prepared for a game? From a distance the new bleachers look nice and rumor is the field is in much better condition. But, have they spent too much time on the field and not enough time practicing on "the field". Sorry to be critical, but this seems to be pushing it. I like the new guy and I think he is going to help HHS. It just might be too much of an expectation for the team to play on a Sunday after very little practice.

  7. what an idiot you look like now

Any early thoughts on 7AAA this season? Here is my preseason poll...see what you think!

    1. Siegel - Simply too many weapons to stop...with or without a healthy Gooch.

    2. Oakland - Returns Jamal Hughes and Chrsition Adams. Adds a great coach and motivater in Mike Wright.

    3. Lavergne - New transfers in the post will Help Coach Couey and the Wolevrines this season. Could possibly flip-flop with Oakland for #2.

    4. Riverdale - Riverdale will have decent athletes as always but not near as good as Siegel's or Lavergne's. Center Craig will help if he can stay out of trouble. Oakland's Wright will be offering free lessons in this match-up.

    5. Smyrna - Decent athletes but lack size. Smyrna hasn't had a decent record since the Michael Hicks era.

    6. Blackman - Again lack a post presence but do have a good PG in Smith. Could possibly edge out Smyrna and Riverdale before the season is over.

Again the season is a couple of months away but I just wanted to get this new and exciting district started. Good luck to all teams and coaches.

  8. Not so fast Bigster...Humboldt had a bad shooting night but anyone who's watched Humboldt play this year knows that Brooks can put up a lot of points in a hurry if he catches fire...As I've already said earlier this season, he changes games...If he's on, this team is very tough...I expect us to be more focused against UC...Guess we will find out Tuesday :)

Come on Red..Read my posts..I have said that I thought Antonio Brooks was yall's true shooter in my opinion..Campbell and Dunbar are maybe's..depending on a certain night..We have plenty of those..Like Zebra said below..everyone has bad shooting nights..That's what happened to us against Humboldt..lol..!

Thats true last Tuesday night Humboldt shot 66% from the field and LC shot 31%. If LC just had a bad shooting night that is part of the game! Anyone on here that thinks Humboldt is 40 points better than LC is completely insane! It will be a closer game the next time they meet!

Everyone knows if Humboldt played Milan again that it would most llikely be a blow off! But like i stated it happens! The name of the game now is for both teams to get their heads on straight alot of BB yet to be played! :roflol:

Humboldt will take the post season...

  9. I am not being sarcastic. If he puts in the effort and attitude, he could find a way to play D1 ball. But no way with both sports. It takes a huge commitment to play at that level. And, even if he dont he can still have a great post-high school career.

  10. :roflol: Geez guys. Are we going to play the games this year or not?

A lot of things can happen between the middle of March and May and we're talking about which pitcher is gonna lose in which round? Dang! You guys oughta play the lottery.

I'm going to agree with the Harpeth and Creek Wood going 1,2 in some order and having deep enough pitching to advance in post season IF their bats come around.

It is fun to play predictions out in your head. However, I agree. Walkin instead of talkin...

  11. He stood out last year, but this year I heard several East Hickman parents state that he was the best all around player they have seen on a High School court. He was unstoppable and his hard work has paid off. As for baseball I know he is also a stand out. After he played us last year in basketball I knew he would be better this year......but WOW. Any college coach watching him play surly will overlook the size factor, he is gonna put up points and get the ball downcourt no matter how big the others are. I hope he gets picked up and gets a good Scholarship.

Chipper has a chance to be a two sport athlete at a small college.

That would be nice but we are just hoping for one or the other.

I have heard how good Chipper is and I would expect that he needs to talk to colleges about playing two sports. Or pick a sport and shoot for the D1 College stars.
