He seems to be a good kid and does work hard. He is one of the many talented Sophmores on the Bulldog team. Don't forget Brown & Rogers who are Sophmores as well. They will be hard to recon with for the next few years because they have some good Freshmen on the team as well and the upcoming talent for next year as potential too! The next 2 years could be all Buldogs if they stay focused and continue to work hard as a team. Their destiny lies in their hands.
Yes the others will be good as well,I wasn't knocking any 1 kid,I was just stating fact about the Harvey kid and what I know of him, there is a lot of talent on that team,I don't know any of the freshman but I know most of the sophmores, and the juniors.that bunch alone will do pretty good.....
BTW,any updates on the Wartburg,TSD score??? I expect it was probably a blowout but who knows.....

I am from a differant county, so I do not know who he is. Can anyone tell me his name? What injuries did he have? I hope hes better and Congrats to Warburg from a Rockwood fan.
His name is Aaron Harvey,he had a bone tumor that caused his leg to break in the 3rd game of the season last year.He also was only one of two freshman to make varsity last year. He is better,or seems to be,he is playing JV this year....congrats to the dawgs..
-
Jv huh???? and what team do you play for?? Playing time if he works hard???
Dude,he could play now given the chance,he is a sophmore, but he missed his freshman year because of injuries, plus he's a good kid who shows respect for others and doesn't judge anybody, maybe you should do the same.... thumb

I agree,I have seen him play,he seems to shoot the ball very well and plays solid defense, but I have seen many players sit the bench who I thought who should be playing,so what do i know....

when will Payne come back?

Rockwood is Regular Season District Champs. Wartbarg is also. They tied.
So it must not be just in his head.
They are not tied, the tie breaker is whoever has the best record against the number 3 seed gets the number 1 seed,if your the number one seed, your the district champ...
but he is still a nice guy even if it is in his head.,... :justwrestle:

Not by himself he can't,but add him to the rest of the TEAM and they will roll!!!!
GO DAWGS!!

There are many players who could have won the MVP,Shannon being one of them,he got it so it's over,he is a very good ball player on a very good team which has lots of talent, Wartburg has talent on the bench that should be getting minutes as well, but that's another topic..
Harriman,Wartburg,Oneida,Rockwood and even Coalfield could win this tournament.Harriman is the most dangerous team in this tournament.Their first five are as good or better than any team playing, but their depth kills them, Wartburg has depth and that helps them,Oneida could be the deepest team in the district, this is an open tournament even if it is being played in the dawgs house..
Give the Shannon kid a break,he deserved this award, but just like a quarterback, the offensive live makes or breaks a quarterback,The rest of the dawgs makes or breaks Shannon,he is good for them, and visa versa,it is called being a TEAM,when Wartburg plays that way they are hard to beat, when they don't,well, you lose 5 games...
-
Joe the only thing u can convince me of is that u know nothing about basketball if you think Shannon is bad. If u get around dist 4-a basketball at all you know that the buzz is all about Shannon. He is the man right now definitely the
front runner for dist. MVP at this point. The boy is a player. Joe blows because Joe knows nothing about basketball.
There are several that can get the MVP,but Shannon is running for it as much as anybody,he is a ballplayer..and one thing I learned along time ago, never argue with MOM,you will always lose....

I think you may be forgetting something...oh yeah a 40 point loss to CAK...wait and maybe the fact that Wartburg has yet to beat a quality opponent. If beating 23rd ranked Rockwood is your big accomplishment then you probably shouldn't be asking for respect . Wartburg will get respect when they earn it, not when beat up on awful teams like greenback, sunbright, oakdale, oneida, and coalfield and have a record that shows no good wins. There is not a victory on their schedule worth mentioning when speaking of respect and until there is you should not get huffy about getting no respect. We'll see how worthy of respect Wartburg is when tournament time comes around.
Oh,I must be missing something,is this the same Rockwood team that CAK only beat by 1 point??? Hmmm...yet your dissing Wartburg for beating a 23rd ranked team???
Number 1,That was early when Wartburg lost to CAK by 40,and went 16 for 69 I believe.
Not saying CAK can't beat them again, but we will see when they come to WArtburg if they are a 40 point better team now,Wartburg has improved a lot since then, where CAK has not and who have they beaten??? Cosby????
So CAK has beaten up on Wartburg,Midway,J Frank White,Coalfield,Grace Christian,Greenback, Kings Academy, and oh,let's not forget The Tennessee School for the Deaf....You still have Cosby and Wartburg away, better worry about that instead of Wartburg's respect,I have a feeling they are going to earn it real soon rather you give it to them or not... thumb

I think you meant to say without Melton,he was suspended for two games and that was one of them for getting the double T..Your right though,Wartburg proved they could win without him by beating county rival Coalfield which is always a tough game because of the rivalry and by beating Rockwood which is always tough any year you play them, but with Melton playing,Wartburg is even better...They have my respect and they are by no means my favorite team.....
-
He got better,he played tonight in the Oliver springs game...Thank god he is ok...
That was a bad lick to the head....
-
Yep,beat like a drum alright, but it was the other way around,Wartburg beat O.S by 11 and played like crap..but they did show up and play dog defense...
so much for drums...

Didn't CAK crush wartburg earlier in the season? Not sure of the exact score but it was something like 84-43.
They sure did,but Wartburg started slow this year for some reason, they have came on strong and beat some very good teams,Including Rockwood,Harriman,Coalfield,(twice)
Tied cosby in a scrimmage and upset Lenoir city, they may not win another game, but you can't count them out of anything yet.....
-
Bottom line, good teams find a way to win,and they did it without Melton,I'm sure the dogs will be ready when they come to Rockwood,,win or lose, they will show up...
-
I also think it will be a good game, beating Rockwood and Coalfield without Melton was tough but they did it.....Melton is back Monday night...It will be a dandy at the dog house.

Guess who is back people yes you guessed it b_ball_king. Now for starters lets talk more about the SHANNON kid Kazam37. I think this kid has the ability to play D-1. For starters he has the ability, the potential, and the right set of mind to play for a big school. Wartburg has 2 maybe even 3 that could make it D-1. Jeremy Shannon, Jason Melton, and Adam Vespie. And guess what the great thing about these 3 is that they are only JUNIORS. Wartburg also has 2 OUTSTANDING Sophmores Travis Nelson and DJ Shannon. OH yeah almost forgot the Jerriel Inman and Brent Hamby. 2 more players that could also play somewhere good. I think all of these guys are to much for Orick to handle. The BULLDOGS will give the Indians a lot more than they can handle.
Hmmm,Give Wartburg credit, they are talented,,the starters have proven that when they are on,they are hard to beat,The nelson kid can do damage to,Jenkins is relentless on defense off the bench, the other shannon brother will be a good player someday, but is to immature and makes to many mistakes right now,but Wartburg will be hard to beat and very deep talent wise by the end of the year, the region will be interesting near the end....good luck to all the teams....
-
Well,Joe Layne from Wartburg has to be one of the up and coming bright young coaches,he has a lot of talent with the x and o's and has won despite having the talent of lots of div 1 schools, but this year he seems to have the talent of players to go with it,could be a good year for the dogs.....

rockwood/wartburg district 4a championship game
in Boys Basketball
Posted · Edited by Jimmy2626
The bottom line, all the kids for Wartburg played a good game, and the bench and the fans made a big difference all season with the support they have shown them,it's all about the kids and nothing more, what bugs me,is people get on here and try to make gods out of kids that they think are good ball players, and they talk down kids who they think are not. Most of it coming from immature parents or adults that either don't have a life or are trying to make their kids seem like they are superman or superwoman, bottom line 2 is,teams win and lose games, teams win and lose championships, not parents, not fans, not anyone except who is on the floor during the game. A coach cannot even win a game without a team or team effort. No matter how good one person is,or even two, without the rest of the team, they are nothing.
Boys,I hope you won tonight against TSD, You are a great bunch of kids,ALL of you,and it takes all of you to win, seems we are always telling our kids it's time to grow up,maybe we should heed some of that advice ourselves...
Good luck Dawgs...
