  2. Chattanooga Wrestling send Special thanks to Mark Hull and Carl Perry for an amazing job this past weekend with the 3-D coaches clinic. Coaches were challenged to really take a step back and view what kind of coaches they were and what direction they wanted to start moving towards. Mark Hull, fellowship of Christian athletics (FCA) director touched on many points and stirred up great discussion topics with the coaches. Mark realizes how much of a role a “Coach†has and really made it a point to share his perspective. Every coach would benefit from using these strategies and morals to better themselves as a coach as well as their programs. Carl Perry, National FCA wrestling director went over technique with wrestlers who were able to gain valuable knowledge in different wrestling positions. The high school wrestlers really enjoyed working with Carl and were pushed to become a better wrestler on mat and spiritually off the mat. Also, big thanks to all of the high school wrestling coaches and athletic directors who made it out to the clinic. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. Thanks to everyone for the support and help. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions! Be sure to check out our video from this weekend on Facebook located below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z27_4FIU4AM&feature=player_embedded “Chattanooga Strongâ€

  4. Three Dimensional Coaching “Capturing the heart of the Athlete†OCTOBER 1, 2011- Saturday University of Tennessee at Chattanooga!! Featuring- CARL PERRY- 2000 Natl. Champion MARK HULL- State Director, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Being a 3-dimensional coach means that you are 1) fundamentally sound; 2) skilled at coaching the mind/motivation of the athlete and most importantly 3) focused on capturing and developing the heart of the player. One significant justification for sports participation is that it builds character. This presumption has become one of the unquestioned truisms of sports. The results are in: The longer an athlete participates in competitive sports the less they make good moral decisions. We spend our time coaching tactics and technique, we also need a game plan to coach for character and significance. In our time together we will discuss philosophically, spiritually and very practically what can be done to seize the great opportunity to use the incredibly powerful position of “coach†to positively shape the total athlete. Topics Addressed • 3 Dimensional Coaching Pyramid • Coaching the Heart for Character and Significance • Transactional vs. Transformational Coaching • Developing “Mindsight†by answering 4 Key Questions of Coaching • Creating and directing difficult situations toward a positive outcome. • Understanding the formula for change as it applies to coaching and programs. About the presenter: Mark Hull has spent the last 23 years working with coaches seeing first-hand the pressurized world of sports and the highs and lows of coaching. A former teacher and coach and a parent of three children who’ve come through the club, scholastic and collegiate programs, he’s seen the potential and pitfalls in all of it. For the last six years he’s served as the “character coach†for the UW-Eau Claire football team, expanding that role to work with the UWEC women’s softball and soccer teams. Mark has also been a presenter for USA Wrestling’s Coaches School at the Olympic Training Centers in Colorado Springs and Lake Placid along with high school coaching staffs in Wisconsin.
