  1. I've known Coach Wright for a number of years. He is an excellent coach and a top notch guy. I hope that if he is truly interested in going back to the high school ranks he gives Seymour serious consideration. The eagles have seen their fair share of success, and I think Coach Wright would be a tremendous success there.

  2. Jermaine Shephard from Clinton should definitely be on this least. He was Nate Robinson before Nate Robinson was. This guy was well under 6 feet tall and could easily drop 30 points and excite the crowd with electrifying dunks. One of the greatest 2 sport athletes this state has ever seen.

Halston Lane from Oak Ridge was a top notch player as well. He signed and played for Georgia Tech out of high school before transferring to a smaller venue.

Travis Williams from Oliver Springs was a great PG. Scored over 2,000 career points and led a team from the AA cellar to back-to-back state tournaments.

  3. does anybody what the deal is with the clinton player that got ejected? ive heard rumors that he is done for the year and others are saying he only got a 2 game suspension. anybody know anything for sure?

The Williams kid got a 5 game suspension. I think this is his second ejection of the year. I am shocked that he will be allowed to return (assuming CHS advances that far). CHS has enough bad press going on right now without this type of stuff making an already bad situation worse. I think part of the punishment should be that his mother sit out for 5 games as well. Most fans Clinton or otherwise can agree that she is nuts!

  4. Get used to the plodding style of play, been like that everywhere Wortman's coached!

It looks like the O.R. administration made this hire based in large part on Coach Wortman's college experience and not necessarily his basketball philosophy. They are young, but they have too much talent to be under .500 and losing to Hardin Valley. They need to speed the tempo up and leave Rian Hall out on the floor for longer stretches. Having seen O.R. play a couple times it doesn't look like much is happening on the bench. The games that I have attended Wortman and his entire staff are sitting and not saying much. This is wildly different than when Norris was running things.

  5. not enough people are talkin about the clinton high basketball team. unbeaten in district play, and 11-2 on the season..... coach lockard the best coach in the district has his squad playin at a very high level just like i said they would..... the way im hearing cj alred is playin, he might be the best player in the district.... look out for the dragons...... cant wait until next tues.... ill def. be at that game vs the COWS.... please beat them punks.... i cant stand em.....

The best coach in the district? REALLY? Try not to start drinking until the afternoon from now on. I agree with you about Alred. He's a good player and a great kid. He has way to much class and self-respect to be playing at CHS.

  6. i cant wait until next tuesday cow fans.... its gonna be a battle out at your place..... i wont talk to much because the cows are really good this season with smith leading them, but stone will have him on lock and run him to death all night, worthington will also be on lockdown by Williams (the free saftey on our football team) so it could be a long night for you guys especially if alred is hitting like i heard he was the other night..... good luck getting ready for us,, could be another sweep like last year :flower:

I thought you said you weren't going to talk to much. I don't think you have the ability to keep quiet. It will be good for you to get out of the bad side of town and mingle with the classy people of ACHS.

  7. I have never been to Middleton. In fact I couldn't even tell you where it is. However, a school in my area has done the same thing. I was at a game in that environment 2 years ago and it was miserable. It finally stopped after several complaints reached Central Office. The home team was practicing with the heat turned WAY up so they could get used to playing in it. That is where the competitive advantage comes in. This is a low class attempt at getting some home wins.

  8. It's all politics. Of course it is decided by the AP and coaches.

Look at it like this..... I'm going to use Triple A Mr. Basketball candidates for example.

Let's say Joe Jackson from Memphis White Station gets nominated and Casey Prather from Jackson NS gets nominated. They are definately 2 of the top players in the state. Then, you have some kid over in East TN that is a candidate, however isn't on the same level as Joe or Casey, but is still a candidate. The kid from East TN will win due to the fact that the votes in the West/Middle will split with Joe and Casey and all the East TN AP votes the East TN kid. I just pray it doesn't wind up that way this year with votes being split and the REAL Mr. Basketball player wins Mr. Basketball. Just my 2 cents after last year.

First of all players from the Memphis area have won more than a few Mr. Basketball awards. Second, you act as though the kid that won in AAA last year was nothing special. He averaged over 30 points and 15 rebounds per game. That is exceptional whether you are from Memphis, Knoxville, or somewhere in the middle.

  9. Saw where AE beat Carter by 3. Just wondering how Pryor is eligible? He flunked every course in the Spring, didn't make Summer school, and has had multiple discipline issues this Fall to the point where people said he was kicked out of school. Maybe he was just suspended and not expelled like many sources were saying, but how does he pass his classes? In the Sentinel's article, Coach Mitchell said the administration made the decision to let him play. What about his grades? Has he been cleared by TSSAA? This is a joke! AE=Always Eligible.

Most school distrcits have what is known as "Credit Recovery". This allows students to work independently on course work until they complete and recover the credit. I don't know how TSSAA views such a program...The whole thing looks shady.

  10. Have now lost to AE, Gibbs, and Fulton in the district. I think seeding in the district tournament will be very big this year with Gibbs, Union, AE, GP, Carter, and Fulton all able to compete to a certain degree.

Some of these losses are much worse than usual.

Unless I am mistaken AE beat them without Pryor. This AE team is somewhat depleted having lost atleast 4 players to graduation (Jones Brothers), transfers (Lopez), or other issues (Pryor).

Gibbs has been a mediocre at best team for quite some time. They have a great freshman in Cade, but they should not have been able to play with Carter.

Fulton has to be the most embarrassing loss. Not because Fulton is a bad team...everyone knows they are the best in East TN all classes...maybe in the entire state. However, Wilson only managed to score 11 points and no one else reached double figures. Not to mention they were dismantled.

I for one thought Carter would be a much better team than they have proven to be thus far. After all Wilson and Bennett are one of the most talented duos in East TN.

  11. Let me intervene and break this down for everybody. The cows coaching staff has a whole lot to prove befor they can say they have the tradition of the Dragons. Look at the staff

    1. Derek Wallace-finally out from the shadow of Eldridge doing a solid job for now

    2. Nick Lollar- waiting for a golf coaching job to open

    4. Travis Tummell- at central befor they were good so we know hes no good. i dont htink he even shows up to varsity games but that may be a good thing

    5. Trent Mcnelley- another middle school coach and jv at that who is more worried about being called coach than actually helping kids

Wallace, you need to evaluate your staff with a little more help this could be a very solid 3a program

First of all McNeeley is not a member of the AC coaching staff. He simply helps out during games. I can

assure you that he cares about the kids he coaches.

Coach Tummell does an excellent job with the freshmen at AC. He places great emphasis on playing fundamental basketball.

Lollar does a great job as both a JV coach and a Varsity assistant coach. He knows the game better than most people realize and the players respond well to his coaching.

Coach Wallace is definitely not in anyone's shadow! He has done an excellent job since taking over the AC program.

  12. Whatever 2002....... go ahead an jumb on the cow bandwagon..... what a clinton fan....... u can tell u no alot about good bball coaches!!!!! NOT.... well ok 1, but it sure aint Lollar....haha

2002 makes some good points and based on his writing it is clear that he has higher than a 5th grade education. To bad we can't say the same for you. You must be a product of the Clinton City School System. As far as your comment about making a sub state game is concerned, I don't see the relevance. If you had to play the likes of Fulton and Austin East in the region every year you guys wouldn't have made it to a sub state game or a region final either. The bottom line is CHS has better talent than AC most years and yet they find a way to lose. I think that instead of the CHS gym being named after Coach Don Lockard they should change it to the "Mark Eldridge-Derek Wallace Gymnasium" because they flat out own you losers.

Now warrior, Don't let trash talk get you upset and make you write comments that are crazy to. Dfan is way off on some his post, so dont be like him. Yes AC used to play some very tough teams in their region, so did Clinton. Bearden, Farragut, Maryville just to name a few, and the Oak Ridge teams in the 90's were just as good as Fulton and AE. So the Clinton coaches deserve a little respect to. And coach Don Lockard is a legend, and Coach Eldridge and Coach Wallace are both great coaches, but not near at his level yet! I might be off but how has AC owned Clinton in basketball? I might have missed something so please explain! And if Coach Gilliam (great coach) would have beaten Clinton with Weston both times, than yes he might have deserved what you are saying, but he didn't so dont think that would work either.

Coach Eldridge has a state championship. That is more than I can say for Don Lockard.

  13. Whatever 2002....... go ahead an jumb on the cow bandwagon..... what a clinton fan....... u can tell u no alot about good bball coaches!!!!! NOT.... well ok 1, but it sure aint Lollar....haha

While they are at it maybe they should name the football field after Davey Gillum...wait a second CHS doesn't have their own field. You guys had better check with the city of Clinton before you do that. :roflol:

  15. Congrats to CAK on tonights victory over Scott Co to win the Grace tourny. Looks like these teams have two really good games to look forward to later on in the season when they meet in their district games. Scott can shoot the 3's. CAK hustled themselves to a victory with some timely shots, a couple of threes and some good defense. #35 Parker was MVP of the tourny and deserved it. He has added a great deal to this team. This was a big win for the CAK program, especially after losing a starter last night to a knee injury. The Warriors have already matched the number of victories they had the entire season last year, 5. Keep it up guys.

Hope some coacht readers from the other schools in the district will post and give us some info about their teams.

Who did CAK lose to injury?

  16. I agree Barnes will be a tough one to replace. He's the Ed Orgeron of Knox County basketball.

I think Lollar at Anderson County is one of the best young coaches in this area. He will make a great head coach one day. Coach Cupples and Tummel at AC are also tremendous. Coach Wallace has himself a great coaching staff.

I think Lollar's only defeat last year was in the last game of the season. I see him in D1 within the next 5 years

I agree! Lollar is a great coach! Pearl needs to fire Aaron Green and put the great Lollar in his place. He has more knowledge and hair on his head. I heard a rumor that Lollar was going to replace Lambert at Maryville following this season. What have you heard?

  17. 1) Fulton

    2) West

    4) Central
