  1. Shep / Moto (all other JB folks),

Will you please tell me your favorite places to eat (not too far from the high school)?  Something local - no chains.

    Thanks.

There are a lot of great places to eat, but nothing beats JB's concession stand!  Seriously, those folks do it right!!

  2. They will not be as good. Lost Booker. Defense was not very good. Saw them play collinwood and without booker they would have lost 45-7. I dont see them as a top ten team. But who really knows.

No doubt Booker was a huge talent. Any word on colleges for him? Will he take football or track?
  3. Got to see these 2 teams play earlier this year. If I remember correctly, CA scored easily until their QB went down in the middle of the game. NCS' running back busted a couple of very long runs for scores. I think one was 90+ yards. Are both teams healthy, in particular CA's quarterback and the NCS running back?

  4. Of Booker's yardage, 90 yards was on the one break down the field for the touchdown.

Congrats to CA on a great game. Easy to see why they are picked to win the district. NC's Booker is fun to watch. Breakaway speed is second to none. Hope he's getting some looks.
  5. What i dont think you understand is that it isnt the Jordan Bedwell show. Johnny Bailey can dribble Reid can shoot and play defense Ray is a great driver and defensive player. I dont know the other starter but Allison is a big force inside always ready to be physical ( sometimes can get out of hand and foul a lot) but you need that on a team. Then you have Cunningham who if he wasnt soft he could do damage. Then they have the 6'8 Jordan Bedwell. Now dont get me wrong Mcewen is a great team and i think this will be a great matchup but i think you are underestimating heritage.

Who was the blonde headed kid that played PG for WHH last year? Is he one of the guys listed above?

  6. Its should come down to WHH, McEwen and NCS for the district. The Regionals shouldn't be a problem for any of these teams unless some big improvements are made in other district. McEwen and NCS beat each other last year in regular season. WHH has the posts, McEwen and NCS have the guards. It will be a fun year for sure.

  7. Great "Play Day" ran by Coach Wilson and the folks at Harpeth! All 3 gyms were very accomodating, concession stands, good officiating, great competition, etc... I would encourage any local or midstate teams to participate next year if Harpeth decides to host again.

  8. $100 team fee for 3 games. Games will held in 3 gyms on Harpeth campus. Last 3 years this playday has drawn a minimum of 3 state tournament teams.

Contact Jamie Wilson at Harpeth High, 952-2811.

Any update on teams playing at Harpeth this weekend? Would love to see a schedule if anyone knows.

  9. What about NCS line, havnt heard much about them. WC line aint the biggest you will see but will definatly be the toughest, they really like to mix it up, and the rougher the better.

Great question cause thats really what its all about. Both teams have great players making big plays, but none of it possible without the big boys up front. NCS line, for the most part, has given Ogle (QB) all the time he needs to make the pass, or Weiss the hole to power through. I rarely recall anybody getting to Ogle this year. Obviously, JB did the best job against NCS line, but it was a pretty fair matchup. Depth is always the problem for NCS. Size wise, I don't know how they compare to WC. I can't think of a team they've played that is bigger than them (maybe Hillwood, possibly JB). Has anybody seen both NCS and WC play this year? Not on film, but seen both in person?

  10. Football is all about matchups! NCS might not have matched up with Zion as good as other teams have.

Agree 100% dmoney1nc. No team can play their BEST game EVERY game, and not every team plays weak to your strengths. NCS came out of the gates very slow that night. If I remember correctly, NCS had more than a couple of guys banged up, and did have to put it together in the 2nd half to get the win. That actually tells me more about this team than anything. They were down. Did they panic? No. If theres one thing that Brother's has done this year, its keeping these guys from looking ahead. WC is not even in their heads right now. Its CA, and only CA.

  11. 1. Sycamore (very tough place to play, i mean students were on the court.)

    2. Bolivar (they rock it in MEmpHis)

    3. Macon Co. (very country town that cares about their basketball.)

    4. David Lipscomb (always hard to play there with the crowd.)

Lipscomb can be a tough place to play, but the students do more funny, goofy things, that definitely distract the players. For example, the Visitors may be at the freethrow line, and just as the player gets ready to shoot, a 7 ft. banana may go running by on the baseline, under the goal. On the second shot, a huge gorilla may take the same route, chasing the banana. They absolutely brought Z. Mason from CPA to his knees, laughing as he put up the shot. Or, Lipscomb is real good at finding out the girls name who just broke up with a player, and shout her name every time that player touches the ball. I have not been to Bolivar, but can say they absolutely let it be known they were in the gym in Murfreesboro. Big and Loud crowd!!

  12. N C S WILL STRUGGLE AT FIRST .WILL BE REAL YOUNG.DONT KNOW THAT THEY HAVE A PLAYER WHO WILL BE ABLE TO CREATE SHOTS ON THERE ON.LOST LOT OF TOUGHNESS WITH KEY LOSSES!N C S COACHES WILL HAVE TO WORK HARDER THAN EVER BEFORE .

Agreed. I'm just thinking they will have to rely more on teamwork this year, instead of relying on one or two players to step up every game. A couple of these Soph's have talent, but (as most Freshmen) did not show just how talented I think they really were last year. A couple of this years Freshmen (at least one of them for sure) are aggressive and have some skills. I think after Christmas, they should be coming together and be competitive in the district. Depth will certainly be a problem. No doubt. Your right, the coaches have a young team and will have to work hard. I think they've got a good group of girls though to build on!!

  13. Walt Andrews is the kid from McEwen your thinking of... He graduated and I belive he is now playing for Bethel in McKenzie, TN...

McEwen should have a new center in this year that transferred in, 6'6" kid that should fit in the system pretty well... If he gets playing time early on... McEwen could challenge Clarksville Academy by Feburary...

Your right. Just looked up Bethel's website and there he is. List him at 6'8 on their roster. Good for him!!

  14. The twins are gone from McEwen, but the new backcourt might be the best in the district with Garrett Mullinacks and David Harbison... Better vision, more reliable... If they find a guy that can step up in the middle to grab rebounds and put backs they should be very tough...

Thinking of McEwen, did the big boy graduate? This kid was a force in the middle, good ball player. I think a McEwen parent told me that he actually just started playing a year or two ago. I can't remember his name. I gotta get my basketball brain working again!

  15. Definitely looking forward to traveling to JB for this one. NCS has had an awesome year, and now have an opportunity to play for the district championship! Who wouldn't want to be in this position? NCS is getting the chance to put it on the line against the best in the district, year in and year out. I'll be surprised if there are alot of comments from NCS fans on this thread this week. Brother's has them playing one game at a time, and this week is no different, even though it is against JB. JB has the football tradition. Nobody can argue that for sure, and true NCS fans know that. If I remember correctly, NCS actually honored the JB football team before last years JB/NCS basketball game at NCS, congratulating JB on a tremendous season. To say that is to say this: NCS knows what their running into next Friday. Sure JB is the favorite, but NCS is playing good ball. Lets kick it off and see what happens. It should be a fun game for sure!!
