  1. Give the new coach time to implement his system and wait a few years... and what is key is to get spring station middle to run his exact system and sit back and watch summit football improve... Maryville, Fulton, and Alcoa weren't built overnight .. Stay Patient and tell future Spartans to outwork their opponents everyday

  2. With baseball they suspended Houston high schools season after a bench clearing brawl I think with Christian Brothers wonder if they will do the same... this could shake up the playoff picture a bit.... Could shake up the quad of Death 2 and move a team or two to quad 1.

  3. the outlook is very serious now ..... please stop and pray even if you don't know Coach Mac... here is the article from the tennessean......

Lipscomb Academy football coach Glenn McCadams has returned to the hospital following recent surgery and is in “serious condition,†according to longtime friend and fellow faculty member Mark Pugh.

“He was hospitalized a couple of weeks ago and underwent successful surgery,†Pugh said Wednesday, referring to a procedure on March 7 to remove a series of tumors. “He went home and things had been looking pretty positive, but they made a turn for the worse.

“He returned to the hospital early Tuesday morning.â€

Pugh was unsure whether McCadams’ condition is related to his previous surgery. He declined to disclose where McCadams is hospitalized, out of respect for the family’s privacy.

McCadams has stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma.

McCadams, 66, has coached at Lipscomb for the past 31 years, leading the program to state championships in 1994, 2002 and 2007 and runner-up finishes in 1998, 2003, 2005 and 2006. Over his 37-year head coaching career, he has won 315 games, making him one of the state’s winningest active coaches.

  4. Camille Cross kicked for Friendship Christian last season and scored something like 59 points I think

I wasn't trying to put anyone on a pedastal here. I was just curious. There have not been many female football players in East Tennessee (I don't anything about West TN), so this was merely for my own personal curiousity. Sorry if I offended you by sounding sexist or racist or weightist. LOL.

  5. THis game will be a blow out. Goodluck Whitehouse you will need it.

White House once again travels in the playoffs; this time to the high scoring Liberty Magnet Crusaders. They put up 56 on Bolivar Central so can the Devils contain the speed? I've heard they are a lot like Springfield with the team speed which WH hasn't played well against this season. It's the playoffs so anything can happen...just ask Beech and Oakland. I'd love to see a huge turn out in Jackson next Friday from BDP!! Throw the records out, it's playoff time! Love to hear some scouting reports on LM. Good luck Devils!

  6. Northside would beat dyer county 99 out of 100 times, i have scene both teams play and Northside is far better. Ripley vs. Obion is a good matchup this year, but Northside is far better then the Choctaws, and they have better athletes then DC. DC runs the Spread and the main concept in the Spread is to put your athletes in space, but Northside has better athletes who can man them up or even cover alot of space and not have problem. I will take Northside by 25.

North Side is playing well but I am sure they will not overlook anyone. It is very hard to beat a team twice! Just ask Obion County. Have to take care of the Choctaws.

  7. You can talk all you want about Boone's d-fense but it is not as good as you think. Knox West wins this game with ease.

I guess my question is more can the tssaa look at film and suspend more players? These boys are gonna protect each other and I respect that. I'm not a fan of the fighting and such tho. I hope that this will be a lesson learned for everyone involved including the tssaa.

  8. stinks for ripley to have a slew of athletes and get beat by non athletes /

The OC Rebels will have to muster up a repeat of their Week 10 effort to advance in the Class 4A Playoffs...

The Rebels will travel to Ripley to face a team that they just beat Thursday night in Troy by the score of 44-15....

The Rebels dominated the game in the second half by allowing only one Ripley first down and outscoring the Tigers 28-0...

The Rebels LaDevin Fair had a huge night rushing for 236 yards on 29 carries after being questionable for the game after a sternum injury he suffered in the Gibson County game a week earlier...The Rebs passing attack was on target as well as Trey Phipps passed for 186 yards on 16 for 24 passing...

The Rebs have a 2000 yard passer (Phipps is 162-261 for 2228 yards and 18 TDs..He has been picked 8 times) and a 1000 yard rusher (Fair has 1031 yards on 160 carries and 15 rushing TDs)..The Rebs also have 5 receivers with over 20 catches for over 260 yards...

  9. Ripley by 9

Yes...there is another game in the county that night and will be South Fulton & Union City.

As for the Rebels....It will be very interesting to see how the Rebels handle pressure. This game is pressure!! This is a place they have been before and usually does not win. If the Rebels can play without turnovers and stupid yellow flags everywhere..they should have a good chance. The Rebels lso have to have a good mixture of passing and running. I said you have to have both and running is much more important but Fair HAS TO HAVE over 100 yards running with a passing attack of 250 yrds to win. Otherwise from two different people who has seen both teams up close during the season and against other teams the rebels have played...Ripley by 17 points.

As for the possible playoffs...the Rebels would be in now as the #6 seed in their quad playing the Greenbrier Bobcats if the season ended week nine. . Greenbrier is 6 and 3 over all and 3 and 1 in their district. They have beaten former powerhouse schools like Portland and Whitehouse this year. I did check and their district is very tight and tough. Good luck Rebels...

  10. I have heard that at Lipscomb they start off their thursday practice by everybody huddled around the field goal post, and when the head coach walks out they kick a field goal, it is usually a DB snapping a LB holding, and the fattest guy on the team kicking the field goal, and another player mixed in with the rest of the team with a ball ready to throw it through the uprights if he misses it, and then everybody cheers and practice then starts.

What are some other ones or neat or funny things that happen throughout the state?
