  1. Hargis, great post! I wish and hope this does happen at state but i doubt it will. I just think the game has passed alot of these folks by. It hurts when we see how much parents spend on their children only to have bottom of the barrell officials. Sorry but its truly how I feel!

  2. TYPICAL TSSAA, A BUNCH OF OLD MEN WHO DONT UNDERSTAND YOU WOULD GET MORE MONEY ON WEEKENDS,STUDENTS, MORE FAMILIES ETC! BUT WE HAVE ALWAYS DONE IT THAT WAY SO LETS NEVER TRY ANYTHING NEW! FOLKS LOOK WHOSE RUNNING THIS MESS. SORRY KARNS, D-B, RAVENWOOD ONE OF YOU ARE FINISHED EARLY!

  3. Does anyone know if it is a requirement for four officials for Sub State Matches? NCS lost in Summertown due to a parent line judge because their were only two TSSAA Officals for the match. I have seen four officials at two of the Regional games I have attended and need to verify what the TSSAA Requirements are. Similar to regional and Sub State Basketball where it is required to have 3 Ref's. Anyone know?

    Thanks.

[After what ive seen this year nothing surprises me anymore with TSSAA. And yes they should have 4 at district, regions and substate games. Notice I said should, But one good official is better than 4 sometime! WHAT A JOKE!

  4. I these brackets are correct sounds like the top half got screwed! TSSAA IS A JOKE! More than likely they are seeking a huge crowd from siegel! Karns, D-B, Ravenwood should be very upset. Three great teams who get screwed again by a bunch of old men sitting around a table. Anyone from siegel on that board? Ive seen it before! Tired of this and will not attend and pay money to see anymore TSSAA STATE TOURNMENTS! What a joke!

  5. I will promise you this will cost a great team a state championship down the road, I have spoken with a TSSAA officer this afternoon,he has had other complaints about this and it will be investigated. This was promised to me, they are having issues all over the regions this year. I dont ask for a one-sided official but one who doesnt screw with the flow of the game. We now have to pay for 2 officials at all distrct games, I think its made it worse than better. The crew last night should go back and finish their middle school training before moving up the ladder to high school.

  6. I was pleased with the outcome last evening at Farragut High school. 4 great teams left all they had on the courts and congrads to both Karns and Lady Admirals. I have watched for years the quality of girls volleyball go forward. I have also watched the officials and their lack of knowledge for basic rules simply go backward. I have witnessed young ladies spending all year in training only to see a few clowns with white shirts and online training trying to prove they understand volleyball. The four that called the region final are simply the worst ive seen in 6 years. A good official lets the kids play and allows the game to go forward. All year we have seen no two hands until last evening in the regional championship. It is a rule then enforce it, but do it when it's not about a regional championship also. Karns and Farragut deserve the chance to move forward, but as I watched the officials in the last game it was to them no more than a chance to be a joke. Even the head official at one point covered his private area when a ball came near him. He did this while smiling at the net official. He was a clown and has been for years. This is simply uncalled for around young high school ladies. Many of these ladies deserve better, their families travel and spend 100's of dollars while these clowns could care less as long as the paycheck is there. I have decided not to attend state this year, TSSAA MUST MAKE CHANGES OR FACE LAWSUITS IN THE YEARS AHEAD.This kind of activity must be dealt with. Wakeup it may just be girls volleyball but these young ladies deserve better.

  7. TE, you must have just seen them play. Lets say that they are the best in Prep Volleyball in Tennessee, any Division. But the question is, no matter who they may have beaten already, can they get out of their District to get to State. One might say how can they not do that? Play the schools they compete with, in District, and most matches are State Tournament matches. Their present coach and Seniors likely are on a mission. Those who have seen them or played against them have not considered them under the radar. They can be seen visably, 6'5" and 6'3" and jump out of the arena. Do they have something to prove? They may be taken out by someone in their own District Tournament. On paper I don't think too many will disagree with you. This year they are the School to beat. On the court, many will give it a try. Few, if any, will have the raw talent to do so. Don't let their quiet demeanor surprise you.

  8. Trainwreck23, if your at the officials table then you should know better, I have spoken to a parent of Tn high who was there, the only F -bomb dropped was by one of your players refering to a AC players hair! Just understand AC and Sullivan-South are the programs that all volleyball programs hope to attain. I am a little ashamed that has adults we dont reconize this and thank each program for its leadership in ladies volleyball. Also Coach Cantrell is a volunteer coach with 30 plus years devoted at AC. He has given to statewide volleyball more than any present day coach. He does questions calls because honestly me may have seen more than the officials that is calling the game. I have coached against Coach Cantrell and been around him for a number of years. Never have I heard a foul word or bad remark against another young lady. This is simply a LIE!

  9. ORCAT, If you think you have it bad then you should be at Farragut this year. We are taking our hits! Keep your head up! Karns and AC are the best ive seen this year. Both teams are great kids and are looking forward to the next few weeks!

  10. Tennessee high crying again about losing? I have watched AC Several time this year in Knoxville, simply have never heard a bad word from any members of this team or staff. Sure the staff questions calls but never in a way to hurt anyone . Please dont simply lie, we dont need grown adults acting this way. I know for a fact these girls do not speak this way! I have been on the court and heard first hand! Dont worry you wont have to face AC again, DB and South will see to that!

  11. I AGREE, I think Karns will go to state this year, however I dont think they will win it. They seem a little slow for tourney play. Next year they will be fine but no where near the powerhouse they are now. Next year AC will own East Tennessee, they are young and look better ever time I see them play. Not sure if AC can beat Karns this year but could possilbly still be a state team out of this district and region.Congrads to both these teams. Farragut looks like a weak team, Oak Ridge is now a mid level team, Maryville looks good but generally fades in the end.Catholic is down at this time, Karns and AC are the teams that look very well coached and without the big middle of Karns AC would win the district. I have seen the middle at Karns and the Libero at AC, both of these young ladies are head and shoulders above most of the talent in Tennessee. Congrads to both these ladies on their hard work!

  12. Tonight at Catholic, I went to see a great game but was totally surprised by AC, This is a different team than what I saw early in the year. AC destroyed the Irish, Catholic could not overcome the more atheltic AC team. AC had the setter out with sickness but it didnt slow down the Lady Mav offense. If someone knows anything about AC please tell me who number 1 is, I think she has started there 10 years! Great defensive player! AC will be reckoned with this year.

  13. Oak Ridge and Farragut are end of the road teams! I expected Oak Ridge to fall, Farragut has been a bit of a surprise.

I agree with the above posts, it is much harder coaching a competitive high school program. Coach Foster was simply not prepared this season. Neither was the Farragut coach. It is sad to see two of the top programs disappear so quickly. It shows what a difference a strong coach makes.

As far as Catholic, they have to be the best surprise of the season. They are playing as well as anyone. Maybe it is COACHING!

I think Catholic beats AC tonight. Catholic is playing big, and AC is young!

  14. Oak Ridge and Farragut are middle of the road volleyball teams as of now. Baylor destroyed Farragut at OR. Oak Ridge looked very slow and tired, At times a little not interested! AC looks like AC at this time of the year. Webb and AC looked alot alike with Webb winning a close one. AC has a bench load of players on that team. Coach rotated most of the girls on her bench, AC simply could wear you down in 5 games.Looks like AC will be the team for years to come. I think Karns and AC will go back to state this year. Karns doesnt play well up against biggger stronger teams, AC has simply been there and they understand what tournment volleyball is. I saw the club coaches this past weekend simply looking like club coaches. Its good when you have all superstars on a team but high school Vball is putting a team together with only a few superstars. As of now ITS Karns, AC, Maryville, and the rest just follow.

  15. I think Central and Powell both will give AC a game. AC has no defense very small and inexperinced. The offense looks to score fast and at will. I wonder what will happen when the game slows with the other team controling the clock? The AC O-line looks very small not sure they will hold up throughout the season. I even think OAK RIDGE could be interesting for them. Blade has this team on the course he has for them. It hard to beat them at home. Has been for years. AC IS GOOD, BUT WHEN THE MUD AND RAIN COMES THIS FALL, WILL THEY SURVIVE?
