  1. I think you are probably right.  I think Middleton may very well go undefeated during the regular season.  And I  think it is pretty much a toss up amongst the other 6 teams.  I think there will be some good games to watch to see who can finish in the 2, 3 and 4 positions.

  2. Final score from Scotts Hill-Frank Hughes game....50-43 Frank Hughes:)

Looks like I was wrong on this one.  I thought Scotts Hill would probably win this one in a close game on their home court. I did see this game and it was a good hard fought game.  I think FH does have a good team.  I have also seen Perry County play and I think at this point in the season PC may be the better team, but this is certainly still to be determined heads up.  I think Perry County beat Riverside tonight 54-32.  I think Scotts Hill and Riverside are pretty comparable and it should be a close hard fought game when they play.  I think Scotts Hill and Riverside are probably middle of the pack in District 15A.

  3. Middleton wins 51 to 37.  Looks like I over estimated Riverside with my prediction.  The only thing I got right in my prediction (Riverside wins 55 to 51) was Middleton's score (51) while Riverside fell 18 points short.    It appears Middleton is adjusting pretty good without Faulkner.

I did not get a chance to see the game.  Can anybody out there that saw the game provide some feedback on the game?

Bullshark--Your earlier prediction that Middleton wins by 12 was pretty much dead on.

  4. I should remove my previous post because I have now seen TCA, JCS and Riverside play multiple times.  Riverside simply does not have the athletes to compete with Middleton even without Deja. TCA and JCS are average at best.  I think Middleton wins by 12 at home on Jan 30th and gets a first round by in the district tournament..  Where are the district semis and finals being played this year?

Bullshark--I believe the district tournament semis and finals are at Adamsville this year and the Regional semis and finals are at TCA.

I will agree that Middleton definitely has the edge in athleticism, but Riverside has an experienced team that play together well as a team (most of the starters have been playing together since junior high).  They are aggressive and physical and are the type of team that can give Middleton a real challenge.  Don't be surprised if Riverside pulls off the upset on Middleton's home floor.  As usual, when two good teams play the outcome usually depends on who brings their "A" game and how the "break"s of the game go.  Certainly Middleton is favored to win, but I'll go out on a limb and predict Riverside wins by 4 (55 to 51).  Should be a good game.

  5. Even though Middleton (without Faulkner) beat Riverside by 1 point earlier in the season, I believe without Faulkner( during the remainder of the season), Middleton faces a real threat from Riverside.  I think Riverside will probably beat Middleton on Jan 30th and will finish in 1st place in the district for the regular season.  It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out (for regular season and tournaments).

  6. Don't get me wrong, there are some bad coaches out here, but there are also some great ones.

As for Deja, I reallllllly hate it for her and this Middleton team. With her, I don't think anyone in Single A touches them.... Without her, they still have a chance as they're extremely athletic and can all shoot the three ball... Rachelle Parks can still hold her own in the post. It will all depend on how the rest of the team reacts to Deja's injury....

If Faulkner is out for the rest of the season I think Middleton's chances to win the Gold ball are reduced significantly. They are a good team without

Faulkner but I don't think they are a state champion team. If Riverside has a good game when they go to Middleton on Jan 30th, I think they will beat Middleton. And since Middleton only beat Riverside by 1 point in their first meeting earlier in the season and if Riverside wins by more than 1 point, then I think Riverside wins the district and Middleton finishes 2nd.

  7. As history has proven, anything can happen during the course of a season.  But assuming all the teams are able to maintain their roster and not lose any key players to injury or other reasons, then my current thoughts are:

I think Middleton is clearly the favorite and should be able to control their on destiny.  However, I believe that are 2 or 3 teams that could sneak up on Middleton if Middleton does not maintain their focus and forgets to bring their "A" game.

I think Riverside and Scotts Hill may fight it out for 2nd and 3rd.  Riverside only lost 1 starter from the good team they had last year.  Scotts Hill lost 4 starters from last year's team but I think they will have a good young team that could prove to very competitive once they get some game experience under their belts.

I think TCA should fall in about 4th but could prove to be a real challenger for the 2nd or 3rd position as they have some good key players returning from last year's team.

I think Madison may come in about 5th depending on the play they get from Smith and Murphy and the supporting cast.

I think JCS and Adamsville may duke it out for the 6 and 7 position.  JCS lost 5 or 6 seniors from last year's team and Adamsville will need to prove that they can compete this year but could prove to be a spoiler for a few teams.

As always, I think there's going to be some good basketball games to see in district 15A this year.  Good luck to all the teams.  Stay healthy, play hard and play with good sportsmanship.

  8. Yea GET OVER IT. UC is a very deserving team. It don't matter what style of ball they are labelled with playing there is just one thing to say IT WORKS. I think, but I maybe wrong the Meigs girls game was the closest UC has had all year long and it really was never a question. So to all non believers UC is for real. Sorry JC no ball this year.

Just a shout out from District 15A, the Meigs game is not the closet game Union City has had this year.  They beat Middleton by 2 points making a shot at the final horn (I think it was 34 to 32) on their home court in the sectional tournament.  I have not seen UC play this year, but from what I've heard they are pretty awesome.  I also pick UC to take care of business and take home the gold ball this year

  9. Guess I'll have to agree with Devilfanatic on the top teams,so from the top down JC and UC are the clear favorites and have been all season.Moore Co.,C'range,Summertown,North Greene, and maybe Greenfield could get hot and give someone problems.15 A has four good teams who all have about the same chance of making the 'Boro, whichever wins region 8 and avoids Union city has a decent shot at Greenfield(or whomever the region 7 second seed is,but in my opinion none are good enough to have a shot at playing on Saturday.

I think the the 4 teams that will will be playing for the two tickets to the Boro will probably be Union City, South Fulton, Madison and Scotts Hill. Union City is clearly a favorite and will make it to the final 8. I think the winner of Region 8A may get the other ticket, but I wouldn't want to bet on it. Whoever wants the 2nd ticket better bring their "A" game to the substate game on Saturday. I think this years state tournament will be exciting and fun to watch.

  10. Not saying that there's no chance, but picking Scotts Hill is a longshot.Middleton and Madison are capable of beating them in district or region play.Due to matchups Middleton will beat Madison pretty comfortably, but both give the Lady Lions trouble, and whomever they face in district, most likely it'll be the other(or both) in regionals. Then in substate you most likely have two top ten teams in Union City and Gleason, and if not Dresden,Huntingdon,Greenfield,Lake Co,Bradford,ect...are all quality teams capable of making the "show".

TraderTwo, I guess we will see Friday night if Gleason or Scotts Hill will advance or be eliminated. By the way, I don't believe I ever saw your predictions of who will make it to the Boro.

  11. I agree with Camper's earlier post. My final eight teams are:

    Cosby

    Oliver Springs

    Clarkrange

    Jackson County

    Moore County

    Summertown

    Union City

    Scotts Hill

The road to the "Boro" is filled with hazards. There will certainly be some very good teams that will not complete the journey. However, it won't be long now until we will see who was able to navigate to the final 8 and compete for the "Gold Ball".

  12. Scotts Hill did lose one senior starter, but she was injured early in the season last year and was out for the season. So Scotts Hill will basically have the same returning team and should be a strong competitor for the district 15A championship.

Middleton did not have any seniors on last year's team. Middleton will also have the same returning team from last year and should also compete for the 15A title.

Madison may have lost a couple of seniors from last year's team but they have plenty of returning talent and probably should be considered the the early favorite to claim the 15A title. However, with this being said I think the district 15A title is up for grabs this year. I also think that there are a couple of other teams that could prove to be tough competition.

It should be an exciting race for the the district 15A championship.

  13. Have to give you credit, you called the S.H.-Middleton game right down to the score.I think Coach Berkley gave us a gift by not using his press until it was too late,as they cut into a double digit lead and got the score back to four once he applied it.Adamsville continues to be a Jeckyl and Hyde team, and the meek Dr.Jeckyl showed up tonight.Region could get interesting if Scotts Hill continues to improve as rapidly as in the last week or two,the heart of a champion...and Coach Chandler might just have a little magic left this season.

Middleton has a lot of quickness and a good press, but I'm pretty sure the reason Middleton didn't press the whole game is foul issues. Even though Middleton is very quick and talented, they are also very young and still lack the discipline to apply the pressure without fouling. I believe Middleton finished the game with 4 players with 4 fouls each. The Scotts Hill girls have definitely stepped up their game these last few games and as the old saying goes "Never under estimate the heart of a champion".

  14. I agree with your post for the most part, with an asterisk*.Madison is the clear favorite,Adamsville-Middleton is a toss-up(especially if A'ville's young guard is healthy),Scotts Hill-Adamsville is close, but for some reason(matchups) I don't believe the 'Hill can play with Middleton if Adamsville sends them to the consolation game.If there's a sleeper in the west,I'm picking Adamsville to surprise some people(again depending upon the health of the team, the guard who's been out w/toe problems is a future all-region pick).

I'll stick with my orignials picks to win for Monday nights games. Let's say:

    Scotts Hill 52

    Middleton 45

    Madison 65

    Adamsville 59

  15. I think Madison is certainly the favorite but is not an automatic to win the district tournament. I think the other 3 schools (Adamsville, Middleton and Scotts Hill) are a toss up. If I had to make a prediction for Friday's games, I would say Madison beats Scotts Hill and Middleton beat Adamsville (in a close game). Then on Monday night Scotts Hill beats Adamsville (in a close game) and Madison beats Middleton in the Championship game.

  16. Avarax, did you see the final score? Loretto won by 23. That was a blowout. JC won it all last year and none of the current Loretto girls have ever been to state. It took them a little while to get going, but when they did it got ugly quick. You definitely should not underestimate Loretto. "Any team that lost to Loretto doesn't scare a SC fan"? Who cares about who scares who?? All that matters is what's done on the court....and we'll see tomorrow how good Scotts Hill is. They're strength of schedule on CoachT is 98th. WC's is 8th.

If you are going to look at CoachT rankings (which has nothing to do with who will win tomorrow's game), then might as well look at the others.

"Strength + Success" Wayne Co # 1, Scotts Hill # 3 (not much difference)

"Best Defense (points per game)" Scotts # 2, Wayne Co not in top twenty (only top 20 are listed) I always heard "offense wins games" but "defense wins championships"

As for Scotts Hill's strength of schedule ranking---the only teams that they have not beat are the teams that they have not played.

However, the "ONLY" stats that will matter will be the stats generated in tomorrow's game. Both teams are certainly capable of winning this game (and the championship) and the team that performs the best will win. Should be a really good game to watch. Also, whoever wins between Loretta (probably Loretta) and Greene Co will be a worthy component for the Scotts Hill/Wayne Co winner.

My congratulations go out to four teams for making it to the FINAL 4.

  17. When I saw the pairings I thought it would be a brave soul that tried to pick winners in this tournament. PTGUARD12 was on the same page I was. The teams are too evenly matched this year with the intangibles too great. Does Coach Byrd retiring give WC added drive to get the job done? Could Coach Brown's experience overcome Loretto talent (not this time). Lake Co can be lights out or flop (flopped this time but might win it all next year). After watching the first round with only 4 teams left, I think a coin flip or a crystal ball might be a better forecaster of who wins next than trying to pick based on the first game results!!??

Anyone want to forecast the state champ? You have one chance in four of being correct. Anyhow, I've nothing better to do so I'll make my predictions with the help of my trusty good luck 50 cent piece.

    Loretto over North Greene

    WC over Scott's Hill

WC wins the tie breaker with Loretto in the finals.

If anyone thinks I'm going to strongly defend these picks, start blowing away and expect silence on my part.

It's fun when it is this wide open!!!

I agree. I think any one of the 4 teams left could win it all and there should be two really great Class a games to watch on Friday. As for my prediction, I think:

Loretto wins over North Greene by 8

Scotts Hill wins over Wayne Co by 3

Scotts Hill wins Championship (by 4) and finishes the year undefeated.

  18. YOU MADE SOME SOLID PICKS HERE.

For predictions that were made on January 12th, I guest they turned out to be pretty decent. (and the two teams on the list that did not make it were eliminated in the sub-state round. My prediction for the final four are:

    Lake County

    Jackson County

    Scotts Hill

    Wayne County

One of these four teams I think will win the "Gold Ball", but there 8 good teams still in the hunt (otherwise, they wouldn't be at the Boro)and I'm sure they all have the same goal. I hope they all enjoy their state tournament experience and may the best team win.

  19. :thumb: I know that they're busy today rollin'up the sidewalks in Scotts Hill, who will have the most fan support at the 'Boro?

Scotts Hill may be a small town (Class A), but you can count on Scotts Hill having a huge crowd. Scotts Hill will probably have the largest crowd in attendance on Wednesday. Good Luck Lady Lions.
