Congratulations to Sevier Co. They had a good game plan and stuck to it. We made far too many mistakes to win and yet was inches from tying it up from 45 feet at the end. It was a good game none the less.

Yes. The satellite games(first round) are on the 13th(girls) and 14th(boys) with a home game for the higher seeds 1,2,3, and 4. The semifinal games will be at Cherokee beginning Thursday for the girls and Friday for the boys. The region tournament is also at Cherokee.

Cherokee did not do what they had been earlier in the year , turn the ball over. They controlled the boards all night, shot the 3 well, and pounded it inside. This was a complete game for them and I hope it means they are peaking at the right time. Our prayers go up to the injured player. We have lost 3 girls due to torn ACL's this year and we know what it is like.

Back to your post about player of the year. Wheeler may get it because they won first place but he played poorly against us both times. Schmidt did not play in our first meeting but he played great in the second. Scales has has a solid year but not quite as individually impressive as last year. He has had more help. Ty Ryan's played as good a game last night as I have ever seen him have. It will be interesting when the coaches vote to say the least.

East wins 52-44. Cherokee was ahead until about 3 min left. Chiefs only shot two free throws all night and that was on a technical. Hurricanes only managed to commit 7 fouls for the whole game. Regardless of that congrats to them. They won it.

Morristown East is playing good basketball right now and I've never talked to Him or heard anyone else talk to him when he wasn't confident. I'd probably be more surprised if he acted like Bill Belichick and bragged on Cherokee. We shot the ball VERY well in the first game and it would be unlikely that we would shoot that well this time, but we won that game with our defense and our defense has been consistently good for most of the year.

If anyone other than one of those 3 won it , I would be surprised. It probably needs to go to the one that secures the conference championship. Scales has been solid all year. I have not seen the conference stats. Are they posted on any websites?

Yes, Sevier Co. played great at the end of the game and my Chiefs fell apart. Sevier Co. took care of the ball with patience all night whereas we turned it over at the end of the game and took shots when we should have held it. I do have to congratulate the Chiefs on a good win tonight over Greeneville.

How did the games go tonight?

Tonights final should be a good one. I can see it going either way. Hairston is the best point guard Mentor has seen and I think with him and their length they will be able to get past their press. I also would add that if the right officials (or wrong depending on your preference) call this game, Christ School will be shootin 1 and 1 with 5 minutes to go in the first quarter.

I heard Coach Martin from UT was there to watch the Craigmont game. I think he might have been there to see one point guard and left with the other point guard's name. Great game played by James Scales and Ty Ryans too.

Yes that is the correct score. Cherokee played a great defensive game and shot the ball well enough when they had to.

Cherokee certainly did not shoot the ball well in the first half against SC Friday. Sevier Co. is more patient with the ball than almost any other high school team I have ever saw. They kept the Chiefs from having alot of possessions. In the 2 nd half the Chiefs caused several turnovers and shot it better. 25 point win at home certainly does not guarantee a win at Morristown East. By the way , does anyone know how Casey Smith's foot is? Because he was limping badly in the second half last week.

What dou you think about it so far?

Yes. He was 3 for 3 from three. He did limp a little late in the game. Wheeler really had trouble driving to the bucket. He committed a few charges and fouled out midway through the fourth. Sophomore Tanner Trent did a great job on him.

It was at Cherokee though.
