  1. Part of the increased safety of this type of field comes with the consistent condition of it. No more slop at the end of a season. Most of these fields can drain as quickly as it rains.

As far as the complainers: this field will pay for itself. There really isn't much more to say about it. Maybe if Fort Craigers were more concerned with not finishing at the bottom then they would have a school worth keeping. The MHS football program has earned an upgrade to the decades out-of-date field & stadium.

WOW, old rebel If you new what you were talking about I might take you seriously. Fort Craig has consistently been at the top when it comes to T-cap scores, check it out before you speak next time.

  2. Ha. wikipedia is more tainted than the Northern school teachers that brought on the lies you know as truth now.

Or how about the truths from an African American himself.

But understand I am NEVER saying slavery was right in the South or the North. It is a big black eye on this country. But, my interest is to show that the blame should not be pointed just at the Southern white man that carried the flag of St. Andrews......The Confederate Battle Flag.

Slavery and the un-justice to the African American did not end with the war. During the time of reconstruction of the South, the South was under heavy federal army control. The Southern white man was not allowed to vote. With this the North voted a Tyrant in as President. His name, Grant. One of the first things Grant did......turned to his right hand man Sherman. Sherman was now in charge of the greatest army in the world. A great army honed from years of fighting in the South.

Sherman turned his army west, and rounded up or killed millions of Native Indians. This another big black eye on the country. That Army carried a flag called "Old Glory"

Did I log on to the History Channel by mistake? I thought this thread was about Maryville's spring practice. I appreciate the history lessons but lets get back to football. :thumb:

  3.

You call this giving Greeneville their props? The best team they played all year was Maplewood...Gibbs would have smacked Sully South around pretty bad...South had 0 run defense...Hibbett would have had a field day.

Try to picture this, a playoff matching all the state champions in each classification. You could seed them with an end of the year ranking and have the games at Neyland. It would settle all of this speculation. What do you guys tnink?

PS(someone needs to come up with a great name for it!)

  4. If you take a look at WB'S schedule over the past few years, you may be surprised to see how many top 10 teams in the state that the govs have played against. They always have tough opponents.

Lowkee, I spoke too soon W.B. has played some quality teams. But thay still need to play a cross town team or people will think they are scaird of them and I know that is not the case.

  5. Phoos and LowKee,

Using the same reasoning, then shouldn't Maryville take them off of their schedule now also?

And yes, I agree with the "not being so eager to help Alcoa out" ... I know the whole story. But I still believe we ought to play them. However, I will support the decision made by our administration and our coaching staff. It's okay to disagree every now and then!

Govman, It seems like the administration is cutting their nose off to spite their face. To be the best you need to beat or at least compete with the best. PS[Gov, Why did'nt you guys replay the M.H.S-W.B.H.S game?]

  6. The above post is total bull, you don't know any more than anyone else or you would tell...and no one cares about Halls...they are not in the playoffs.

Whatever the real truth is we may never know, but the fact remains that the trust between this young man and his team mates is forever broken. If and when he comes back I hope they can put this behind them and focus on the task that is ahead.

Good luck to the Panthers and my prayers will be with this young man.

  7. Oh come on folks, All of a sudden I am by myself. Go back and look at the Maryville - Farragut game during the regular season. The phantom pass interference call that kept the drive alive for Maryville. The holding calls every time Farragut had a big run. The questionable block in the back on a big kickoff return for Farragut. The blatent non - holding call (it was actually a tackle) on Maryville in the middle of the field that resulted in a Maryville TD. Maryville is well coached and disciplined but they have had help along the way. Farragut on the other hand has always had an attitude of arrogance and the refs usually don't give them a lot of slack. Perception you say...try 20 years of watching local High School ball. I will be at the game to support HS athletics.

We sat on the Farragut side during that game. When Farragut was up in the first half all I could hear was Maryville can't play with the big boys. After Maryville went ahead all I could hear was Maryville has bought off the refs. Which excuse are you guys going with?? <_<<_<

  8. OK MHS fans just want to know what your opinion is.

    1. Who has been the best opposing player the Rebels have played against?

    2. Which opposing team has been the biggest disappointment?

    3. Which opposing team has been the biggest surprise?

    4. What one thing in your opinion needs to be done to the stadium to make it a better venue?

    5. What one play over the past ten years stands out in your mind?

    6. Which win over the past ten years stands out?

    7. Which opposing player should starz have pushed his garbage service at "just a little harder"?

    1. I agree on the back from White Station. He was amazing.

    2. 04 Semis Tennessee High-0 MHS-49 it was over in the first quarter.

    3. I was surprised that Riverdale did'nt give us a better game 09.

    4. The pressbox needs a upgrade.

    5. 2004 championship MHS-7 MELROSE-6 pat block.

    6. 2002 championship MHS-29 HILLSBORO-26 amazing comeback!

    7. The back from Whitestation that might have slowed him down. :popcorneater:

  9. so i dont know where all you ignorant people get you information but ive never heard brint russell ever say anything negative about George Q. i mean seriously you all talk like your at the heritage practices and coaches meetings. i mean seriously find something better to talk about... like how about losing in another state title game after telling the world you were gonna win it all.

btw i love how 95% of your "high school heros" you talk about on here are all county kids. why dont you talk about how there is zero talent in the city. that for the city schools to win. they have to go else where to find talent. you should seriously send heritage and will b. thank you letters for allowing you to take there players so you can win games. cause lord knows without their kids you wouldnt be doing it.

Sounds like years of sour grapes, and as for the city having to go "else where to find talent". They came to us not us to them. Ever wondered why?

  10. Rank

#1 PLAYERS(not to be confused with participants)

    -can't win with out them

-Elite programs send backup players to college and lots of starters division I

-Great coaches won't stay long if they are not there

    #2 Money

-to equip and take care of players

-PAY coaches especially the assistant coaches(elite programs pay there assistant coaches more than the average head coach makes thus they retain quality coaches)

    -upgrade facilities

    #3 Coaches

-programs RELOAD much more often than they rebuild if they have a great staff and players

    #4 Community

-a school administration and a community that puts football first

-alot of communities don't demand there kids play and play well

-alot of communities don't sell the stadium out every friday night

  11. I believe that saying Maryville was over matched at every position is much overstated. I believe that Alcoa is an anomaly, while they always have good teams these last two years seem to be exceptionally good. Yes it does seem that Maryville is not as strong over all ,I believe that many Maryville fans are spoiled and do not, for whatever reason have many positive things to say about their team. I saw a team play that seemed to have heart and talent. Most teams that played on Friday night would have folded and been beaten by multiple TD's early on. I just think ya'll sell the guys short.

Do you guys play anymore TV games this season?

  12. Maryville will have to get over the loss to Alcoa. West is 2-0 so the game will be a great challenge.

I believe the boys learned alot from that loss. The West game will be a challenge they always have good players. If the boys respond the way they did between game 1 and game 2 last year it will not be good for West. This game will tell us alot about the way this team responds to adversity. I believe in this team they showed the entire state their heart Thurs. night and I believe they will show their hearts again this Fri. night! GO REBS!!! :thumb:
