  1. Well that's certainly what it is-pure entertainment. It's a fact none of us are making a living doing this.If so,we owe a lot of employers their dime back.We are just pullin' for the hometown boys and our sons,g-sons,and kin, etc. You could put all we know(statistic wise)in a thimble. And ain,t it flabbergasting how the"know-nothings" spout the most numbers, the future, and every pimple on the face of every player in the Region.Ain,t that right Rudy old buddy?

You just went on a rant about your sons stats then post "ain't it flabbergasting how the know-nothings spout the most numbers" that's to funny.
  2. Is this player also on the football team? There seems to be a pattern with Coalfield athletics, every year or so someone there is brawling with someone. Maybe they should discontinue all athletics and form a boxing team #probationhigh :roflol:

  3. For years we've read about the evils of the private schools, especially in the area of districts 3, 4, & 5 whenever one happens to score more points than the fans think was necessary on a small area school that typically struggles in football. We see page after page about no class and lacking moral character from the water boy to the AD and all people in between. However while checking out the scoreboard this morning I noticed Oakdale really got it put to them last night. Imagine my surprise when I made my way to the message boards and found that not a single person had called for an Oliver Springs head. Not even a mention of it as a matter of fact. I guess it's O.K. since it was a public school huh? Now I'm not a fan of the whole private school playing public divisions but I'm even less of a fan of hypocrisy, it always make me think of an old saying that makes mention something about stones and glass houses. . . anyway, just struck me as odd.

  4. Greenback has played teams so far with with a combined record of 13-18 with only Oneida (4-1) and Cloudland (3-2) with winning records. The remaining schedule, not counting Grace, is made up of teams with a combined record of 6-10. Tri Cities Christian is just now starting varsity I believe and Harriman is 0-5. The schedule is not nearly as difficult as it was last year. I do believe this team has more depth and more size than last year but I also do not believe the competition is anywhere near what Greenback played last year. This years Grace team would not have beat last years Grace team, not even close. I do believe Grace will win but I believe it will be closer than most expect. I do not believe Greenback has played anyone that can run with there wide receivers until now. The quarterback will have to make quick decisions and run out of trouble. Can he do that? Last years quarterback could run and get himself out of a jam, I do not think this QB has had to do this so far this year. Just my 2 cents worth.

GCA opponent record, minus CAK which is the only above .500 team they have played (& lost to), is 10-13.

  5. Sorry rcpatriot you are correct. There just seems to be a larger abundance of them in OS than anywhere else. :roflol: Just kidding. Maybe. I guess.

We must have upset "THE COACH" on here sloth. I noticed he was cruising around here & now we are both a couple posts short of where we were a few minutes ago. Tell you what, I'll initiate a cease fire with ya' before Coacht himself has to negotiate one for us.

Just so you know, though, I am not from OS or even a supporter of the program. Don't have any bad blood with 'em, they're just not even remotely close to where I am geographically.

  6. Thanks for the congratulations and the kind words about CAK. No school is perfect including CAK, but I know from deep inside the program that Coach Bradley runs it by the book both legally (TSSAA) and ethically. I have heard that GCA would like to improve their athletic image but I have heard nothing else as it pertains to any coaching changes. I believe Rusty Bradley is happy at CAK and will continue to be the Warriors coach, at least in the short term. IF he ever wanted to get into college coaching he sure would make someone a fantastic Passing Game Coordinator. But when he feels like God has called him to another school, (GCA or others), then that is when he will leave, or at least thats my opinion based upon my observations and conversations with him.

    Have a Merry Christmas!

CAK is very fortunate to have a man like coach Bradley, the players can only benefit from the influence he provides. I hope wherever God leads him in his life he allows him to continue to be a mentor for young men. I hold a high opinion of both you & the CAK program as a whole. That's what comes when a group of people have a strong work ethic & faith in God. Many many programs could fare very well to follow the example set by CAK. A Merry Christmas to you & yours as well.

  7. That would be the biggest surprise to me and the others that are close to the football program at CAK. Rusty Bradley has turned down opportunities to coach at Carson Newman in recent years so I doubt he would leave for another area high school. He is content at CAK. Additionally he has a special affection for the Jr. class with all the record setting receivers and QB that fit his passing offense perfectly. Additionally, and more importantly, you have to have an opening for the coaching job and unless I just missed it, McKamey went 10-0 and will be back to coach the RAMS. But I would never say never. I would lay odds that this rumbling has absolutely no merit.

Agreed. I doubt there is much meat on that bone but I will have to say it has & continues to linger much longer than the normal "silly season" rantings. I'll be sitting in the seat right next to you on the "shocked the crap outta me" bus if either go anywhere. Bradley because he is a fine coach & an upstanding Christian man that runs a very good program. He also places emphasis on not only turning young boys into great football players, his leadership & example helps make them into better men, husbands, & fathers. McKamey probably won't go anywhere for opposite reasons. I don't believe he possesses the same traits & character as does Bradley and. . . well let's just say that he & the program at GCA fit well with each other. If they don't wanna change the way they do business then they have the right man for the job. Same statement about CAK, thankfully the two are worlds apart on how they do business. Congrats to CAK on another fine season.

  8. The following is an excerpt from one of your previous posts:

"Yes, we sang the song, yes, we sang it on your field. No Greenback players were around, no Greenback fans were around. So, there was no lack of class. A classless act would have been if the players sang the song while they went thru the line after the game."

To me that statement says that if GCA had sang their little song with GHS players / fans present THEN it would have been a classless act but not so since they were not present. Well I present these questions. Is a classless act not a sign of low moral character? If you consider something classless or lacking in character if someone is within earshot is it not still classless or lacking character to do the same thing when someone is not there to hear or see it? My issue is not & has not ever been with the players of GCA. They are young men that are trying to find their way to adulthood just like every other teenager at whatever high school in any town, city, county, state, or even country for that matter. My issue IS & WILL continue to be with some of the administration, some of the parents, & some of the coaches. I say some because I'm sure not everyone affiliated with GCA is responsible or even knowledgeable of the occurrences that have & continue to go on behind the scenes. The players are really getting short changed by a bunch of greedy snake oil salesmen. Their ADULTS are letting these kids down. Help a kid cheat & he's a cheater for a day, Teach a kid to cheat & he's a cheater for a lifetime. . . that statement applies to a lot more than fish & fishing. These are very critical years in developing boys into men, husbands, & fathers. How they practice is how they'll play is relevant to more than football.

As for letting you in on my particular team of choice to follow. I appreciate your inquiry but will have to respectfully decline. I am a fan of all football but I am passionate about HS football. Sometimes that passion tends to lead me to say things, that while true & factual, tend to make people upset with me & looking for "pay back" if you will. On internet message boards that tends to manifest itself as attacking an entire program because someone disagreed with an individual. That is attention I choose not to bring to "my school".

BTW pride, you didn't address the questions in my post. Any thoughts on them?

  9. Pot calling the kettle black. Keep bashing, just do it in shorter posts, that last one was too long.

I can say that we are happy with where our program is, happy with where its heading, and most of all, happy with the leadership that is in place.

Still waiting on your school of choice, pretty cowardly of you to hide that information when you choose to bash our program. I'm not saying I want to bash your school, just like to know who we're dealing with.

Pot calling kettle black? Well not really, I clearly stated I did not have a problem with the program as a whole just SOME of the coaches, fans, & admin.

Shorter posts, what's wrong? Does all that thinking make your peanut hurt? If it's to long to read then just skip it & move on.

If you're happy with it then great. I am willing to admit it is possible that I am wrong about GCA, given the history of infractions I don't think I am but I could be. Are you willing to admit it is possible I could be right?

Cowardly, well that is your opinion & you are entitled to it. It is also your right as an American to express it freely. Many fine young men have fought & died for the right for us to be able to do so.

Knowing who you're dealing with, well I doubt it. The school I follow has never met & will probably never meet GCA, even though it is a stretch to call it "my school". They are a team I watch & keep up with regularly but neither myself nor my children went there or even in the great state of Tennessee for that matter. I do try to catch them 2-3 time a season in person. I did see GCA twice this season. When I review the schedule & see what games I may attend next season maybe we could exchange emails & set up a meeting at the game. We could talk football or you could try that "cowardly" comment on for size again, your choice. I'm sure I'd really enjoy either conversation. :thumb:

Sorry if this one was to long for you, maybe some Tylenol will help you concentrate through the pain :roflol:

  10. I haven't read all the post on here, so pardon me if this question has done been asked, but will this surface require different cleats than real grass?

I'm not sure exactly what type of surface they are putting in but it shouldn't. The "old stuff" did require a different cleat & some actually tried tennis shoes back in the day. The newer "field turf" is more like a natural surface, I have heard several players say that a shorter tap helps the slipping they had with longer taps however I have also had players tell me that the longer ones work better than the short ones. I personally think the slipping issue has more to do with whats between their ears than on their feet.

  11. There is nothing wrong with what is going on. You guys just keep on bashing, it really doesn't matter to us anymore. As long as we play (and beat) Division I teams, this will continue, and we know that. Bash away, I'm reading it with a smile on my face, I can assure you of that. As much as you and others on here want to get under our skin, it's not going to happen. We've moved past that.

I'm sorry, I don't know who your high school team of choice is, care to let me know? Thank you.

  12. Check your map. Friendship Christian is in Lebanon (middle Tenn).

    Also,

DII A winner is St. George's (west)

DII AA winner is Ensworth (west)

DI 1A winner is Wayne Co. (west

DI 5A winner is Henry Co. (west)

I also don't follow DII very closely but the East (by play-off bracket) did dominate DI as has been the case recently. I mean the 2 West wins were ball games to the end with one win by only 2 points (I think). Of the 4 East wins 3 were mercy rule games with the fourth being close through 3 quarters but ending 23-7.

  13. It will be a long time before Greenback beats GCA again. I know you guys have a good team coming back next year, but GCA will be improved as well. You come on up to our plastic field next year. I'm certain you will have a long ride back home.

Your comments about the song and my beliefs are not relevant. I never said I agreed with the song or disagreed with the song. Go back and read what I said. You guys are taking this way too far. Nobody is implying that God is showing favor over one group or another and its not blasphemy.

The only folks on here that don't seem to see anything wrong with this behavior are GCA themselves. . . Well who wudda thought? Typical <_<

  14. I heard that the team was invited to travel up and stay at Tech in the dorm rooms. Tech is going to feed them, Tech coaches are going to evaluate the players in a work out and offer all the starters full rides. Tech has also promised to provide a "hostess" for each player, before and after the game.

All this at no expense to that Grider man.

Man, the benefits of being an SP football player. Going to be a trip of a lifetime!

    :roflol:

BTW...all of this has been cleared by that Childress man.

I hope this is a joke on your part. Surely no one is buying the full ride comment. Just can't see TTU using up to 22 (probably about 15-18 actual players) of their 63 rides on the starters from a single A team just 'cause they're there.

  15. I've heard enough out of Greenback. This was your best chance to beat us with a really good team. GCA came out ahead with the victory. Yes, we sang the song, yes, we sang it on your field. No Greenback players were around, no Greenback fans were around. So, there was no lack of class. A classless act would have been if the players sang the song while they went thru the line after the game.

As for the Christian witness that this team has and continues to build, I think I will let someone much higher than a Greenback poster judge that. You guys have no idea what this team goes thru to improve their walk with the Lord. It's not only talked about, but expected from these young men.

Have a nice off-season, enjoy the District title, it will be a LONG time before you win another one. That's not taking a shot at you, that's just letting you know that we will be better over the next couple of years.

A true measure of character is what we do or how we act when we think no one else is watching :flower:
