Wow. I guess you have forgotten where this program was a few years ago. They won 2 games. Now they have been to the state 2 years in a row and nothing is ever enough.

I agree with you , best game of the year for the Fillies. Fundamentals should be taught at a very early age and Huntingdon hurts at this. GREAT game plan by the Lowerys. But GC has a ton more talent and floor experience than the Fillies. They gave GC all they wanted.

These Fillies are young girls that work hard everyday to get better. And I think you got it wrong they are the Huntingdon Fillies.

Haven't been on the boards in sometime, but was shocked to see what was being said about the Huntingdon Fillies and their coaches. I guess I shouldn't be. Croppygenius, maybe you should talk with your daughter a little more. Mine has told me that the Fillies have many plays and use them during the game and are constantly working on more. I can only hope that The Lowery's stay atleast until my daughter graduates. If they leave it would be a HUGE lost to Huntingdon High School.

Just wondering about seating at the Cornersville stadium. Huntingdon brings a HUGE Fan base with them to ALL of their games. Is there a place to set up lawn chairs once the bleachers are full. How much visitors seating do you have?

Huntingdon was had the wind taken out of their sails with 2 girls tearing ACL's within the last two weeks. This has been very traumatic for the whole team. But don't count them out yet. They still have a lot of heart and fight left in them.

Well, they beat Middleton recently, lol... that should tell you quite a bit. I saw JCS play against Dyer Co. in the jamboree at the beginning of the year and honestly didn't think they had a chance of beating Middleton this year. They are obviously getting better which is credit to her. And looking at their schedule with wins over Madison, Gleason, Middleton, South Gibson... you definitely have to put them in talks as 1 or 2 out of that district over there.
Huntingdon beat them pretty good.

How can a player become eligible after Christmas. I thought according to the TSSAA that a player was either eligible or not for the entire year unless it was involving a transfer situation.

There are 8 regions in A classification.
Regions 1-2 = 23 teams
Regions 3-4 = 24 teams
Regions 5-6 = 24 teams
Regions 7-8 = 39 teams
How can TSSAA possibly think its fair for only two teams to make it out of a section with 39 teams when all the other sections only have 24. There's nothing fair about that. Why are there more classifications in football when there are more schools with basketball programs. Just wondering what others think about this?

I seen lots of people with West Carroll shirts when I went to Walmart earlier, showing their pride, wish Vols wouldve beat Florida last night then there would be a lot of orange shirts as well you would think it was the 3rd saturday in october lol. I heard Swenson was embarassed and didnt go to the 5th quarter friday night from a kid, I didnt even know they had 5th quarter at away games. Swenson should have been a better sport though disappointed if that was true. He did get outcoached so he should be a little embarassed but the community respects him so it dont look good if that is true.
The Swenson family had plans to go out of town as soon as the game was over regardless of the outcome. Anyone that knows Coach Swenson wouldn't have even made such a quote.

I was hoping someone would get smart and ask that question! First of let me just start by saying Huntingdon isn't as good as that score says they are. The refs were a little nicer but we just couldnt get the ball to drop well played well, but we have to play them agian soon so we will show them how bad of a night we acutally had! So that right there gives lake co., Greenfield, Union city, and Bradford all there 1st loss! That being said everyone has there bad night!!!
Huntingdon may not be as good as the score indicated, but they played as well as the scored indicated. They were up by 1 pt at the end of the 1st quarter and never looked back. It was 10 at half and from that point on. You must have forgotten who was coaching at Huntingdon now. Farris Lowery is a winner and will have Huntingdon winning also. So they may be a team that you should lose to.

SAW IN THE JACKSON SUN TODAY THAT HUNTINGDON POINT GUARD OUT FOR THE SEASON (ACL). THAT IS A SHAME SHE IS A REAL GOOD PLAYER. THEY HAVE #14 WHO ALSO PLAYS REAL HARD. SHE CARRIED MOST OF THE LOAD. LAST NIGHT WAS A GOOD NIGHT FOR COMBS (19 PTS. 8 BOARDS), BUT THE SPEED OF STREET JUST GETS BETTER. BRATTON GOT IN FOUL TROUBLE SO HER TOTALS WERE DOWN. COULD HAVE BEEN A CLOSER GAME, BUT THE HUNTINGDON COACH DID NOT START FOULING TILL THE 50 SEC. MARK AND THEY ONLY HAD 4 TEAM FOULS AT THAT POINT. I DO NOT THINK HE KNEW THIS OR HE WOULD HAVE STARTED SOONER. HAVE HALLS TONIGHT AND HUMBOLDT FRIDAY AND A MAKE UP WITH THEM ON MONDAY.
Do you really think a veteran coach, like Farris Lowery, didn't know how many fouls his team had. Bradford only missed 4 free throws for the game. Why put them back on the line and make the score even worse. Huntingdon was struggling scoring anyway the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter. #14 is a Freshmen with very little varsity experience. Will be good but had alot of turn overs. #35 is the player that carried the team. This is a team that only won 5 games last year so they have tripled their wins already. They have come a long way and will only get better with Lowery as the Coach.

Just to clear the air a little. Greenfield only beat Huntingdon by 10 and that was after their point guard went down with a knee injury. They were only up by 1. And the ones of you that are on here talking down the teams that are doing well is a shame. Is it not possible for teams to get new coaches, players develop into good ballplayers through hard work, and turn a program around. Huntingdon only won 6 games last year and have already won 10 so far this year. These girls have worked extremely hard and are showing ALOT of improvement. I am very proud that the Jackson Sun saw this hard work and chose to reward them with a Dirty Dozen rating. Good job Huntingdon Fillies.

ok Thanks.Just what the announcer said at the end of the game.I should have looked I guess before I posted.I know Hunt had beaten Dresden earlier,believe by 1 point..Wasn't sure what Huntingdon had done against Gleason or if they had played yet.So with Huntingdon being in first place and Gleason winning last night,at the time..looks like Dresden is in 3rd place.Still early but probably not many thought Dresden would be in 3rd place any time of the year.About the same for Greenfield.If a person were to just go to the standings in District 14A,would be surprised to see Greenfield down in the standings.By looking at that ,a person would thing the district must be loaded..So far Union City ,Humboldt and South Fulton may be surprising some people..I look for Greenfield to make a run though.Lake Co plays at South Fulton tonight.I saw South Fulton had beaten Bradford by 13 points.Most people had Lake Co.,Bradford and Greenfield as the top 3..But with Union City,Humboldt and South Fulton having good records..does anyone see this differently..think it will be the same..So basically it's 6 teams ..I haven't seen South Fulton or Bradford yet but have seen Greenfield,Humboldt and Union City.How do most Dist 14A fans think the standing will pan out at the end of the season.
Also..I saw that Huntingdon and Dresden both have a couple big losses to Greenfield..Do most people think that District would beat any of the top 3 teams or any of the 6 teams in District 14A that are playing well at the moment..
You never know on a given night who will beat who. Huntingdon has a new coach and is learning to win again. They have not yet played Gleason. Their only loss is to Bradford, the 1st game of the season. The difference in the game was the 2nd quarter. All other quarters were a 1 or 2 point difference. Huntingdon scrimmage Humboldt pre-season and beat them by 16.

I tried to pick the game up on the radio but Gleason-Dresden was on..Looks like Gleason was up to thier old tricks..playing Gleason ball..Gleason won 44-30.Dresden had 26 fouls called on them.The announcers said Gleason was in first place with a 3-1 record while Dresden was 3-2..Not in 14A but still close to some of our area teams
This is incorrect. The Huntingdon Fillies are in 1st place. They are 3-0 in the district(13A) and 4-1 overall.

You might want to rethink that comment. Remember Farris Lowery is coming to Huntingdon and will be in that District. Should be very interesting over the next few years.

Just heard that Coach Farris Lowery is leaving Jackson North Side to return as the new Head Girls' Basketball Coach. What a great deal for Huntingdon!!! Glad your back Coach Lowery.

No high school coach has a contract. It was his choice to retire and he does so with a tremendous career. Congratulations Coach Lowery and Good Luck to Coach Wilkins. Keep the winning tradition going.
